FORT HORSTED GHOST HUNT  21st September 2013

I love returning to Fort Horsted, this place holds many memories for me, and for tonight I’m in the ‘Hanging Room’ which is always very active.  My first group were ladies celebrating a hen party.  I started by explaining all the kit: KII, Ghost Meter Pro, dowsing rods and temperature guage. The ghost pro lit up immediately and everyone enjoyed having conversations with the spirits present.  The initial temperature was 13.7, and when everyone started noticing cold spots we checked and the temperature had dropped to 13 degrees.  Several guests were feeling the spirits around them, and some were swaying when standing in a particular area.  We all tried to get some movement on the ouija board but nothing, however as we all turned to look at something the planchette moved once.  We tried some table tipping but again nothing, however we kept hearing a strange noise, and realised it was as if someone was rubbing up against our coats, and one of the guests felt this movement.  For the last 15 minutes we went downstairs to the ‘dead end’ corridor as its been reported stones are thrown or noises heard.  We were all standing in the dark, some guests were seeing lights on the wall, others were being swayed and pushed.  Also a guest felt her hair being touched, and just as we were leaving we all heard a loud bang behind us.

With my next group we immediately had the ghost pro’s lighting up, and again the guests were able to communicate with the spirits.  Four guests tried to get some movement with the ouija board and table tipping but only got one tap on the table.  Three other guests tried table tipping with myself and we started feeling vibrations, and creaking under the table.   We were feeling cold spots in the room again but the temperature remained at 13.7 degrees.  We did get quite alot of activity on the KII’s this time.  Again we went downstairs into the corridor, and some guests were being swayed and pushed.  Jason (team) whilst filming believed he saw the pipe on the wall moving, and as we turned our torches on checked that no-one was able to move the pipe.  Hopefully we caught something.

My third group were guests that had been before so I stood back and filmed whilst they took control.  They all tried to get some movement on the table and were extremely impressed when the table started lifting up.  This happened several times with tapping on the table too.  The KII lit up many times too.

Last hour – free session – and many of the guests wanted to go to casement 26, so myself and team members Jason & Sue took the guests. Sue & I took guests at opposite ends and I started with a seance circle.  Jason came down and filmed us.  We had alot of KII activity.  Some guests were swaying.  Paul the manager was with us and had moved behind some of the guests.  Without realising he started to move the barrier into the back room, but the noise was so loud we all jumped!! Starting to breathe again Paul asked if we wanted to move into the back room, taking care not to touch the walls with the grafitti on, which we did, whilst remaining in the circle.  Asking spirit to step forward and let us know they are with us quickly, as our time here would be short, immediately arms started moving with almost everyone.  Mostly the girls arms were going forward, however the men’s arms were being moved uncomfortably backwards. Then the men were being pulled to the ground where they landed in a heap.  Us ladies found this hilarious.  With our time up we asked spirit to move everyone back to where we started, which thankfully they obliged.

A great end to a fantastic night!!

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 21st September 2013
Chatham, Kent

As ever the team always like returning to Fort Horsted as we always have interesting nights, sometimes though the ghost hunt is exceptional, this was one of those nights!

After separating the group into teams of three we set off to our nominated areas, I usually choose one of two areas, but for this event I had chosen I room that I first had a great experience, as did the guests that were with me.

The room was one of the old magazine rooms and the farthest walk from the rest of the groups so we could be fairly sure that there would be no noise pollution.

We were joined by Geoffrey, a lieutenant in the Army from the Second World War, he was aged in his late-20s or early 30s and came from Lincolnshire. Also present was another Second World War soldier called Paul who was a quieter or shy spirit. Both of them seem to have a funny side to their nature.

On asking these spirits to touch or move people slowly some people’s arms started to move and quite quickly various people’s arms started to stroke the arms of other people in the séance circle as well as pushing people’s chins up (as if to say stand up straight). Some guests arms were pulled to the floor and hands dragged on the floor.

One of the spirits kept calling one of the guests “Teddy Bear” which at first I ignored but after a while realised there must be a reason for this and told the male guest what the spirit was telling him. He was a little surprised because there was a family link with the phrase Teddy Bear.

I moved around the circle as some people on the opposite side of the circle to me were not feeling any movement. Once I had moved various people on this side of the circle started to feel their arms move and on command and once again there was some gentle pushing and pulling back felt by the guests. Some people were also dragged to the floor by their arms and had their hands dragged on the floor. Those that didn’t get dragged to the floor had felt the spirit energies gently rock them, either forwards and backwards or side to side.

