LANDGUARD FORT GHOST HUNT 5th October 2013

For the evening I was on the upper level in the ramparts with Jason filming with me.  In our first room we explained how the equipment (Ghost Pro & KII) worked.  The guests had some interaction with spirits on the ghost pro’s.  We then moved to the Gun Room and held a séance circle.  It felt very uncomfortable in that room, I was feeling dizzy with a headache and difficulty breathing.  Jason was feeling it too with a headache.  I kept being pushed back – I felt the spirit didn’t want me or us there.  A male guest was being pushed back too.  The female guest to his left felt blowing in her ear.  To her surprise when asking spirit to blow in her other ear it did, and not just once.  Another female guest felt her neck being tickled, then she felt it continue down her back.  Noises were being heard around us too, and Jason and Simon (guest) heard a ringing noise.  We then moved to the next room where we had set up the Ouija table and more equipment for the guests to use.  The glass on the Ouija table moved slightly, guests were feeling cobwebs and tingling, one guest whilst touching the glass felt his finger go very hot.  Gemma (guest) was having positive responses with the dowsing rods.  We swapped the guests on the table so everyone got an opportunity to try, and we tried some table tipping.  We were hearing creaks underneath the table but no movement.  When we asked spirit to copy our taps we heard some taps back in response but not to our pattern.  However some of the time one of the guests could feel the correct taps underneath his hands.  As we all left the room, Jason was last to leave and heard a loud bang behind him.  Thinking it was a ghost pro fallen, he looked and couldn’t find anything.

With the second group again we explained the kit in the first room as they hadn’t used any on their first session.  Some interaction with spirits was experienced.  We then all went to the gun room and held a séance circle.  The guests standing to my left, their hands holding each other started moving up.  They took it in turns to ask spirit which way to move and to their surprise their hands moved to their request.  Other guests were being swayed.  We then went to the next room and tried some glass work on the Ouija table but nothing.  Tried some table tipping and felt some vibrations and taps.  Jason and guests heard what they thought to be the chain moving on two old bikes in the room.  We could hear some noises outside the room too.  Some guests then went into the cells for a short while before the break and one guest heard the door creak but when moving the door to his surprise it did not creak!

With my third group we went straight to the gun room and held a séance circle.  To our surprise we had activity on the KII for the first time.  The guests were asking the spirit communicating with us on the ghost pro’s if they were related to anyone here, and were receiving positive responses.  As no-one was having any type of movement we stopped the circle and as we all left the room, with Jason last, the doors at the opposite end flew open.  The doors were only pulled shut, not properly closed with the latch so we all questioned whether it was wind (although it was not a very windy night).  We all reconstructed the event, opening the doors one end to leave, all left the room with Jason remaining to film.  We all stood outside the opened door and watched through the room to see if the other doors opened.  To our amazement after a few minutes they flew open again.  Then as Daniel (guest) went to walk back into the room the door he was about to walk through closed on him.  This happened again when he tried to enter the room.  I left five guests and Jason in that room and took Drew and Tanya (guests) to the Ouija table as they thought they had a family member with them.  Although no movement with the glass, we had turned the Ovilus II on and the words coming through had personal meanings to the guests connected with a relative passed over.  With the remaining guests and Jason joining us, Drew & Tanya stepped away from the table to continue with the Ovilus, whilst the other guests sat at the table.  Immediately the glass started moving for them and by asking a few specific questions were able to verify that Daniel’s (guest) mother was with them.  This brought joy to them all and many questions were asked, with some amazing replies.  Daniel’s mum remained with them for the next hour.  All asking questions to validate more the spirit that was with them.  Much happiness was felt, along with lots of tears.  Daniel’s mum was taken too early and it was clear that she was dearly missed.  Throughout we also had lots of KII activity, always around Daniel, showing where he mum was standing.  When we felt that area pockets of warmth was felt.

Now into the free session the guests decided to have a wander with kit, and Jason & I stayed in the room.  Jason was playing some WWII music, and the atmosphere started to change.  The temperature dropped rapidly until we were both shivering with cold.  We felt that several spirits had joined us.  The empty chair next to us kept creaking as if someone was sitting there.  Other noises were heard around us.

A great night as most of the guests were new to ghost hunting and many were sceptics…but all seemed to be converted by the end of the night!

Groundlings Theatre ghost hunt – 9-11-2013

Groundlings Theatre ghost hunt 9th November 2013
Portsmouth, Hampshire

Our first event at Groundlings Theatre, (the Old Beneficiary School) in Portsmouth on 26th January 2013 was a very interesting and active night with lots of paranormal activity encountered by the guests, so when we returned we were hoping for a similar night, but since we never anticipate what may happen, because then we could be disappointed we were still hoping for a good ghost hunt and as it turned out the majority of the guests had a great night, full of unusual experiences which was enjoyed by all.

After a brief introduction we split the whole group into two smaller groups with my group heading into the very spooky costume department. I chose this area last time because of what I felt on my initial visit.

After formed a séance circle and explaining what may happen I asked for spirit to come forward to move or touch people gentle, almost immediately we were joined by a male spirit called Timothy who was a local greengrocer, aged in his mid-50s from the 1940s era (War years).

