Landguard Fort ghost hunt 29th June 2013
Felixstowe, Suffolk

After our last visit in March we were hoping for better weather as there is nothing worse than dealing with snow, fortunately this evening was very pleasant and warm.

My first session we started in the Caponier and whilst this was not as active as past sessions here communication via our electronic devices started well, as did high spikes of KII (EMF) energy seen on our meters.

Two Second World War spirit energies were just looking at us, without interacting. From here we moved into one of the magazine rooms with half of the group in the room and half in the corridor, everyone was quiet because we could hear talking and mumbling coming from the lighting passageways. We can be sure it wasn’t the other group since they were nowhere near us and two floors above us. Starting a séance in the magazine room the spirit energies joined us quickly and many guests had their arms moved at their request and sometimes against their wishes. Many guests (Louise & Aidan) were pushed, pulled backwards and swayed much to their amusement.

The two people either side of me felt a heavy weight on their arm, so much so that Aidan and myself were pulled by our arms down to the floor until our hands touched the floor. Many guests throughout this session felt tingling sensations in their hand and arms.

Carl (GHE team) who was with the remainder of the guests in the corridor were using an Ovilus (a device that enables us to hear spirit) and when they came closer to us in the magazine room we all heard “Steve”, however whether this was me or a guest called Steve we have no idea.

The second group I started in the magazine room as I wanted those guests to be physically moved by the spirit energies. Shortly after commencing the séance and asking the spirit to move us in any way possible several peoples arms were all moved at the same time as well as people being pushed and swayed. Some guests felt that they were on a boat as the swaying in some cases was very regular. Once again my arms felt heavy but this time I was not pulled down the floor thankfully. This time everyone was in the room but we still heard lots of noises in the corridor, several times we heard the sounds of people approaching us (footsteps) but no-one arrived and one particular noise was very loud that Carl went to investigate, he came back and informed us that he had seen no-one nor heard any noises. Whilst we were standing in the virtual darkness, the only light being the red one I was wearing many guests felt that something brushed past them, since I was the only person who could see everyone clearly some of the people were standing on their own and there was no physical person near them. There were however spirit energies in the room.

After we finished our controlled sessions we suggested to the guests that they venture off on their own to conduct their own vigils, as a team we would join the guests periodically.

I joined a group of guests in the Mine room, they were asking questions and recording as part of an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. There was a spirit in the room and he was called Keith Mitchell, roughly early 40s, mostly bald and quite a portly gentleman. He passed away building a mine as it exploded in front of him. Whilst in the room we all heard some odd noises and tapping. When the recording was played back there were noises in the recording that we didn’t hear at the time. Unfortunately we cannot find the recordings as we recorded about 100 hours of audio from the event, but during one of our weekly team technical sessions these recordings could not be found which is a great shame as we heard responses to the questions asked by guests.

However I have some recordings, but cannot remember where in the Fort I was at the time, although I believe this to be the Mine room.

I joined two guests at the Guard house, which is an area we often overlook because it is by the entrance to the fort. As soon as Aidan and I walked into the first room it felt oppressive and the KII meter that Aidan was holding lit up instantly. When we moved into the back room both of us commented that it felt similar to walking through treacle and then as we turned to talk to another guest the feelings and the KII activity disappeared.

I also joined Marc (GHE team) in the old ablution room (shower room) as he was attempting glass movement on a table with two guests, the strangest part was while everyone’s finger were on the glass to me the table looked to be moving as I was standing at the edge of the room. Those on the glass also said the same as they could feel the table moving below their fingers.

Some photos were taken at the end of this session and many of these had strange anomalies, not lights, but the walls looked to be reflecting light, however unlike a normal tiled bathroom there were no tiles in the room to reflect light.

Walking through the tunnels with two guests (Cheryl & Gemma) we came across the old boiler room and Cheryl took many pictures, however in one of her photos it looked like a fire in the boiler, this boiler was all rusty and had not been used for decades. Once in these tunnels we could hear many strange noises, footfalls and whispering, although we couldn’t be sure it wasn’t any other guest we didn’t come across anyone whilst walking in the tunnels.

Many guests during this free time had many strange and weird things happen to them especially those who ventured into the cells on the upper level.

All in all a very enjoyable and pleasant ghost hunt with all the guests getting some form of paranormal activity.