During this séance we all heard footsteps further down the corridor, usually this sounds like someone approaching which is exactly what we heard but as ever no-one arrives. There were also sounds of chatter or mumbling but because of the acoustics of the room it is very hard to know which direction the sounds are coming from.

At the end of the session I held an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. During the recording we all heard a strange whistle after one person spoke, although nothing was recorded. There were several ghost voices on the recording but unfortunately many of them were either too quiet or tainted with some other noise (either someone speaking or moving their feet). There were however two clear EVPs which can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/NBL7voeb9CQ
http://youtu.be/BQNZUBQnBko

The second group to this area (of which some have been to this Fort before and other had been on other ghost hunts of ours) knew exactly what to do during the séance. The two spirits from the first session were still present and almost immediately after I asked for the guests arms to be moved, the spirits complied and moved lots of people arms and pushing them into uncomfortable positions. One guest (Darren) wanted to see how far the spirits could push him and it was no surprise to me, but he ended up on his back on the floor!

We were also joined by a different spirit; a Colour Sergeant or Sergeant Major (the terminology depends on the division), this particular spirit was a very strict man although he was able to move people with greater force and stood behind one particular guest (Mark), the reason for this was apparent afterwards. Mark could feel a strange coldness behind him and Jo (who was next to Mark) also felt a sharp stabbing pain in her back, she said like a needle was pressed into her back. Another guest was afraid to look at the only doorway into the room, but this is a normal experience and exactly why I chose this room because that is what has happened to the majority of the guests that come to this Fort.

The Colour Sergeant wouldn’t tell me his name, but he had the demeanour of a man that if he asked you to jump, you would say, how high? He was 6 foot tall, quite strong looking build and quite muscular, he wore a moustache and had long sideburns that were down to his chin. He also wore the usual green fatigues and a cap with a red stripe. He also held a knotted/rope thing which at the time I didn’t know what it was, but have since found out this was called a swagger stick.

The Colour Sergeant stood directly behind Mark and he commented that he felt a thumb pushed into his back. (After we finished the session Mark told me that his father would do exactly the same thing when he was younger).

When asking for any of the spirits to make a noise, everyone heard the sound of a footstep, which Darren and I heard a noise that came from directly between us and since we were both looking at the floor, we each knew that neither of us moved.

Some other guests heard breathing noises behind them which became very unnerving.

At the end of this session I held another EVP experiment and since the majority of this group had been on a ghost hunt, they knew to be quiet. There were lots of spirit voices after the questions asked but unfortunately not all of them we could understand but out of 8 people there were 4 clear responses which can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/CxF6YFMmSfU
http://youtu.be/0SujixcN1so
http://youtu.be/OLIq0cq0b3Q
http://youtu.be/vDTrIeQRZq8

The third and final group session in this same room the spirit energy of the Colour Sergeant and Geoffrey joined us and once again asking for the spirit to move arms of the guests resulted in some gentle but purposeful movements, most of the time on command i.e. when people asked for their arms to be moved (in their heads) their arms moved, obviously there is no way the person who was holding their hand knew that one of them had asked and was surprised when both their arms moved.

There was also some gentle pushing and swaying which some of the guests found unnerving but I find it is an excellent way to prove that people are not doing it themselves because it is very difficult to sway backwards because if you were doing it yourself you would not be able to see or know what you would fall into.

There was also some rubbing of people arms and shoulders with other people’s hands and once again some people were pulled by their hands to the floor, many of which didn’t want to touch the floor but no matter what they said (the guests) they ended up with their hands on the floor.

This was the only session of mine which was filmed (see the link below) and whilst Jason (GHE team Cameraman) was standing in the doorway to the tunnel he could feel a spirit near to him, this was a female energy, a nurse called Annie which I have seen at this Fort before. There was also another soldier from the Second World War; Alfred standing behind Jason and he commented several times that he could hear whispering and movement behind him.

After our controlled sessions we allow (as always) the guests to venture off to any area of the Fort under our guidance so that they can hold their own vigil or ghost hunt and use our ghost hunting equipment.

I joined a group in an area known as casement 10 and there was a male spirit in his mid-50s wandering about the rooms, he is a maintenance man and I have seen him before in this area. Whilst nothing exciting happened, some noises we heard and the guests that were here felt uncomfortable because it felt like someone was watching them. Other groups that used this casement in earlier groups reported the same thing.

Several guests went to the most interesting part of the Fort; The Counterscarp Galleries and held a séance where two people were pushed to floor in a strange way.

This session was filmed and can be watched at: – http://youtu.be/1x5LFzjS1Co

The full event video can be watched at: – http://www.ghosthuntevents.tv/#clip=819617

This was a very active ghost hunt with all groups getting some excellent paranormal activity.