Timothy started to gentle left guests’ arms and when I asked them (the guests) to ask for their arms to be moved in a particular direction (in their heads) Timothy responded and did exactly what people were asking to start with, then as Timothy got more proficient he was able to lift peoples arms up as far as some of us could stretch and a little more in some cases! From here he moved onto to stroking people’s arms, shoulders and faces and the men’s chests as well as dragging us by our arms to floor. Several times hands and arms were moved toward me to (what I can only assume was to) remove my hat (as I have a red light on my hat so that guests can see in the dark). Jo (GHE team) commented that it felt like the spirit wanted to remove her hair band and after many attempts the spirit nearly managed to achieve it.

Once Timothy got the hang of moving us he started to sway and push people forwards and backwards which to many guest felt like a ride on a boat on a choppy sea. Many of us wished this didn’t happen because the room was very warm to start with and all this exercise was only making us hotter.

At one point when I was bent over looking at the floor I noticed there was a spirit Horse in the room, the horse seemed to be without a rider, although Carl (GHE Team & Camera) could feel a cold spot behind him and some unusual noises (also behind him). The movement then progressed onto stroking the boots of those guests wearing boots, whether this had anything to do with the horse I don’t know because while this was going on I was being twisted and pulled to floor.

One guest (Esther) thought she saw someone walk past the internal window, but no-one else saw anything and all the other guests were upstairs; the building manager was in his office and didn’t come out all night as he was working.

After all this movement I called an end to the séance because we were all hot and bothered.

Lots of strange noises were heard throughout the session including rumbling sounds (like someone moving a wardrobe), growling that seemed to come from the other end of the room and taps and bangs, although when we made sounds and asked the spirit to repeat them we heard nothing that resembled those noises. Carl at one point whistled out for a spirit to copy but before he had even asked for it to be repeated we all heard a “blown whistle” like someone trying to whistle who couldn’t.

We let the guests roam around the wardrobe department, some didn’t feel comfortable walking between the clothing rack and many reported feeling very heavy or disorientated at the far end. The dressing room end I noticed a young female spirit called Fiona who had joined us whilst the séance was taking place but had spent the time laughing and giggling at us. When we moved into “her” end of the room she seemed sad and made one of two of the guests feel the same. Fiona was about 25 years old and had been a member of staff when it was a school, the exact year she didn’t tell me but from what she was wearing I would have put her in the 1860s. Fiona was about 25 years, tall at 5’9” and of a slim build. Later in the evening it transpired she was murdered within the building and the perpetrator was never caught and she was with child.

After a short break the second group came to wardrobe department and once again Timothy was present and very quickly started to move the guests, more or less as soon as I asked him to do so. Whilst Timothy did allow people to ask where their arms should go he quickly bored of this and started to what he was doing with the first group. This turned very quickly into a session of twisting people, bending people over and pulling people back and upwards with our hands. Several guests were also pushed and swayed into each other and twisted around on the spot so that they were facing the other way, very similar to a dance where people would be twirled around. These movements continued until everyone had been moved in more than one direction and several of us were once again made to touch, and this time, stoke the floor.

Timothy tried to push and pull guests but this didn’t really work for him so instead he pulled us back by our arms and pulled us all together in the middle of the circle by our arms. This was a very strange experience.

During this session we heard some strange noises but they were much quieter than the first group although there were some loud knocks and bangs which sounded like someone closing a door within the room. Although there were no doors, just cupboards.

After the séance finished as the room hadn’t cooled down and after all the movements which were more forceful than the first group we were all quite hot we let the guest roam about again. Many of the guests didn’t like walking up and down the aisles because they felt odd and uncomfortable and. many reported that it felt like they were not welcome or shouldn’t have been there.

Those guests that ventured into the dressing felt the presence of Fiona although she seemed more shy than when the first group were here.

After we finished the controlled sessions we allowed the guests to roam around the whole building with our ghost hunting equipment.

I joined three guests back in the wardrobe department where they were attempting some scrying. Whilst Elaine was sitting in the chair and I was explaining what should happen Esther started to see an older man looking back at her, he had beady eyes and a very pronounced nose and chin. Elaine also said that she felt her chest to be bigger and more pronounced when she breathed.

A while later I joined two guests upstairs in the main theatre and I gave them my spirit box (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms) and asked for the spirit to say their names, it took a little while but eventually we heard both the guests names (Fran & Kelly). I then asked for the spirit to tell me their name, which was Alan and as soon as the spirit had said his name I could see him standing beside Fran, he looked about 50 years old with round spectacles and was a fairly tall man at about 6’ and of a strong build (square) wearing a mortar board hat and teachers cloak. Although his cloak was ripped and torn and covered in chalk marks. He carried a cane but rarely used this as it was more of a deterrent. He came across as a stern but fair man. Fran could feel a strange coldness (the room was cold as it was) on her right hand side, which was where Alan was standing.

When Alan removed his hat he was virtually bald with some hair on the back and sides which was mostly grey and now he looked older at about 60 years old (although he never actually told me his age). I asked for Alan to answer our questions via the spirit box and he was able to tell us how many of us were present as well as answer questions asked by the guests. During this time three guests joined us and said that they were joined by a spirit called Alan downstairs who was a teacher and were very surprised when I told them that we were talking to a spirit called Alan who was a teacher, as this seemed to be the same spirit that they were talking to downstairs. The reason why they left downstairs and came upstairs was that Alan that they were talking to left.

When I asked how many females were now in our group Alan correctly answered four. One of the guests asked for chair to be moved (there were about 100 chairs in the room) and whilst we were talking we all heard the sound of a chair move, but unfortunately we had no idea which chair moved, no guest was near any chair at the time of the noise.

