Oliver Cromwell’s House ghost hunt 13th September 2014

Area: Kitchen
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Ouija, Table Tipping

Group A  – As always, just a little bit excited when going to a venue for the first time, and Oliver Cromwell’s house did not disappoint.  Rather than start with the Ouija straight away, I passed around the pendulums and explained how to use them.  Everyone was surprised when their pendulums started moving, and once they knew their movement for yes & no, asked the spirits questions.  One person had a male spirit, the rest of us had female.  We then moved to the Ouija table, and with this being the first time for all the guests, they were thrilled to see the glass moving around.  We had the spirit of a boy aged 7, but he didn’t stay too long before he took the glass to goodbye.  We waited a couple of minutes before the guests wanted to try again.  This time we had a male spirit aged in his 90’s, but not much more movement.  However some guests were feeling hot & cold next to them.  We did try some table tipping, but only received lots of creaks under the table.

Group B – With my second group again we started with dowsing rods & pendulums.  Everyone received movement, and started asking spirit questions.  With my pendulum the spirit was male from the 1700’s, lived here but didn’t work here, and there were 4 spirits in the room with us.  We tried the Ouija table but received no movement on the glass.  Some of the guests spent some time in pairs in the larder area.  We then moved the table in front of the fireplace and tried some table movement.  After a short while the table slid one way (the table had a metal frame, and was easy to move on the ceramic floor).  Then it moved again the other way.  It then moved so it was touching someone’s foot, and seemed to use this stop and lift up on that corner.  I then said the floor is probably too slippery to lift up the other side, and with the spirit not wanting to be outdone, the table started lifting the other side!  With all seven guests’ hands on table, and myself observing, we were all amazed how the table moved very easily around the room.  Often lifting on one corner and spinning around.  Some of the guests were feeling cold spots around them.  We also noticed if I turned my torch off, or a guest that was filming on his camera stopped recording, the table would then start moving faster.  Before the table started moving, we were hearing knocks/bangs in the room.

With the free session I initially joined 3 guests that hadn’t experienced the table tipping earlier, and we were able to see some the table moving.  We asked the spirit some questions by asking the table to be moved one way for yes, and the opposite for no.  The spirit that was with us, and had been moving the table on the earlier session was female, and was known as the ‘lady in blue’.  I then ventured upstairs and with some guests doing some scrying in the mirror, and getting some great results, we went downstairs to the panel room with a Ouija board and glass.  We were all sitting on the benches, and could hear movement in the room all around us.  Of course being in a room full of wood, you will hear noises, so will be unsure of what we were hearing.  However, I did feel someone touching my leg, thinking it was a guest next to me, was surprised when turning on the torch to see he wasn’t near me.  We could feel the glass moving slightly on the Ouija board, but seemed to move a little bit more on the bench without the board.  The guests then wanted to return to the kitchen to try table tipping again, and once more the table started moving around the room in the same way as before.

Theatre Royal – 6th September 2014 – Paranormal Investigator Kym

Theatre Royal ghost hunt 6th September 2014
Margate, Kent

Area: Third floor of auditorium
Equipment: Writing Planchette, Ouija Table, Ghost Pro, KII, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group B – Kerry joined me for this session and she started with some guests on the Ouija table.  The first spirit that came through was a guests dad – and confirmed this by spelling his name – SID, but received no more.  Then the spirit of a girl came through but although receiving movement, no more information.  Meanwhile I was with guests on the writing planchette but as we were receiving no movement, we switched to using the pendulums.  The guests were very surprised by what they had.  After establishing their yes & no’s they moved around the area, especially in the back row, they were also sensing spirit around them, and some were touched and heard noises next to them.