Fort Horsted group two – 8-6-2013

FORT HORSTED GHOST HUNT  6th June 2013

Carl & I were in the Hanging Room for tonight, and with our first group we passed around the Ghost Pro’s and KII’s for the guests to use, explaining how they all detect spirit.  We had activity on the Ghost Pro’s within a few minutes, initially we had a female spirit, then a male.  After a short while of guests asking the questions to spirit, we decided on holding a séance circle.  We had some swaying within the circle, and may have heard some whistles, but couldn’t establish where they came from.  We broke hands as no more activity, and all guests had the opportunity to explore with kit.  One guest whilst standing next to the area where someone was reputedly hanged, had some strong KII activity.  One of the guests whilst walking along a tunnel felt claustrophobic.  Another guest commented on seeing on the Ghost Adventures programme the spirit box being used, so for 10 minutes we used this, but no voices came through.

For our second group, again we had activity on the Ghost Pro and some KII lights.  We detected two male spirits, a British and French soldier.  We then tried the Ouija table and had some gentle glass movement, but no communication.  We asked spirit with the Ghost Pro if they were able to move the table, and encouraged by a yes we tried this.  The table started rocking gently, and a tap was heard under the table.  The guests then wanted to try the glass on the Ouija table again, and they had movement immediately with communication; Male – Bobby – age 82 – here in 1918.  The spirit also spelt one of the guests name “Adam” to his surprise.  The spirit then seemed to want to have fun, so the guests asked for shapes, circle, bigger circle, faster, and stop and change direction – and the spirit was able to move the glass to the guests request every time when asked.  The spirit also took the glass to the edge of the table to show where he was standing – which was to Adam’s right.  The glass continued moving around the table, twisting under the guest’s fingers, even when they all had the side of their fingers on the glass.  And whilst Carl was filming he had a stone thrown on his leg, by his left knee, looking down on the floor there were several stones, and one a little bit larger which could have been the one.

Taking our third group to the Hanging Room, we had very high KII activity as soon as we walked into the room.  On walking into the room almost everyone felt uneasy, sick, dizzy, headaches, tightness of chest with difficulty breathing, and a sickness in the chest.  Myself & Carl felt a very different atmosphere from before.  We had our new team member Jo with us this time, and as a medium she was able to say who she sensed was in the room with us.  It was a male spirit, called Malcolm, and was hanged in this room.  He was very sad, had lost his family, and took his own life.  We tried to communicate with him on the Ouija table but although had little movement on the glass, no specific words.  We tried some table movement, and the table rocked quite fast, not leaving the ground but fast enough to rotate the table slightly.  Asking if the spirit needed our help to pass over, he promptly left, Jo sensing he was punishing himself by staying here.  We all stood in the room for a little bit longer, and Jo was able to sense another spirit with us.  A man in a grey/blue uniform – Sergeant Rogers – tall with dark short hair, and very dark eyes, slightly evil looking, but not an evil person.  Had an air of authority about him.  He wore very shiny shoes, and was from 1914.  He didn’t particularly like Carl, said he didn’t respect him.  Perhaps he was the spirit that had pushed Carl in this room on previous times.  Feeling this was the case, Carl stood in the corner where Sergeant Rogers was standing, asking for him to move him again.  Whilst standing there Carl felt like someone was tugging at his belt, looking around each time, no-one was near him.

Again a great night at Fort Horsted.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 8-6-2013

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 8th June 2013
Chatham, Kent

As a team we always look forward to our ghost hunts at Fort Horsted, as many of us have had some very unique experiences as well as our guests. We were also hoping that some of the things that happened during out previous visit on 18th May would happen again. The full investigation team were also in attendance so we have some video footage of the nights’ activities.

I started in my favourite area of the fort, it is also the furthest walk through some of the spookiest tunnels.

We were joined by a female spirit energy who I have seen before at this fort, and a male spirit energy who I have not seen before. The female spirit was called Annie, a nurse. The male spirit called Christopher was aged in his mid-30s about 5’9” in height and quite chubby.

The session started with some communication via our electronic devices, although no discernible activity was seen on our KII (EMF) meters. After starting a séance to prove to the guests that the spirit were indeed with us, I asked for people arms to be moved, which seemed to take a while, but once it started the spirits were able to easily move peoples arms, which the guests found perplexing and slightly scary. The arms of the guests were moved on command and at various times pointed to different people as well as pulling some people down by their arms. Throughout this session lots of strange banging sounds were heard by everyone and many guests saw shadows in the door way and the corridor beyond. I also asked that people be swayed or pushed by the spirits and it didn’t take long before many people felt like they were on a boat and Adam (guest) got pulled backwards a lot. I finished the session early because another male energy came into the room and he wasn’t a nice person. The only information I could get out of him was his name; Tom.