Landguard Fort ghost hunt – 23-3-2013

Landguard Fort ghost hunt 23rd March 2013
Felixstowe, Suffolk

It is not often that we do ghost hunts where the weather changes completely whilst we are indoors, but on this night after our first session we emerged from the tunnel complex to find that it was heavy snow and everything was white and slippery.

The first session I started with a séance after a brief session with some electronic gadgets as the spirit energies were high. A male energy called Donald joined us, he was aged in his early 20s wearing a light blue shirt and navy or black trousers, he had short brown hair, green coloured eyes and short brown hair with long sideburns. There was also a female spirit energy present that stood by the door to the room aged in her mid-40s but did not interact with us. During the séance some arm movement was experienced by the guests although this was lacklustre from what we normally encounter.

With the second group I held a séance again in a different room as we were walking with the guests I came across another room that two spirit energies happened to be present; David in his mid-50s and Thomas in his late 50s, Thomas was a boiler maintenance workman as he was dressed in a blue boiler suit with a white vest, he was also quite plump. As I asked that the spirit energies move the arms of the guests or push and pull them, very quickly some of the guests felt their arms move and some felt that they were very unstable on their feet as the spirit energies picked people at random to be moved. Much to the surprise and amazement of the guests.

After these two controlled sessions we allowed the guests to roam throughout the Fort, as it is a very large Fort with numerous rooms on two levels. During this time we give the guests some of our equipment so that they can conduct their own ghost hunt. As a team we took 10 minutes on our own to investigate the Caponier, which on previous ghost hunts has proved to be a very active area. Whilst here a young male spirit energy made himself known to me, his name was Walter and he was dressed in 1980s attire with a baseball cap on backwards, no shirt revealing his muscular build and jeans with DM boots. Whilst Walter did not do anything outstanding he was able to make the temperature fluctuate by many degrees up and down near to one member of the team.

From here we wondered around to seek out the guests to make sure that they were alright and came across a room full of new barrels (gun powder lookalikes). Whilst sitting quietly on the barrels one of them moved, which made a very distinctive noise and made many people jump!

Whilst in the upper gun rooms with some guests as we were trying to get out of the blizzard conditions that had developed outside, just as we entered a room we all heard a very distinctive “Hello”. This was spoken by a WWI soldier called Simon who was of a slim build with fair skin and Scottish. Using our Spirit boxes (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms) to allow Simon some further communication with us but unfortunately nothing notable was heard, or rather nothing that we could understand, we could hear a voice periodically but could not understand the words we heard.

Whilst in the Radio room with other guests and they were keen to tell me of their earlier experiences in this room, the exact same phenomena happened in front of us. Jerry (guest) was explaining that when he in this particular room (a telecommunications room off the main room) he was looking at the equipment and as he turned to leave the room the door closed in front of him. I was talking to him about this incident and as we both started to walk towards the door, it closed in front of us. We tried to recreate this, but couldn’t, the door did not swing of its own accord to a closed position, it did however swing to an open position. There was no breeze in this room, as any wind would have to go through several other rooms to get here in a U shape and at that time there was no strong breeze outside. Whilst we were in this room the other guests were in the main room and the door was closed and no-one opened it as it was cold outside. I did not sense any spirit in the room at this time, but that does not mean none were present or caused the door to close.

In the main telecommunications room there was a female energy present, she was approximately 20 years old and dressed in a smart way, possibly a civilian working in a military environment. As we were talking to each other there were some very high levels of EMF energy that was detected on our electronic equipment and some rather strange noises, which sounded like a piece of furniture being moved across the floor, like the sound a chair would make if it were dragged.

Once again a strange ghost hunt were activity seemed to happen to small groups of people, usually when no-one was expecting it nor when a camera was present, or as in the last paragraph, just as people were leaving a room or area. As if the spirit wanted to give us something to make us stay a little longer. We are looking forward to our return to this venue when the weather is warmer.

EVPs (Electronic voice phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments were undertaken by the team throughout the night, but nothing extraordinary was recorded.

Landguard Fort ghost hunt – 10-11-2012

LANDGUARD FORT 10th November 2012

After spending most of the evening with Steve I had the opportunity to take four guests to the Radio Control Room.  We immediately had spirit present on the Ghost Pro.  We asked spirit if he would like to communicate with us through the ouija board which he replied yes.  We had movement straight away, but very gently.  We asked for spirit to spell his name, but all we got was “yes” and lots of random small movements.  We tried the glass movement which again was very gentle and random.  Whilst doing this we were hearing noises around us which sounded like footsteps, voices and singing.  We were joined by three more guests, moved to a smaller room next door and continued having gentle movement with the glass.  After a short while it stopped and all guests split up and went off to explore the Fort. An amazing venue – too big to see everywhere in one night – can’t wait to return.