Group C – Three guests started with the writing planchette and had movement immediately – lots of figures of 8 were drawn.  We tried showing spirit shapes/numbers under the table with our hands asking spirit to copy – the number 3 was copied very accurately when asked.  The movement of the planchette was very rapid, and deliberate, surprising the guests, especially when they took it turns to remove their fingers and it would still move with one or two.   Whilst I was kneeling next to the table I heard and felt a footstep behind me, the guest to my left heard it too, and we both looked around together thinking someone was there, but no-one.  We also heard taps on the sheet of paper that was leaning on the seat next to the guests, when asking for spirit to repeat it, the taps came again twice more.  Meanwhile on the Ouija table 5 guests were receiving a lot of movement, they had a male spirit called Taz who was an actor.  Lots of random letters, however did have the same swear word twice.  Wanting to know where the spirit was standing, the glass moved to Louise (guest).  Half joking Louise said are you sitting on my knee – the glass moved to yes.  We asked if the spirit could bounce up & down so she could feel him, and the rail she was sitting on started vibrating/moving.  Also established Louise reminded the spirit of his mum, and said they knew each other in a past life.  We did have a short time using the pendulums and again guests were extremely surprised by the movement they received.

Group D – Kerry joined me again, and they received movement almost immediately on the Ouija table.  They had a spirit of a boy age 10 – possibly Edward – he drew lots of shapes with the glass, and seemed to be drawn to Kat (guest).  As we were not receiving any movement on the writing planchette Kat suggested coming over, asking the boy to come and draw pictures.  I moved to the Ouija table to make room and the planchette started moving.  The boy was then able to draw the same shapes on the piece of paper.  Then another shape was drawn and we tried really hard to encourage the boy to draw the same shape with the glass, but only a little movement.

Group A – With my last group they knew what they were doing so was able to start with myself observing.  On the Ouija table 4 guests had a male age 64 from 1827, and was here to protect Tina (guest) who had a bad spirit next to her.  On the writing planchette they had the bad spirit talking to them.  He had murdered his wife because he loved John.  He went to prison and died there.  Both groups continued to communicate with spirit until the controlled sessions finished, then they all went off to explore with/without team.

It is fantastic to investigate a Theatre – and can’t to return!

Fort Borstal 30th August 2014 – Paranormal Investigator Kym

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 30th August 2014

Area: The Cartridge Stores
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Ouija

Group A  – Tonight I was lucky enough to be in a new area, and with my first group we started with using the pendulums.  Everyone started receiving movement, and once they had established their yes/no answers we asked the spirits questions.  Various spirits joined us, male & female, old and young, we had 9 spirits with us in total.
We then tried using the Ouija table and after a short while the glass started moving.  However after about 20 minutes of random words coming through, it seemed the spirits were staying with us briefly, then changing over.  We did notice the table creaking a lot from the frame underneath throughout.

Group B – With my second group again we started with the pendulums, and guests were able to ask the spirits questions about who they were.  We had similar responses to the first group.  We did then try the Ouija table, but only received one slight movement when just two people touching.  Again the table was creaking underneath.  We did then spend sometime on the Gun Emplacement area above, and some guests kept seeing a white shadow.  When we returned downstairs to return equipment to our room, two guests heard an unusual noise, growl/stomach noise.
Free Session – I joined most of the guests back in the cartridge stores as they had been trying to get some glass movement.  Again we had some slight movement, but as the table kept creaking underneath, we tried some table tipping.  However the table only lifted up once.
Interesting area, and one I look forward to returning again.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 18-4-2014

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 18th April 2014

This particular venue is a favourite with many of our team, the reason behind this is that we now know what areas of the Fort are the most active and can more or less guarantee some form of paranormal activity when in those particular areas. We look forward to every visit because this fort is very active, very haunted and although we know what to expect, we still get surprised by what happens to the guests.

As always I choose to hold my sessions in the Counterscarp galleries, not only is the area very interesting as it involves walking through a very long tunnel, but it is also the most physically demanding as the staircase goes underneath the dry moat. The level of activity here changes from one investigation to another although there are always similar experiences felt by the guests.

The first group we encountered a male spirit who I have met before in this particular part of the Fort. His name is Biffa or Bernard to his mum, aged in his 30s and another spirit called Justin, both it seems were prisoners who were put to work to build the fort in the late 1800s.

The séance session started with some gentle arm movement, mostly on the instructions of those who asked for it, those guests who didn’t say anything or encourage the spirit to move them remained stationary. Once those guests who were actively encouraging the spirit to move their arms they then asked for the spirit to move or push them. Within a matter of minutes several guests were being pushed, swayed or pulled backwards. Some people were also being moved in circular motions.

The second group to the Counterscarp galleries felt some movement but the majority of the guests wanted to ask questions and conduct their own ghost hunt and use their ghost hunting equipment. It transpired from their questions that the spirit that was present was also a prisoner who had murdered his mother, a dog and prostitutes of Rochester. This spirit died in prison.