After the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment and although there were lots of possible ghost voices in the recordings, only two have been confirmed by our experts. You can hear these at:-

http://youtu.be/eT8QBSBBw4w
http://youtu.be/7YYveHUQ1Ik

The Second group, I also brought to this same area and once again both Annie & Christopher were both present, the nasty male energy thankfully was not.

Once again after I asked for arm movement, the spirit obliged and very quickly started to move everyone that they could, however there was also some strangeness to this as many people had their chins rubbed by the hands of other guests, why I don’t really know. Also when asking for the spirit to push or pull people many guests felt the same sensations as the first. We all felt the pulling down sensation although it was not as strong as what happened to the first group.

The Third group that ventured here had much the same activity although Nick (guest) had more activity than anyone else as the spirit energies took a liking to him and pushed, pulled and swayed him throughout the session. We were also joined by a third spirit energy called David; a Second World War soldier in his late 20s.

Once again a very active and exciting ghost hunt with the guests getting lots of paranormal experiences.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 18-5-2013

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 18th May 2013
Chatham, Kent

Fort Horsted is one of our favourite locations, not least because we have investigated here numerous times and had some truly amazing results; it is always entertaining and amazing for one reason or another. This time was no different, although equally strange as no-one could have expected what turned out to be a first for us.

Everyone was split into two groups, which was somewhat larger than normal because one of our GHE team could not attend. However since we know the Fort extremely well this did not deter me & Carl from taking the guests to the most active areas. We also chose two areas that we the furthest from each other so that no noise from either group would affect the other.

The area that I chose is an area which we often hear and feel much the same sort of stuff time after time. We were joined by Annie a female nurse aged in her 20s from The First World War who was stationed at the Fort and a 1960s male spirit who was about 50 years old and quite grumpy.

I started with a séance, as this is the best way for the guests to get a physical experience. Arm movement started to occur quite quickly and usually on command, the guests could ask which way their arms should move in their heads and the spirit would comply. I also had several KII (EMF) meters in the room which also showed spiritual activity. Many whistles, bangs and mumbling voices were heard throughout the séance, which is actually quite normal in this area. One guest felt a touch on their head. When I suggested that guests hold out their hands in a particular area of the room so that Annie could touch them, those guests that participated could feel strange tingling sensations and that their hands were being squeezed and touched and in some cases people felt that their fingers were being pulled apart.

The second group to this area were also treated to the same spirit energies and once again lots of arm movement on command was felt by the guests, as well as lots of more physical movements some of which looked painful, especially as guests were moved in ways which they wouldn’t either choose to move or wouldn’t move as they know it would be painful.

We also moved to an upper room during this session and came across a spirit called Simon who was about 20 years old and smartly dressed. In this room we heard some odd sounds, which I likened to hearing a conversation that we couldn’t hear the words, just the sound of a conversation.

We advised the guests that after the controlled sessions they could venture off on their own, but many didn’t want to so essentially we carried on with controlled sessions and I joined a group doing a Ouija board experiment. The spirit energy was Welsh called something unpronounceable although was happy to be called Caddy. Caddy had difficulty in spelling although he was able to answer some simple Yes or No questions, but the majority of his responses just kept going to the letters G and O “GO”

I took a lot of guests, probably the majority to the Counterscarp Galleries, however very little happened because there were too many people making lots of noise, however one guest did hear her name being called out, which she thought was her friends, but they were with me and neither of them called out.

The stand out moment of the night didn’t happen with me, but happened with Carl in one of the magazine rooms, as the guests were randomly taking pictures, one of them thought that their picture contained a face, so then everyone in that group took a picture and many of them, not all, had photographed a face on the wall. Carl was keen to rule out Pareidolia so looked at the wall and rubbed any loose dust from the wall. Nothing could be seen when he stood in front of the wall, but when he stood back and some more photos were taken, the face could easily be seen and photographed. Below is the picture taken by the guest and we have circled the area to look at.

Face at Fort Horsted

Photo from ghost hunt taken by Hannah Bune

I too investigated this phenomenon and have several photographs and I don’t really have a credible explanation for this, as we have hundreds of photos and videos from this Fort and of this room and we have never seen anything like this. If indeed it is a pareidolia effect then surely we would be able to all see it all the time. Which was not the case on the night.

Several EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments were undertaken throughout the night, but unfortunately nothing audible, or clearly audible could be heard in the recordings. In all of the possible EVP’s, we can hear the start of a response, but the background noise or noise made by a guest talking or shuffling ruins the possible EVP. Which is a shame as we have had many great EVP’s recorded at Fort Horsted.