Later on I was downstairs with some of the team and guests and we heard  a loud bang, like someone had knocked over a chair, when I went to investigate as some guests were upstairs they too had a heard the same noise and thought it was us who had made this noise. What the noise was we don’t know, but everyone said that the noise seemed to be inside the building.

Guests generally investigated on their own for the remainder of the time, with some guests trying to do more table tilting which worked for them whilst other were investigating in other areas using dowsing rods and pendulums and some of our electronic ghost hunting equipment. All guests had very productive sessions on their own as well as with the GHE team.

All in all this was another excellent ghost hunt with lots of unexplainable paranormal phenomena happening to the guests which they thoroughly enjoyed and were able to experience on their own as well as with the Ghost Hunt Events team.

We look forward to returning to The Old Beneficiary School in 2014.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 11-1-2014

Sunday, January 12th, 2014

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 11th January 2014
Rochester, Kent

We always look forward to returning to Fort Borstal, it is the majority of the team’s favourite location for many reasons. Since this was the first indoor ghost hunt of 2014 we were hoping the spiritual activity would be as good as the activity that we have had on previous occasions. Thankfully we and the guests were not disappointed.

As ever I chose the counterscarp galleries as my location for the night, as this area is one of the more active areas and the activity that the guests experience is somewhat predictable, but also very physical in its nature which in my opinion is the best way to experience spiritual paranormal activity.

The first group to the counterscarp gallery we formed a séance circle and after telling the guests what to expect and inviting spirit to come forward, arm movement started quite quickly. This usually starts with the people either side of me and as the séance progressed more people felt their arms being moved, first gently upwards and then once the person got used to the sensation and the guests encouraged spirit, more generally happened.

The spirit that was responsible for the movement was Capt Daniel Bedford who I have met many times here. This spirit energy is capable of moving people in any way in which he sees fit, but usually the movements are gentle in nature.

Sam (guest) felt a strange sensation in his left leg and as I asked for people to be moved this sensation worsened until Sam had no alternative to go with the feeling and he was made to crouch and bend over.

The people either side of me experienced some gentle arm movement which when they asked in their heads to be moved in a particular way, Daniel obliged.

Being that this was the first session I had to move around the circle so that other could experience the movements and sensations, this is quite normal. Although as I moved around more people got moved by Daniel, even those who were nowhere near me, much to their amazement.

Some of the guests were also pulled backwards and pushed forwards when they least expected it and moved into very uncomfortable positions. All guests eventually had their arms moved in some way.

The second group to the counterscarp galleries were treated to much more physical movements and very quickly after I started the séance everyone’s arms were moved and people were pulled and pushed into strange and uncomfortable positions apart from two people. After my side of the circle was pulled to the floor and we were all twisted up, I then moved to the opposite side of the circle so that those guests could also feel the same sensations.

When I moved here, we all were very quickly physically moved and dragged down to the floor by our hands, people became twisted up with each other and Dan (guest) who was on my left was pushed to floor until his head and face were on the floor. We all found this very amusing because he couldn’t get up or move in any way and was literally stuck to the floor!

Other people had their faces and arms stroked but the majority of the time was spent getting up after being pushed down. Emma (guest) was also pushed down to the floor many times and also couldn’t get up. The spirit that were responsible for this were two prisoner spirits by the name of Justin and Biffa who are also spirit which I have often met in this part of the fort. Capt Daniel also made an appearance but generally let the other two spirit do all of the work.

Towards the end of the session we all heard some unusual noises, like someone shuffling in one of the other rooms, since we were the only people here I have no explanation for the noises but we also were laughing quite a lot and probably didn’t hear all the noise that may have been associated with this anomaly.

The third group to the counterscarp gallery did not experience the same level of activity as the first two groups, however the majority of the guests did feel some gentle arm movement, especially Kelly (guest) who did not want to be moved or touched, but when it happened to both her hands she found it interesting and not as scary as she first thought.

Some people were also very gently pushed and pulled backwards, just to give them a physical experience but it was not of the same level as before. This was because Capt Daniel was the only spirit present and the group was a lot more reserved and less vocal than the other groups.

All in all this was a very enjoyable ghost hunt for everyone and many of the guests had a very physical ghost hunt, some had an exceptional time and were moved in ways they never thought possible.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 19-10-2013

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 19th October 2013
Chatham, Kent

Fort Horsted is one of our favourite ghost hunting venues and paranormal activity usually happens to various people in the whole group, rarely does so much activity happen to everyone in the same room, but on this particular occasion everyone who entered one of the most interesting areas of the Fort, known at the Fort as area 26 had much the same activity, albeit with some variations but generally everyone had some form of physical paranormal activity that they either couldn’t explain or once it happened the guests wanted it to happen more frequently.

As always we split the whole group of people into smaller groups and after a short historical briefing and a health & safety talk, a quick coffee and or cigarette we head off in our respective groups to start the ghost hunt.

Within the area known as 26, which is a wonderful [sic] 180 steps down and 30 up into the counterscarp galleries I picked one of the rooms which we have had lots of activity before and started a séance circle. To me is the best way that I can demonstrate the active spirits energy in a physical way so that I can “prove” that the spirits are real.