Landguard Fort ghost hunt – 10-11-2012

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

Landguard Fort Ghost Hunt, 10th November 2012
Felixstowe, Suffolk

This was our first visit to this venue. When we looked around the place it was in the height of the summer and a nice warm day, although spiritual activity was high on that day even though the place was full of tourists, so as a team we were really looking forward to this ghost hunt as the place has so much potential and it is a large venue with plenty of rooms for guests to investigate.

I had divided up the Fort into two areas for each team and during our initial walk the other members of my team couldn’t believe how much space was available and we knew that neither group would be disturbed by each other as we were far enough away from each other.

I had earmarked one particular area that I felt was going to be a good spot for any séance as even when I visited this on the site visit, it was a spooky place. This was the Caponier.

After letting the guests wander with our equipment for a few minutes in the very long tunnel, which had many rooms adjoining it I came across a male spirit called Christopher, he was a Second World War soldier (Army) who had fair skin, light coloured hair, of a slim build but about 6’ tall. Some of the guests were able to communicate with him via the gadgets. As we approached the Caponier the KII meters came alive, which led me to believe that a séance here would be very productive.

During the séance Christopher managed to move the guests arms, push and pull them and sway them from left to right and even move them in a strange circular motions.

The second group had already been accustomed to our equipment and were eager to set off in the warren of tunnels, however we immediately started at The Caponier with a séance to see what level of activity this group would have.

A male spirit by the name of Mr Bamford was present, this energy seemed to have no emotion and he was a stocky chap, square faced with dark hair. The KII meters were left around the room and showed little sign of life until the séance started, then were active throughout. The séance started with gentle pushing and arm movement, just about all the guests had their arms moved, then the spirit started to push people into awkward and painful positions, some guests were pushed into the walls of the Caponier. Many guests including myself felt a heavy pressure on shoulders and the top of our arms as well as in our backs, the spirit energy was pushing us all downwards. At one point I had to step of the circle to help guests and in doing so the weight I felt in my arms was passed onto the person standing on my right, he too felt the very uncomfortable pain on his shoulders, but this was not a downwards pressure but an upward one, which is a strange feeling. After I closed the séance the spirit energy departed.

After our controlled sessions we let the guests wander throughout the fort with any of our equipment, whilst we either accompanied them or let them investigate on their own. I spent a lot of time trying to find people as there were so many rooms and so few guests (compared to some of our other events). Whilst walking through the tunnel complex I heard a lot of bangs, metal clanking and other metallic sounds along with the sound of footsteps on a wooden floor, which was odd because all the floors were I stood were concrete. As it turned out I was alone in the tunnel complex, but didn’t know it until I had walked the whole tunnel.

I joined a few guests in the upstairs rooms of the keep, there were many female energies present here & I told the guests that if they knocked on the door they may hear a response. One of the rooms there was a female spirit called Mary, who was very smartly dressed, not military who was able to repeat knocks on command.

In one of the bath rooms I came across a male spirit called Terry who was a handyman from 1880s. Terry was able to interact with the guests through our equipment and although we cannot be sure but several times noises were heard within the bath room, unfortunately no-one could actually distinguish or agree what the sounds were e.g. wooden, metallic etc.

When walking upstairs through the gun rooms on my own I heard the sound of someone walking behind me, as I turned to talk to them, there was no one there! Guests who were in this area also heard similar sounds and one guest thought that a GHE team member had stood beside him, when he turned to speak, no-one was there!

Sean (GHE Paranormal Investigator) also heard the sound of “wet” footsteps behind him when walking on the upper levels and once again, no-one was there.

Some of the guests whilst walking in the tunnel felt a “do not approach” feeling, so badly that they came to find me to find out why. When I entered the tunnel and the surrounding magazine rooms I couldn’t sense any spirit energies and the guests admitted that it didn’t feel the same now that I was with them.

This ghost hunt was a brilliant one, as the level of paranormal activity felt by all the guests was high throughout the night. We as a team thoroughly enjoyed the Fort (and have booked more dates for 2013) as it was a pleasure to investigate a large venue where we could let our guests go anywhere they wanted without fear of any hazards. We are still analysing our video from this event but will publish any interesting clips on our YouTube channel as soon as we have finished the analysis.