All in all this was a great ghost hunt, with lots of physical and unexplainable paranormal activity felt by the guests throughout the night.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 16th March 2013
Chatham, Kent

Sean & I took our first group of 10 guests into the back area of the fort, and split in two with Sean taking 5 guests to Room 36 and me taking 5 guests to the Hanging Room.  After an explanation of how the kit works we started by asking out for spirit to step forward and make themselves known to us.  Immediately we had activity on the Ghost Pro’s and KII.  Sean started his group with a séance circle and almost straight away guests were having swaying and arm movement, and often when the guests asked how to be moved the spirit responded to their amazement.  My group tried some glass movement on the Ouija table but had no response.  After 30 mins we swapped the guests over, and my second group started with Ouija table.  They had no movement on the glass but the table rocked once.  We took this as a sign that the spirit wanted to move the table and not the glass.  The table started with gentle rocking and with encouragement from the guests the table started rocking quickly.  When spirit was asked to stop – the table stopped immediately, when asked to re-start it did.  Guests wanted the table to spin around but the spirit found a unique way of doing this, by rapidly rocking the table until it started moving around in a circle.  The guests then asked for the table to be tipped up, which spirit did, however for a few minutes it balanced almost at a right angle until it fell to the ground.  At this point our time was up and we returned for a break.  Sean’s second group had only Ghost Pro activity.

Our second session followed the same as before, but not much activity that time.

Next all guests had the opportunity to choose where to go, and Sean and I took some guests to Casement 26.  Some of the guests felt uneasy in this area, and didn’t stay too long, however we did have Ghost Pro and KII activity.  Sean & I were then joined by five more guests, and we started with a séance circle.  All seven of us had arm movements and swaying immediately.  All our fists met in the middle of the circle, and would be moved to where we wanted at request.  We used this opportunity to ask the spirit some questions, we felt that as this group of guests seemed to have been followed by the same energy all night it could be a relative.  We asked the question “If you are a relative to this people could all our arms be moved up together” the response was all our arms being moved up.  One of the guests thought it could be her nan, we asked for all our fists to be touching again if yes, and all our hands met in the middle.  The guest thought her granddad was also with us.  We then let the spirit(s) move us in whichever way they chose.  This was followed by arms being moved up down and in almost every position you could think of.  All of us being pulled to the ground then up again.  I looked across at one guest who was in a ‘superman’ position.  Sean was being stretched with his arms out at the side as far as he could go.  Four more guests joined us, the activity continued but mainly to the original guests and team members.  We were also hearing noises, 3 loud booms, voices/talking, and when we asked spirit to copy our whistle we all heard a clear response.  The movement in the circle continued, focussing mainly on Sean and the original five guests.  They were being pushed in very uncomfortable positions and when we asked spirit to stop and return people to standing positions spirit were kind enough to oblige. The guest to my left (Gavin) also felt a finger poke him in his side.  I said I thought I had felt myself being poked a moment before.  Gavin had also being filming earlier and was surprised that his battery had drained very quickly.

Our time was up so after thanking spirit for their efforts, we returned to the comfort and warmth of the base room.  Great night….

Fort Horsted – 8-12-2012

FORT HORSTED 8th December 2012

Group B

Our first group of guests were very nervous, this being their first ghost hunt.  We started with a séance circle to help calm everyone’s nerves – it helped a little.  Marc was sensing spirit behind him, and odd noises were heard, one being a wing fluttering noise several times.  We checked with Paul the Manager and he confirmed it could have been a bat (although a bat in flight seldom makes a sound).  We then tried the ouija board and had some glass movement.  Guests were getting cold breezes on their faces, and when everyone was touching the glass or writing planchette it felt very warm around their hands.  On the Ovilus we asked spirit to give their name and we heard “Steve Birkett” – “February” – “Date of Birth” – “Gemma” this was a guests name.  Throughout we kept hearing noises in the corridor, and at one time a guest and Marc came running back into the room after hearing a loud noise – this turned out to be one of the tenants in a nearby unit revving his car very loudly to let us know he was leaving.

Group C

We started with a séance circle but nothing was happening so we tried the ouija board.  Almost immediately one of the guests scarf was moved (vertically, from her abdomen area, upwards, with no one touching the scarf or in close proximity), which was seen by others, and felt by the guest.  Again just small movement with the glass.  Karen (guest) and myself used the dowsing rods – and to our amazement we had a cross for yes and an open for no shown.  We established we had the spirit of a young girl called Emily (a spirit previously known to us on other vigils) with us, and she would move the rods to exactly where we asked.  On the Ovilus Marc heard the name “Hetty” which was personal to him.  Also during this session everyone kept hearing a dog barking – it is alleged a black dog haunts the tunnels.