The first group to this area were all quite chatty until I asked that spirit step forward and touch and move people and at first everyone fell silent, then as I noticed a spirit come towards us, he started to move my hands and then others in the group. The spirit was called Gerald Clarke, he was a Second World War soldier, a Private first class from some rifle regiment and he told me (later in the evening) that he trained to be a sniper. He was about 24 years old, 5’9” in height and of slight build. He was wearing his “Going out” uniform. This is a special uniform that would only be worn when the soldiers were out and about in a town or when they were not on duty or in active service. He also sported a pipe, but I forgot to mention this until Jason (GHE team & camera) and others started to smell sweet tobacco smells.

Gerald firstly moved people hands and arms and slowly became more confident and started to touch people’s heads and strangely ears, although the person that this happened to first didn’t like her ears being touched!

Many people in the group we asking (in their heads) that Gerald move their arms in a particular direction, although Gerald had his own ideas and rarely actually did what anyone asked until they asked in a polite way. Many people were also pulled down to the floor very quickly (by their hands and arms) and once on the floor Gerald continued to move them and dragged their hands across the floor to the other side of the circle.

As Gerald became more proficient at moving people there was one moment when everyone apart from one person was on the floor, mostly in a bit of a heap because some people had been dragged down on top of other people who were already on the floor.

During the whole session we all heard some odd and strange noises, some of those noises sounded like footsteps whilst other sounded like stones being thrown, (we have had stones thrown at people in this room before on previous ghost hunts) however we did not investigate the noises because we were usually on the floor or moving towards the floor when these noises occurred.

The Second group to this area started much the same way, people being silent but as soon as I saw Gerald, I explained to the guests what I could see people generally relaxed and once again gentle arm movement started but quickly turned into more meaningful movements. There was also another male spirit, Justin who I believe I have met before at the fort, although he didn’t do anything physical to the guests apart from stand near or behind them to make people feel uncomfortable.

After moving various people within this group, Gerald quickly moved on to swaying and gently pushing people with some guests commenting that they felt like they were on a boat or had just got off a boat.

Some guests felt a physical touch, usually on their backs or in the ribs and considering we were all holding hands as part of the séance it could not have been anyone physical.

This time though as people asked (in their heads) for their arms to be moved in a particular direction, Gerald complied and did exactly what every person asked of him. After many of the guests were moved in some way Gerald moved on to his speciality and that seemed to be pulling people to the floor, which is exactly what happened to me first and when I stood up others were being pulled down. Gerald however had now managed to understand how to move people and wasn’t happy just pulling people to the floor, he now managed to push and pull people in different directions by their arms and move people into strange positions and when anyone asked that they be moved Gerald always picked on one particular guest to move them first before moving the person that asked to be moved, this was very amusing to watch, but unfortunately this session was not filmed by us.

The Third group to this area started in the same manner as all the other sessions, gentle arm movement, usually just lifting someone’s arms so that they realised it wasn’t them and then very quickly (probably because Gerald now understood how to move us) moved on to pulling people in strange ways. This session was much like the first session as Gerald moved various people’s arms to touch other people’s faces, chins, chests and legs, which became very embarrassing.

After just about everyone had been either; touched, pushed or moved in some way Gerald very quickly moved on to pulling people’s arms across the group so that we either had to move or fall over. Justin (the other male spirit) also made an appearance although this time would not really enter the room and staying the same place throughout much of the time. I could see and hear him laughing a lot.

Most of this session the physical nature of the event meant that generally we were all moved and hands were being moved in all directions from just about everyone, it was very similar to a modern game of Twister although this was in virtual darkness!

Many times my hands were pulled to the floor and dragged across the floor, which was actually quite painful, although I was the only person to spend time on the floor, which I suppose made a change, because the other two groups this was a usual occurrence.

As this session progressed several whistles were heard, but unfortunately we were all making a noise or talking when this happened and none of us had any idea where the noises came from, although the noises all sounded like it came from within the Fort rather than the dry moat.

After our controlled session we always allow the guests to wander quite freely to different areas of the Fort, usually with one of the GHE team in toe because of the various dangers at this fort. I joined a group of four guests in an area that they had not visited during our controlled sessions and we came across a familiar (to me) female spirit energy. Her name was Annie and she had been a Nurse at the Fort. One guest asked that she touch his hand and although he felt no proper or physical touch, he did feel a strange tingling sensation in his hand and arm. This is a normal sensation as Annie has previously made guests feel the same when they have been in this area.

This was an exceptionally physical ghost hunt as everyone felt some kind of physical paranormal activity, whether they wanted to feel it or not! Obviously many of the guests who experienced the dragging across the floor or pulled to the floor didn’t want to return to this area and spent the free time doing that so they ventured off to different areas to try to communicate with the spirit with some of our electronic gadgets. Many guests reported some interesting communication and everyone left happy as they had all experienced something that they didn’t expect and realised that actually it wasn’t as scary as they thought it was going to be.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 27-09-2013

Monday, November 11th, 2013

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 27th September 2013
Rochester, Kent

We have visited Fort Borstal enough times now to know what to expect or which spirits may visit us especially because I have seen the same spirit energies time after time. However we cannot predict what will happen because that is the nature of what we do. I am also surprised what the spirit energies are capable of, especially to certain people. This was one of those nights where the spirit energies were predictable, but what they did to the guests wasn’t. It was different to say the least!

As usual I chose the double counterscarp gallery as my area for the night, I choose this area because the level of spiritual activity is much higher within this area, I attribute this to the men that spent many hours toiling here, either building the place or when stationed here.