On our way out several of us clearly heard footsteps behind us as we walked out of the tunnel and back to the main part of the fort.

The third group we were joined by a familiar spirit (to me) his name was Captain Daniel Bedford, a First World War soldier. Daniel started to move the hands and arms of the majority of guests which quickly transpired into twisting people’s arms together. Several times the people either side of me felt a weight in their arms which resulted in us being dragged down to the floor by our arms. Michelle (guest) said that she didn’t want to face the floor but no matter how many times she said this and resisted the sensation, she ended up on the floor!

Many people of the group were being pulled downwards by their arms, but once on the floor the movements continued and several guests and I were pulled backwards so that we were lying on the floor. This has happened before but never have so many people been involved, it was a chaotic scene with people not only on the floor but arms entwined and to the point where none of us had any idea how we could untangle ourselves and remain holding hands. The spirit however knew exactly how to untangle people, although this wasn’t a quick operation.

At the end of this séance session I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. The results of this will be published at a later date.

Unusually I decided to hold another séance with the intention this time of the spirit moving everyone in turn so that all the guests could feel and hopefully know that they were being moved by unseen hands rather than being pulled by someone they were holding hands with. Daniel complied with this and moved everyone in more gentle ways by pulling them backwards so that each person had to take a step back to avoid falling over. During this time and to avoid people being consciously aware that they were moving all the instructions to the spirit were asked by me as thoughts, therefore none of the guests knew who I was asking Daniel to move, the guests only knew it was them when they found themselves being moved!

At the end of our controlled sessions, we allow the guests to go to the areas that they want to, to conduct their own ghost hunt or to experience a particular area on their own. I joined a group in the Caponier during a Table Tilting & Ouija board session.

As soon as I entered the room I saw a spirit that I had not seen before. He was called Cecil, who was a well-spoken Second World War soldier who was busy moving a table at guest’s request.

I also joined in with the Ouija board which is something I don’t often do, because as I was explaining to the guests I ask questions about things I want to know the answer to, not what the spirit did when they were in a physical body nor anything to do with my life. I want to know the answers to questions which are more spiritual in nature. The spirit energy who was called Robert, another World War Two soldier answered by using the letters and numbers of the Ouija board. Below are the questions and answers.

Q: What colour is the sky in the spirit world?
A: Red.
Q: How many levels of the spirit world exist to your knowledge?
A: 3
Q: What is the largest animal in the spirit world?
A: Oup, a whale

After asking these I then asked the spirit to use the numbers as a scale of difficulty (0-9) for different activities that we ask of all spirit.
Glass work = 3, EVP = 7, Table tilting = 8, Ouija board = 3 or 4, Séances = 9, Manifestation or moving inanimate objects = 99

This was an excellent ghost hunt, with lots of people feeling, sensing and experiencing paranormal activity first hand and participating in paranormal experiments that they had not encountered before.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 15-3-2014 (Kym)

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 15th March 2014

This was a very different investigation, whereby at the start of each session the guests choose where they wanted to go based on which team were doing in that area.

For my first session myself and Sue went to Area 10 doing Ouija boards.  We had two tables set up and four guests went on one, the other three went on the other.  The object of this session was to try and get spirit to do similar things on each table.  Of course that is when both glasses are moving.  Eventually this did happen but it was two different spirits who were unwilling to co-operate together.  Gavin (guest) started feeling very angry and had to leave the area.  He told us later that he could see an old man with a white beard who was very angry with what we were doing, Gavin felt like he wanted to pick up and throw the glass.

On the other table the spirit was very willing to communicate, telling us they were female, age 45, spelt her name as Miles, and was from Hungary in 1785.  She was not connected to the fort or the area, and had chosen to come because she wanted to, and we were here.  One of the guests asked if she was connected to anyone here, answered yes.  When asking to take the glass to that person it moved towards me who was filming.  I asked if I knew her in a previous life, answered yes.  I asked how many lives she had lived, answered 39.

Sue was in one of the side rooms with guests, and they all heard what sounded like a large dog barking, however we hadn’t heard it in the corridor.  At the end of the night a group of three guests came back from that area and reported they had heard a dog barking, surprisingly they wasn’t aware we had heard that earlier.