Group A

We started with the ouija board but had no glass movement, however Damian (guest) and myself heard a male groan between us, and at that point Marc & guests heard a high pitched female scream in the corridor.  We then all went into the opposite room to try a séance circle, except Marc who whilst alone in the room heard a male groan next to him.  During the séance guests experienced swaying, with arm movement starting with Damian first.  Danielle (guest) and myself were moved next, then Rob (guest) who was also being twisted.  We then decided to stop and try table tipping as the guests had had success with this during the previous session in the hanging room.  Immediately we had the table lift up towards Linda in response to showing us a “yes”.  With encouragement from us we were able to see the table move in many different ways when asked.  This was filmed so hopefully there will be some footage to view. Additionally, Marc captured a mist like anomaly, as well as orbs, passing in front of the video camera lense.  Other team members sought to debunk this claim, but circumstances prevailing at the time, and actual camera positioning, proximity of others, etc almost, definitely discounts their claims that it was merely breath.  Footage available for scrutiny.

Free Session

I had three guests that wanted to return to the Hanging Room where they had table tipping earlier, but wanted to try the ouija board first.  We had spirit present giving his name as “Rob” age “33” and passed in “1867”.  He also confirmed he was the British Soldier that was with these guests earlier moving the table, but not the spirit present in Room 10.  We then stopped with the ouija board and tried table tipping again.  This was a little slow to start, but started with tapping under the table.  Then with encouragement from us, the table started rocking very quickly.  We then established “yes/no” with the table tipping, and was able to confirm this was Rob with us.  We were then able to experience some amazing table movement, with the table turning rapidly and sliding across the floor too.  Spinning in one direction and when asked to change direction the table would respond.  We then wanted to establish where the spirit was standing so with myself pointing all round the room, the table tipped up for yes just to the left of the stairs.  I then remembered seeing the spirit of a British Soldier in that same place on a previous night, and when asked if that was him, he tipped the table to confirm “yes”.

Marc’s Free Session

EVP exercises carried out with individual guests whilst others engaged in the Ouija table, but quickly abandoned this idea as they felt extremely uncomfortable without the presence of a team member in the room.  Data still to be reviewed and analysed.

Once again an amazing night at Fort Horsted – we all absolutely love this venue and can’t wait to return.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 8-12-2012

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 8th December 2012
Chatham, Kent

This ghost hunt was the last to take place at Fort Horsted for 2012 and we were hoping that the spirits would make this event special; we and our guests were not disappointed.

Each member of the Ghost Hunt Events team has their favourite location within this fort and although I do not enjoy the stairs (all 192 of them) I do enjoy taking the guests to the counterscarp galleries, as something interesting usually happens to the guests.

My first group were joined by a male energy called Michael who was 27 years old, about 6’ in height and generally well built. Michael gave the year as 1950s when he worked at the Fort as a maintenance man and plumber.

During the séance part of the session Michael was easily able to move the arms of the guests, mainly on command but also into unusual positions as well. Michael also proved that he was standing behind guests by pushing them and pulling them backwards.

Many of the guests felt cold spots and temperature fluctuations around them as well as tingling sensations. Some of the guests felt the full effect of Michael’s attention and swayed these guests in all directions. Some of the time Michael wanted to stroke the chins and faces of guests. Why never became clear.

I asked that Michael should do something different as a finale and although I had an idea (as did everyone) what was going to happen, as all our arms were being manipulated towards the centre of the circle like the musketeers “all for one” salute. Then out of nowhere we all were pushed to the right in a circular motion.

I then held an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment and guests asked Michael questions about him.

There were several responses but the clearest can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/rQ8qDIVjm_c
http://youtu.be/oaKPrS3iwjk

The second group to the same area Michael was present again, but this time a female energy called Chloe had also joined us. Chloe was about 5’8” in height, blonde and dressed in a Second World War army uniform. She told me that she was a gunner (Anti-Aircraft) at the Fort during the Second World War.

Once again all the guests were treated to some interesting arm movements, which for the second time that evening mostly on command plus the face and hair stroking that the first group encountered.

This session however there wasn’t much physical movement, although some guests did get pushed and pulled but not to the same extent as the first group.

Many guests reported that they felt numb as the spirit moved them. Shadows were also seen in the doorways and at time we all heard some very strange noises, which we could not fathom.