The first group of guests into the space I made my way to the end room, this seems to be more active than any other room, and unsurprisingly it is also the smallest room.

We were joined by Captain Daniel Bedford, a spirit that I have often encountered here. I asked as I usually do for the spirit to lift the arms of the guests, which Captain Daniel set about achieving. Those that didn’t feel their arms being lifted felt the alternative, pushing and swaying.

Once Captain Daniel mastered the art of lifting people’s arms and pushing the forwards and backwards and generally rocking them he then proceeded to drag people to the floor by their arms, this is not surprising as this happens very frequently by this spirit in this room. However what I wasn’t expecting is what happened after this. People were being dragged against their will out of the room, fighting the movement didn’t work as there seemed to be two choices, either fall on the floor or be pulled out of the room. Those on the floor had no choice but to move where the rest of the guests were moving.

I brought this séance circle to a quicker close than I would normally because the movements were very forceful and apart from the guests there was no other team member of mine present and hence no light in the room. The reason for this forceful movement wasn’t immediately apparent, it was only when I faced the other room that I could see another male spirit, someone who I had not seen here before and he didn’t look very happy.

The guests then wandered throughout the counterscarp galleries with some of our ghost hunting equipment as this was safer than staying in the room with an unhappy spirit.

Strange noises were heard throughout our time in the counterscarp galleries, although there was no obvious explanation for any of them.

The second group to the counterscarp galleries were very apprehensive walking through the tunnels and I led them to the same room that we had recently been forced out of. For two reasons, one to see if it would happen again and two, to find out which spirit was responsible.

Immediately Captain Daniel made himself known to me as did another familiar male spirit; Biffa or Bernard to his mum. Biffa was a prisoner who was forced to work on the fort and I have the distinct impression that this part of the fort was built by him.

I started a séance circle and once again asked for the spirit to move people’s arms. This eventually affected everyone in the room although it took a lot longer for the spirit to achieve this. After the spirits had lifted the majority of people’s arm they both then started to push people and once again push or pull them down to the floor by their arms. It didn’t seem to matter what anyone said either in their heads or out loud the spirits ignored everyone’s wish and pulled then down towards the floor. Those who were not dragged down onto the floor were being manipulated in other ways and were being moved, twisted and swayed much to the guests’ amazement. Some people were pushed and twisted so that they were facing the wrong way in the group. They were looking out whilst everyone else was looking in. This proved to be very amusing, both for the guest and the spirits who obviously enjoyed manipulating people in this way.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it the sensation that the first group felt of being dragged out of the room against their will didn’t happen to the second group, instead we were all pushed, twisted and generally moved in gentle but purposeful ways.

After our controlled sessions guests were allowed to roam freely around the Fort with our ghost hunting equipment, I joined various groups of people in all areas of the fort and helped them to ascertain what spirit was with them and I was able to tell them details about the spirit.

Once again an enjoyable ghost hunt where everyone had some form of a paranormal encounter, some of the paranormal experiences were memorable, but probably for the wrong reasons, like being dragged against your will, but that is the nature of what we do, it is unpredictable.

Fort Horsted – 21-9-2013 (Sue Paranormal Investigator Report)

Thursday, November 7th, 2013

Fort Horsted 21st September 2013

I was based in Room 10. We could sense and feel spirit was with us although we could not establish exactly who they were. The most active areas were the room to the left and the corridor that run in between the two rooms. We went into circle and began calling out asking for spirit to make themselves know to us. The 2 x  ghost box pro’s immediately light up and responded to questions we established we had a female and a male spirit although they would not give any personal information, in fact when we asked would they be willing to talk to us via the board or glass they refused and said no, the guests found this quite amusing as spirit was quite amendment of what they were and were not willing to do for us.

We heard a lot of noises all night especially when standing in the corridor inbetween the two rooms. Lots of taps and banning. we heard footsteps and even sounded like someone walking on gravel but there is no gravel anywhere in the surrounding area.

In both my 1st and 2nd group but not the 3rd we could clearly hear the sound of running water, we didn’t hear the water constantly but it was quite frequent as if there was a stream behind us or water running down a bank. When i checked with the owner there is no stream or any reason why we would hear water in this area. When i spoke to Karen (she was in 3rd group) on a break she said she had heard water running in that area when she was here a few months ago.

One of the guest was wearing the hearing enhancers and he clearly heard a heavy door bang shut there is no door in this area.

In both my 1st and 2nd group when a female stood in the exact same spot the same things happened to both guests. They stood in the corridor with there back to the opening of the room on the left. When stood here both guests they kept being touched on their face and having their hair touched they also felt extreme cold spots next to them. The ghost box pro said when asked on both occasions that the Jasmine & the other guest both reminded spirit of themselves and the guests looked and was around the same age as the spirit. Interestingly both of these two guests did look very similar to each other had the same hair colour, hair style & length, same build and approx same age also this was the only time the female spirit interacted with us.

We went into the room on the left. Spirit would not talk to us via the board or move the glass but i gave one guest a set of dowsing rods and explained to them how to use them. We asked the spirit to use the dowsing rods and take the guest to wear the spirit was stood, it took the guest to the far back wall. The guest had established there yes and no position with the dowsing rods. We continued to talk to spirit and ask questions and we had 2 x ghost box pros on the table and one guest with the dowsing rods. interestingly we was getting the exact same response via the ghost box pro the dowsing rod also gave the same answer to the questions, so was very good to have two ghost boxs and a set of dowsing rods all given the exact same answer to our questions at the same time.