For my second session I was with Carl in the Hanging Room.  This was to be a lone session, whereby the guests had the opportunity to spend some time on their own if wanted.  We started with all six of us in the room together.  Three of the guests were using Hearing Enhancers.  I had a KII which lit up several times.  I saw a flash of white light on the stairs at the same time as all of us heard three footsteps in the room.  Two guests and Carl who were in this room before said that was what happened earlier.  We turned on the Spirit Box and Ovilus, and requested spirit give the same word on each device.  We had some words on the Ovilus but nothing relevant, however we did receive the following words on the Spirit Box; female “help”, female “Carl”, female “hello”, male “hello”.  Near the start of this session Gavin (guest) had a voice recorder positioned on a tripod at the top of the stairs, and very quickly the battery died.  When returning to base, to his surprise he had nearly a full battery again.

We then asked if the guests wanted some time in the room alone, so I took Emily and Gavin downstairs, whilst the girls stayed with Carl.  Gavin & Emily using the Ghost Pro had a male soldier with them.  Upstairs the girls and Carl were asking spirit to affect the new kit Carl had.  It was a Rempod positioned at the top of the stairs on a tripod.  It would light up when someone touched it or the tripod.  It reacted to vibration not sound or movement.  We could hear them very excited when the lights started going off.  With that 10 minutes had elapsed so we swapped the guests.  Again I was downstairs and we could hear the lights were still going off, so we finished the session with all of us in the room.  And still with much encouragement from all of us the lights continued to be activated.

With my third session I returned to the Hanging Room with Sue for a Ouija session.  We had eight guests, so four went on each table.  We had movement on both tables, but again couldn’t get spirit to do anything similar on each table.  However the spirits that came through on both tables were connected to people there, bringing great sadness and joy to those there.

For my fourth and final session I returned to Area 10 with Jeff & Julie (guests).  We had some movement with the glass, and with the spirit confirming on the ghost pro they wanted to do some table tipping, all we had was some creaking under the table, and very slight movement.

A fun night, with everyone having the opportunity to do something different – guests and team!

The Star Hotel ghost hunt – 25-10-2013 (Kym)

The Star Hotel, Alfriston – 25th October 2013

I was in the main room with the Ouija table, trying glass movement/Ouija/writing planchette and table tipping.  I started with my first group using the Ghost Pro & KII, however as they seemed to be lighting up very erratically we choose not to use them (later when chatting to other team members they all experienced the same).  With no immediate movement with the glass on Ouija table we did a séance circle to build the energies.  I started to feel a heavy weight on my right shoulder, I asked spirit to do this to others and immediately it left me and moved to a guest.  Others were swaying and one guest felt a cold breeze behind her (no windows open).  We then tried the writing planchette and to our surprise it started moving.  I went elsewhere in the room and drew a circle with a line through it, asked spirit to copy this with the guests and it did.  When asking spirit to copy another picture, it seemed to want to play and do his own thing.   We asked spirit to take the planchette to the edge of table to show where he was standing, and when it did guests could feel cold between them.  The planchette then started lifting on one corner, and when the guests looked the side that lifted up was where most of their fingers were.  Asked spirit to lift it higher which it did.  We then asked spirit to draw the number of how many human females were in the room – it drew 4 – correct.  Asked spirit to draw the number of human men in the room – it drew 3 – correct.  The planchette started moving in rapid circles, and when guests took it in turns to ask spirit to change direction, the planchette would stop and change direction every time.

With my second group we tried the writing planchette and had slight movement.  We tried table tipping and again very slight movement.  We then tried glass work and it started moving very gently, we felt possibly a female or young girl.  We tried asking her name and age but just got the letter A and 5, 6 or 7.  I had been thinking of the name Annabel, Julie (guest) had been thinking of the name Alice.  Then the energy seemed to change and the glass started moving faster around the table.  We received no definitive words but the spirit was willing to move in rapid circles and stop and change direction when anyone asked.