The third group to the counterscarp galleries felt the spirit energies of both Michael and Chloe. Once again many guests felt their arms being manipulated and for the second time this evening the majority of the guest’s arms were moved to form the “all for one” salute.

Some guests also had the urge to laugh a lot as the spirit energies neared to them. Both Michael and Chloe were responsible for this as well as pushing guests into each other which proved very amusing from our point of view.

At the end of this Séance I held another EVP experiment and once again there were lots of answers to the guests questions but the majority of the answers we (and our experts) could not work out exactly what was being said, however there is one clear answer which can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/jf13g8kCAzg

After we had completed our controlled sessions the guests were then able to go to any area of the fort that they wished under supervision from us, the majority went to continue with Ouija boards in two distinct areas of the Fort.

I and another team member went off to do our own EVP recordings and although I have nothing yet to show for it, we are still analysing the results as we recorded about 20 EVPs in the space of about 10 minutes. Early indications are that we have some extremely clear answers to our questions, which will be published on the website as soon as we can complete our analysis.

All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the level of spiritual activity was extremely high, we cannot wait to return to Fort Horsted in March 2013.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 17-11-2012

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 17th November 2012
Chatham, Kent

Ghost Hunt Events as a team always enjoy going to Fort Horsted, as every time we go there something different, amazing or unbelievable happens during the ghost hunt which leaves our guests speechless. The level of activity that we have encountered at this Fort is surprising although we look forward to every event as if it were our first time there.

My first session was in a location the furthest from the other group and although we had sporadic communication via our electronic equipment, I decided that it would be better to hold a séance and ask the spirit present to interact with the guests.

Just after we started a male spirit called Michael stood in the doorway, several guests reported that they too saw a shadow in the doorway. Michael was of West African descent in his late 20s and appeared to be from the 1960s. He also told me that he was a carpenter who would have worked at the Fort at some point, he didn’t give the specifics.

Michael was able to move some of the guests arms but the majority of the time we were all hearing mumblings and whisperings from outside the room, although spirit did copy some of my whistles, which were heard by the guests. Also a lot of loud bangs were heard, although given the nature of the tunnels and that sound travels throughout these tunnels, those bangs could have been anything, although not the other group as they were too far away and not in the same tunnel complex. The whisperings and female voices on the other hand were not originating from the tunnels, but from within the room.

After a while we moved into another tunnel to see if guests felt anything strange, which is often the case however on this occasion none of the guests felt anything, but then we were a large group and the best activity here happens to small groups of people. There was however another male energy called Peter present who was able to answer some questions via our electronic equipment. Also more whistles were heard in this tunnel.

My second session was in exactly the same area, as each group just swapped for the second of our controlled sessions. Once again Michael joined us although no-one reported any movements. However many guests this time around (including me) smelt paint or white spirit which was strange as there would never be anyone painting within these tunnels. Some other guests reported smelling liquorice.

Once again we all heard female voices, mumblings and whispers although not on the same level as the previous group and after moving into the other tunnel, even less happened.

The third session was held in casement 26, which involves walking down an interesting and steep staircase below the dry moat. Whilst I was in this area with the majority of the guests I didn’t feel or sense any spiritual activity, although some guests did have some communication via our electronic equipment with a child energy.

After this final session we allowed our guests to go back to any particular area to experience any activity, although the majority of people wanted to experience the same rooms as each other, apart from three guests who asked me if we could go somewhere else and try to get some good evidence as they hadn’t experienced much all evening. So I took them to an area in which other people were unlikely to interrupt us and held a séance to encourage spirit to join us.

This was probably one of the best sessions I have had at the Fort. A male energy called Sergeant Mitchell joined us, he was 27 years old and Scottish and told me that in the Second World War he would train people at the Fort, but he was then sent to Normandy in France where he died from shrapnel wounds. He instantly liked Phil (guest) and myself because of our Celtic links (Phil is Welsh & I am Cornish) and he started moving all of the guests arms, first gently, then with more purpose as the guests got used to the strange feeling. He was also able to push and pull us usually surprising us as he did so. The guests then asked several questions (some out loud and some in their heads) which Mitchell answered by swaying some people and moving our arms to signify yes and no.

During this session, two other guests found us and whilst we were unable to let them fully join in, as we were being manipulated (by being pushed and pulled) they stood and watched. Becky who was standing nearest to us felt strange tingling pins and needle sensations as Mitchell told me that he was trying to touch her. Audrey (guest) who was part of the séance group felt her bum being touched or caressed. At the end of the séance I asked all the guests to think of a personal question to ask Mitchell as part of our EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. Many of the questions had some form of response although we have been unable to hear the exact words but three responses (out of six) had audible answers, two of which are very clear. These can be heard at

http://youtu.be/Ey3a8Q5tBeI

Once again a very enjoyable ghost hunt, although a little slow to start with, but as the night progressed more activity was experienced by the guests, especially when the two large groups split down into smaller groups. The Ouija board sessions were also very active (this will be covered in another team members report).