When we was in circle in the corridor area Audrey said that when she looked at Jason who was filming she could see Jasons face changing and that Jason looked like he had a moustache. We had seen a lot of shadows by the top entrance and had the constant feeling of being watched. We set up a laser grid in the area that you walk through to get to room 10 the area that leads round to the bend although this did not get any results.

Overall a very interesting night. Although we could not get any specific information to let us know who was was talking to we heard so many noises. Taps, bangs, footsteps, walking on gravel, a door slamming and running water.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 21-9-2013

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 21st September 2013
Chatham, Kent

As ever the team always like returning to Fort Horsted as we always have interesting nights, sometimes though the ghost hunt is exceptional, this was one of those nights!

After separating the group into teams of three we set off to our nominated areas, I usually choose one of two areas, but for this event I had chosen I room that I first had a great experience, as did the guests that were with me.

The room was one of the old magazine rooms and the farthest walk from the rest of the groups so we could be fairly sure that there would be no noise pollution.

We were joined by Geoffrey, a lieutenant in the Army from the Second World War, he was aged in his late-20s or early 30s and came from Lincolnshire. Also present was another Second World War soldier called Paul who was a quieter or shy spirit. Both of them seem to have a funny side to their nature.

On asking these spirits to touch or move people slowly some people’s arms started to move and quite quickly various people’s arms started to stroke the arms of other people in the séance circle as well as pushing people’s chins up (as if to say stand up straight). Some guests arms were pulled to the floor and hands dragged on the floor.

One of the spirits kept calling one of the guests “Teddy Bear” which at first I ignored but after a while realised there must be a reason for this and told the male guest what the spirit was telling him. He was a little surprised because there was a family link with the phrase Teddy Bear.

I moved around the circle as some people on the opposite side of the circle to me were not feeling any movement. Once I had moved various people on this side of the circle started to feel their arms move and on command and once again there was some gentle pushing and pulling back felt by the guests. Some people were also dragged to the floor by their arms and had their hands dragged on the floor. Those that didn’t get dragged to the floor had felt the spirit energies gently rock them, either forwards and backwards or side to side.

During this séance we all heard footsteps further down the corridor, usually this sounds like someone approaching which is exactly what we heard but as ever no-one arrives. There were also sounds of chatter or mumbling but because of the acoustics of the room it is very hard to know which direction the sounds are coming from.

At the end of the session I held an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. During the recording we all heard a strange whistle after one person spoke, although nothing was recorded. There were several ghost voices on the recording but unfortunately many of them were either too quiet or tainted with some other noise (either someone speaking or moving their feet). There were however two clear EVPs which can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/NBL7voeb9CQ
http://youtu.be/BQNZUBQnBko

The second group to this area (of which some have been to this Fort before and other had been on other ghost hunts of ours) knew exactly what to do during the séance. The two spirits from the first session were still present and almost immediately after I asked for the guests arms to be moved, the spirits complied and moved lots of people arms and pushing them into uncomfortable positions. One guest (Darren) wanted to see how far the spirits could push him and it was no surprise to me, but he ended up on his back on the floor!

We were also joined by a different spirit; a Colour Sergeant or Sergeant Major (the terminology depends on the division), this particular spirit was a very strict man although he was able to move people with greater force and stood behind one particular guest (Mark), the reason for this was apparent afterwards. Mark could feel a strange coldness behind him and Jo (who was next to Mark) also felt a sharp stabbing pain in her back, she said like a needle was pressed into her back. Another guest was afraid to look at the only doorway into the room, but this is a normal experience and exactly why I chose this room because that is what has happened to the majority of the guests that come to this Fort.

The Colour Sergeant wouldn’t tell me his name, but he had the demeanour of a man that if he asked you to jump, you would say, how high? He was 6 foot tall, quite strong looking build and quite muscular, he wore a moustache and had long sideburns that were down to his chin. He also wore the usual green fatigues and a cap with a red stripe. He also held a knotted/rope thing which at the time I didn’t know what it was, but have since found out this was called a swagger stick.

The Colour Sergeant stood directly behind Mark and he commented that he felt a thumb pushed into his back. (After we finished the session Mark told me that his father would do exactly the same thing when he was younger).

When asking for any of the spirits to make a noise, everyone heard the sound of a footstep, which Darren and I heard a noise that came from directly between us and since we were both looking at the floor, we each knew that neither of us moved.

Some other guests heard breathing noises behind them which became very unnerving.

At the end of this session I held another EVP experiment and since the majority of this group had been on a ghost hunt, they knew to be quiet. There were lots of spirit voices after the questions asked but unfortunately not all of them we could understand but out of 8 people there were 4 clear responses which can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/CxF6YFMmSfU
http://youtu.be/0SujixcN1so
http://youtu.be/OLIq0cq0b3Q
http://youtu.be/vDTrIeQRZq8

The third and final group session in this same room the spirit energy of the Colour Sergeant and Geoffrey joined us and once again asking for the spirit to move arms of the guests resulted in some gentle but purposeful movements, most of the time on command i.e. when people asked for their arms to be moved (in their heads) their arms moved, obviously there is no way the person who was holding their hand knew that one of them had asked and was surprised when both their arms moved.