With my third group as we had no movement on the writing planchette and glass, we held a séance circle to build some energies again.  The guest to my left started swaying, then I did too and we seemed to be swaying at the same time in sync.  Then she started feeling a heavy weight on her right shoulder.  Her hand was being pulled to the floor.  This continued until her hand touched the floor, and however hard she tried, she was unable to pull her hand off the floor.  We asked spirit to move us back up, and after much asking we were standing upright again.  Then we started feeling the pull down again, we fought against this, which we found extremely difficult, and eventually spirit seemed to give up and move away.

At this point Steve and his group joined us as the free session had now started.  We all stayed in this room and tried the writing planchette again.  Steve could see the spirit of Jeremiah with us, wanting to draw for us.  The spirit was able to draw for us a balloon with string, and a triangle, which Steve had asked for.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 19-10-2013 (Sue)

1st Session – Group B

I was based in Room 10. Almost as soon as we had arrived the Ghost Pro devices were lighting up red to indicate that spirit was with us.  We all joined hands and begun a séance circle asking spirit to interact with us. A female guest said that her face had been touched and she had cold spots down one side. We began to ask questions and spirit was giving us their answers via the Ghost Pro flashing once for yes or twice for no. We established we had a gentleman, who had worked here. He is a real character. I asked the guests would they like to try the Ouija Board, which they all agreed they would like to try, so we moved into the room on the right. We put a glass in the centre of the Ouija board and asked the spirit gentleman if he could move the glass for us to indicate he would be willing to talk to us. The glass didn’t move at first so we all took in turns to say hello and introduce ourselves to him. Spirit was very reluctant to go to any letters on the board. So we asked Spirit to move the glass to the moon drawn on the board for yes, the star in the centre as a neutral position and away from the star for no. Once we established this he was quite happy to talk to us. He was under 30 yrs old, married with three children and was still looking for his wife, who he believes is still in this Fort. Something had happened to his throat as me and another female guest could feel pressure on our throat and had a strange taste in our mouth. Quite a few of the guests noticed rapid temperature changes and had the feeling they were being watched. Spirit moved the glass round in a circle and then drew a square and a zig-zag. The guests where so shocked as this was their first experience of glass work. The whole time this was happening the ghost pro device was flashing and responding to our questions as well. Also one of the guests was using the dowsing rods and getting the same yes or no responses as the ghost pro device.

2nd Session – Group C

As my first session had been so active on the board we decided to attempt the Ouija straight away. So after all introducing ourselves by saying hello spirit my name is…. The glass began to move again. The glass was moving to letters but they were very random and didn’t make sense. We heard what sounded like footsteps coming from the area next door so we decided to investigate. We formed a séance circle and I encouraged guests to call out but we didn’t hear any other noises. I said would any of the guests like to perform a lone vigil away from the others. Four of the men very bravely decided to stay together but go to another area. I put two of the male guests in one part of the tunnel with a laser grid. I explained they needed to keep calling out to spirit and ask the spirit to stand inside the grid and block out the lights of the laser. The other two male guests I moved further down the tunnel and gave them a ghost box pro device. I told them to ask questions that would have a yes or no answer and see what response they got from spirit. I returned to the remaining four female guests and we went back on the Ouija board. Straight away the glass begun moving, not answering any of our questions but spirit drew with the glass a circle, a square, a zig zag and a figure eight. This was filmed by Jason my team member, so hopefully we have some video footage to show you. Whilst spirit was moving the glass we asked could the spirit touch one of the male guests on the shoulder that I had placed in the tunnels. Once again the ghost pro devices we very active but we had no activity on the K2 meters. At the end of the vigil we checked with the male guests had anything happened to them. The guests with the laser said nothing had happened but the guests that had been further down the tunnel had had activity with the Ghost pro flashing yes and no to their questions. The best bit was James (Guest) had said something had touched him on the back of his neck. So Another great session.

3rd Session – Group A My last session was very different. The glass would not move at all, even thought it had been responding so well on the previous two vigils. The guests had such low energy levels that I even got them to sing a song to try and raise their energy. We formed a séance circle and I tried to encourage the guests to call out and ask spirit to interact with us. I always say the more energy and enthusiasm you have, the more spirit will respond but if you stand there and don’t say anything then spirit wont be willing to do anything for you in return. The only guest that had anything was Vicky. When we were all stood in séance, Vicky was using dowsing rods and asking questions. Vicky was stood just outside the circle. Suddenly she screamed and quickly joined the circle as she said had felt someone brush against her hair and ear and she had really jumped. The rest of the vigil was really quite with no activity on the Ghost Pro, K2 or the Glass.