The ghost hunt events team were all present as we were shooting a promotional video before the ghost hunt.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt, Rochester – 20-10-2012

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 20th October 2012
Fort Borstal, Rochester, Kent

Fort Borstal is one of those sites as a Ghost Hunt company we never thought we would be able to investigate, because it is privately owned. However we were nicely surprised after the owners contacted us wanting to know whether we would be interested in investigating their Fort.

Considering this is one of the five that was built especially to protect Chatham and we already investigate Fort Horsted (which is the largest) we were very keen to see what this Fort had in terms of spiritual activity. We were not disappointed.

The approach to this Fort is strange, not least because of the lack of lighting and it certainly looks a scary place upon arrival and as my team said to me, very atmospheric.

For this ghost hunt we had three distinctly different areas to investigate; The Caponier, which as the worst staircase in the world to navigate, 92 steps down (and back up!), The Officers Mess, which was a secret area even to those soldiers stationed there in The Second World War and a third underground Caponier.

My area for the night was the main Caponier (with the wonderful staircase [sic])

The first group had varying degrees of activity on our electronic equipment; some spikes of KII activity and some communication, but I thought it would be better to hold a séance since this particular place doesn’t get any people visiting and the energy levels would naturally be low.

A male energy by the name of Thomas came forward, he told me that he was a Colour Sergeant (Sergeant Major) in the Army. He was about 6’2” aged in his 20s and of stocky build and he was wearing civilian clothing (a blue shirt). He also gave me the impression that he was a funny character and had a wicked sense of humour. The was also another male energy present; Dave a private. Both were from the Second World War era.

During the séance many voices, mumbling and footsteps were heard, although given where the other two groups were, no person on site could have been responsible for these noises.

Both Thomas and Dave treated most of the guests to some gentle arm movement as they in turn went from one person to another to manipulate them.

At the end of the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. Due to the natural echo because of the long tunnels cancelling out the background noise was quite difficult, as was listening for ghost voices, however the clearest and most audible from this session can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/9euwDXfViZc

The Second group I took to the other end of the Caponier (as it is a double Caponier).  Almost immediately there was good communication from our electronic equipment but no KII spikes. During the resulting séance a WWII Soldier by the name of Jeremy came forward and was able to move some of the guests arms. There was also a female energy present, aged about 20 years old and called Isabelle. During the séance we heard lots of noises, some in the tunnels and one very loud sound that came from the dry moat, this sounded like wood being banged (an impact sound). Several whistles we also heard, although when we heard them no-one could say in which direction the sound came from.

The Third group I took to the same area as the first group, although very little happened because the group were busy laughing and joking with each other and paying little interest to the reason why we were there i.e. ghost hunting.

The strangest sound that we heard was the sound of footfalls, as if someone was approaching but given the staircase and the fact that it was dark, we would have easily seen someone approach, as they would have needed a torch to navigate the staircase.

After we finished our controlled part of the night, we let the guests (under supervision) return to any area which they enjoyed or wanted to experience again in a smaller group or on their own.

I spent some time with another member of my team in the Officer’s Mess just for about 10 minutes or so but during those 10 minutes the both of us heard; a door slam (there are no doors to slam), lots of footsteps, knocking sounds and female voices. We also did several EVP recordings as there was a male energy present who seemed to be of great importance. This energy didn’t like either of us being there and made us feel uncomfortable. Carl who was listening with sound enhancement equipment heard some responses when I asked whether this spirit energy was from Yorkshire. Carl heard “go” “leave” and some laughing.

I too also heard sounds but couldn’t hear any words although I did have a strange chemical taste in my mouth. We both also saw some strange lights further along the corridor.

On analysing our EVP recordings the following results can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/CZe02y2bBJw
http://youtu.be/ad4R00PIaHE

After this the remaining guests joined us in this area to experience the same feelings that we had both just felt. Although the uncomfortable feeling had dissipated, probably due to the fact that any area isn’t scary when there are lots of people about, we did hear some noises, taps, knocking, whistles and some loud bangs.

However one of the guests did capture a strange photograph, which seems to have the shape of a person at the end of the corridor. Both the photographs below are copyrighted to Emma Coyle.

All in all a very enjoyable ghost hunt, especially since we were the first ghost hunting company to investigate Fort Borstal, hopefully future visits to this location we will have more activity experienced by us and our guests.