There was also some gentle pushing and swaying which some of the guests found unnerving but I find it is an excellent way to prove that people are not doing it themselves because it is very difficult to sway backwards because if you were doing it yourself you would not be able to see or know what you would fall into.

There was also some rubbing of people arms and shoulders with other people’s hands and once again some people were pulled by their hands to the floor, many of which didn’t want to touch the floor but no matter what they said (the guests) they ended up with their hands on the floor.

This was the only session of mine which was filmed (see the link below) and whilst Jason (GHE team Cameraman) was standing in the doorway to the tunnel he could feel a spirit near to him, this was a female energy, a nurse called Annie which I have seen at this Fort before. There was also another soldier from the Second World War; Alfred standing behind Jason and he commented several times that he could hear whispering and movement behind him.

After our controlled sessions we allow (as always) the guests to venture off to any area of the Fort under our guidance so that they can hold their own vigil or ghost hunt and use our ghost hunting equipment.

I joined a group in an area known as casement 10 and there was a male spirit in his mid-50s wandering about the rooms, he is a maintenance man and I have seen him before in this area. Whilst nothing exciting happened, some noises we heard and the guests that were here felt uncomfortable because it felt like someone was watching them. Other groups that used this casement in earlier groups reported the same thing.

Several guests went to the most interesting part of the Fort; The Counterscarp Galleries and held a séance where two people were pushed to floor in a strange way.

This session was filmed and can be watched at: – http://youtu.be/1x5LFzjS1Co

The full event video can be watched at: – http://www.ghosthuntevents.tv/#clip=819617

This was a very active ghost hunt with all groups getting some excellent paranormal activity.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt – 14-9-2013

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013

The Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 14th September 2013
Colchester, Essex

This was our 4th visit to The Red Lion Hotel of 2013 and since we always enjoy the experience because the level of activity at the hotel always changes but there are always some common paranormal occurrences that the guests experience.

Both my sessions were in the cellar because it is here that the guests often experience the true capability of spirit energies and the level of activity is always better than the rest of the hotel, mainly because the cellar hasn’t changed for many years.

The first group to the cellar we were joined by a male energy called Colin Warden, aged in his mid-30s and passed away in 1984 in Colchester after being involved in a road traffic accident.

First of all Colin started to sway people especially Jade (guest) as he was also carrying out my instruction to move people’s arms. Many guests felt their arms move, often in strange and uncomfortable positions and mostly these movements were on command as I asked the guests to ask in their heads the direction that they wanted their arms to be moved. Colin obliged although he also did his own thing once he figured out how to move people.

During this séance lots of strange noises were heard, many of them coming from behind the walls away from the outside noise of vehicles. Shareena (guest) thought she was looking towards a window as she commented that she had just seen an outline of a person walk past the “window”, but I pointed out that there was no window and when the session finished and the lights came on Shareena was really surprised that there wasn’t anything that even looked like a window.

Many guests during the séance felt hot and some felt cold but his changed rapidly as Colin made his way around the circle and several people reported that they felt as if they were being watched which made them feel uncomfortable.

Towards the end of the session I became aware that there was another spirit with his, he was called Gordon and he is also a spirit that I have seen before at the Red Lion, although on this occasion he didn’t interact with the guests.

One of the guests also felt there was a girl aged about 7 years old called Emily with us, but I couldn’t confirm this as I didn’t see any child spirit.

The second group to the cellar we had much the same arm movement activity at first. But this time the spirit (Colin) couldn’t move around the circle as the energy wasn’t good enough (the guests weren’t encouraging him), therefore I had to move around the circle for those opposite me to sense and feel the spirit energy.

David (guest) who I stood beside felt lots of movement and as the spirit (Colin) moved him forwards and backwards and then proceeded to pull him by his arms down towards the floor. No matter what either of us said which at that point was “up” Colin dragged us down.

Once the spirit had moved or touched the majority of people very little else happened because the guests were not encouraging Colin to do anything, just standing in silence. I therefore finished the séance and we finished the session.

After our controlled sessions I joined a group of people in the outer cellar area for a Ouija board session. The spirit spelt his name as Puw and was able to answer all the questions posed by the guests. We also tried using a glass since Puw didn’t want to answer too many questions and the guests were really impressed that the glass ran around the rim of the table at great speed and was able to stop and move in the opposite direction when asked.

Various noises were also heard during this session that were not related to us or outside as it sounded like someone rearranging baubles on a Christmas tree.

I also joined some guests in room 7 where we heard some names on the spirit box (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies at 100ms in reverse) but unfortunately they were not the names of the people present.

In a short session in the Parliament Restaurant any guest that stood in a particular part of the room felt the same sensations. The sensation of being dragged backwards through the wall.

This was an enjoyable ghost hunt for some people, although it could have been better across all groups if those present actively encouraged the spirit energies to do something. Standing or sitting in silence is never going to encourage anyone to do anything. Our events are participation events, where everyone has to want to participate and to encourage the spirit to do something.

Old Police Cells Museum ghost hunt – 13-9-2013

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013

The Old Police Cells Museum ghost hunt 13th September 2013
Brighton, East Sussex

The first time that we came to this venue for a ghost hunt was so good we had to revisit it, just to see if the same sensations were experienced.

This time one group had both the male and female cell area to investigate through a one hour session and I took the lower washroom and un-renovated areas.

Starting in the library part of the building, although to call it a library is not right, more a dumping ground for all the things the Town Council don’t know what to do with. We came across a spirit energy who called himself Titan. He was about 5’ tall with grey hair on the back and sides and a small beard and in a way reminded me of a gnome.

Whilst we were in this area some odd noises were heard but little else, I was hoping for some movements like the last visit, but no-one felt anything. Moving back to the washroom and as soon as we entered the far end of the room where the toilets were situated a large male spirit energy came to join us. His name was Adrian and he was a muscular 6’5” policeman from about 1870s. You would not have messed with him! The person who was standing nearest to where Adrian stood felt cold shivers. Asking Adrian to make a noise didn’t unfortunately happen although when asking for him to move people, the only person to be moved was me, which slightly defeated the point of asking.

Many photos were taken and various light anomalies or orbs were photographed. Lots of communication occurred on our electronic equipment and some odd levels of KII (EMF) energy were detected.

The second group to the washroom felt uncomfortable in the library part and one particular guest felt that we should not be in this room as she felt extremely unwelcome. Another guest (who had chosen to wear a policeman’s uniform since visiting the male holding cells in the first session) felt odd and changing cold spots in certain parts of the room. The rest of us tried to find a breeze or at least feel it but none of us could feel what the guest felt.

Once again lots of electronic communication enabled the guests to get some answers to their questions and the strange levels of KII still existed but not in the same areas or rooms seen by the first group. The high levels of KII seen with the first group in the toilet and washroom area had now moved into the library area and the end of the store room.

After everyone had visited the cells and washrooms we all went upstairs to the council chamber room, as I hadn’t visited this room before and whilst we all felt some strange sensations within the room, the level of spirit activity was minimal. It was not due to the amount of spirits as there were two prominent spirits; one was a cleaner from the turn of the 20th Century and the other was a Security guard from 1980s called Derek Jacobs, who worked part time as a local builder.

But neither of these spirits seemed to want to interact with us and touch us. They did however make some noises but unfortunately the rain was louder in this room as the rain lashed on the windows making hearing anything other than the rain very difficult and always left us questioning whether it was spirit or the weather that was responsible for the noises.

We are looking forward to 2014 when we will return to see whether the first ghost hunt or the second ghost hunt activities can be repeated. Plus we will bring some of our hearing enhancement equipment to try to hear the strange noises that we have heard on both occasions.

Rye Castle ghost hunt – 24-8-2013

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

Rye Castle ghost hunt 24th August 2013
Rye, East Sussex

After the first ghost hunt at Rye Castle earlier in the year, we had high hopes for this ghost hunt, but unfortunately as we all know rarely are two ghost hunts at the same venue the same and activity that happened before may not happen again. This is exactly what happened at this ghost hunt. That’s not to say it wasn’t a good ghost hunt it was just different.

My first session in Keep some of the guests were feeling hot for no particular reason, the level of KII (EMF Electro Magnetic Field) shown on our meters was low and we had an Ovilus III which blurted out some fairly random words.

There was however a male spirit in the room with us. He was called Thomas and he was some kind of soldier, possibly French because he was wearing a French style cap similar to French Foreign Legion soldiers hats. Thomas was tall and slender in appearance and aged about 25 years old. As he walked around us many of us felt wobbly on our feet. As the session progressed this feeling seemed to affect everyone as we all ended up holding on to something to stop ourselves from wobbling. Those people in front of the main window felt more wobbly and unstable than those who were standing elsewhere.

During the séance Thomas was able to move some people’s arms but not everyone and those in front of one of the cells complained that they felt like someone was watching them. There is a mannequin in this cell, but there is no head on the mannequin which people sometimes fell quite weary of. It seems more scary because it has no head. Thomas was also able to push and pull some of the guests gently so that the guests found themselves rocking on their feet.

The second group to the keep also felt similar sensations to the first and they too found themselves holding on to objects to steady themselves. Thomas was still present and everyone ending up holding on to the table or resting on the table for support. Once again the Ovilus blurted out some random words none of which made much sense or seemed relevant.

Following on from our two sessions we decided to do something that we have never done in this venue before. Since there is a Women’s Tower; a building which was for the sole use of Woman and Children prisoners we decided to split the guests into a male & female group and spend time in the Woman’s Tower in these groups to see whether it would make any difference to the level of activity felt by the guests.

When it was the Men’s turn we all sat or crouched on the floor. Very quickly we all heard some odd noises, it sounded like someone walking on a wooden floor. Considering we were the only people in the building and no one was moving, the staircase is concrete as is the ground floor room and there are no buildings which adjoin it, this is a solitary building within the grounds and exercise yard.

I noticed two female spirits that were apprehensive to join us, they seemed to be waiting at the bottom of the stairs, one of the female spirits was called Marjorie and she was about 55 years old.

Then without any warning everyone in the room heard someone in high heels walk up a wooden staircase and the last footstep sounded like entering a room with a wooden floor. One of the guests who was sitting with his back to the wall said that it sounded like an impact sound from the adjoining property. When I showed him a photo of the tower and that there is no adjoining building he could not think of any explanation for what we had heard.

This was a strange ghost hunt because it always felt as if something were about to happen but never did. Even as we were outside before the ghost hunt started strange noises were heard coming from the garden (what used to be the exercise yard) by myself and some guests that arrived early. At the time I (and the Museum guide) had no answer as to what those noises could have been as there is nothing that moves or rattles within the garden.