Overall a great night. Some great activity on the ghost pro device. The glass moved and drew various shapes on command.  Two guests were touched. Also a pleasure for me to reassure people that the Ouija is safe when used correctly and with respect. I know a few of the guests were worried at first but left with a new understanding and respect for the Ouija Board. Fort Horsted is always an interesting location and one I enjoy as it is different every time I visit.

For the evening I was on the upper level in the ramparts with Jason filming with me.  In our first room we explained how the equipment (Ghost Pro & KII) worked.  The guests had some interaction with spirits on the ghost pro’s.  We then moved to the Gun Room and held a séance circle.  It felt very uncomfortable in that room, I was feeling dizzy with a headache and difficulty breathing.  Jason was feeling it too with a headache.  I kept being pushed back – I felt the spirit didn’t want me or us there.  A male guest was being pushed back too.  The female guest to his left felt blowing in her ear.  To her surprise when asking spirit to blow in her other ear it did, and not just once.  Another female guest felt her neck being tickled, then she felt it continue down her back.  Noises were being heard around us too, and Jason and Simon (guest) heard a ringing noise.  We then moved to the next room where we had set up the Ouija table and more equipment for the guests to use.  The glass on the Ouija table moved slightly, guests were feeling cobwebs and tingling, one guest whilst touching the glass felt his finger go very hot.  Gemma (guest) was having positive responses with the dowsing rods.  We swapped the guests on the table so everyone got an opportunity to try, and we tried some table tipping.  We were hearing creaks underneath the table but no movement.  When we asked spirit to copy our taps we heard some taps back in response but not to our pattern.  However some of the time one of the guests could feel the correct taps underneath his hands.  As we all left the room, Jason was last to leave and heard a loud bang behind him.  Thinking it was a ghost pro fallen, he looked and couldn’t find anything.

With the second group again we explained the kit in the first room as they hadn’t used any on their first session.  Some interaction with spirits was experienced.  We then all went to the gun room and held a séance circle.  The guests standing to my left, their hands holding each other started moving up.  They took it in turns to ask spirit which way to move and to their surprise their hands moved to their request.  Other guests were being swayed.  We then went to the next room and tried some glass work on the Ouija table but nothing.  Tried some table tipping and felt some vibrations and taps.  Jason and guests heard what they thought to be the chain moving on two old bikes in the room.  We could hear some noises outside the room too.  Some guests then went into the cells for a short while before the break and one guest heard the door creak but when moving the door to his surprise it did not creak!

With my third group we went straight to the gun room and held a séance circle.  To our surprise we had activity on the KII for the first time.  The guests were asking the spirit communicating with us on the ghost pro’s if they were related to anyone here, and were receiving positive responses.  As no-one was having any type of movement we stopped the circle and as we all left the room, with Jason last, the doors at the opposite end flew open.  The doors were only pulled shut, not properly closed with the latch so we all questioned whether it was wind (although it was not a very windy night).  We all reconstructed the event, opening the doors one end to leave, all left the room with Jason remaining to film.  We all stood outside the opened door and watched through the room to see if the other doors opened.  To our amazement after a few minutes they flew open again.  Then as Daniel (guest) went to walk back into the room the door he was about to walk through closed on him.  This happened again when he tried to enter the room.  I left five guests and Jason in that room and took Drew and Tanya (guests) to the Ouija table as they thought they had a family member with them.  Although no movement with the glass, we had turned the Ovilus II on and the words coming through had personal meanings to the guests connected with a relative passed over.  With the remaining guests and Jason joining us, Drew & Tanya stepped away from the table to continue with the Ovilus, whilst the other guests sat at the table.  Immediately the glass started moving for them and by asking a few specific questions were able to verify that Daniel’s (guest) mother was with them.  This brought joy to them all and many questions were asked, with some amazing replies.  Daniel’s mum remained with them for the next hour.  All asking questions to validate more the spirit that was with them.  Much happiness was felt, along with lots of tears.  Daniel’s mum was taken too early and it was clear that she was dearly missed.  Throughout we also had lots of KII activity, always around Daniel, showing where he mum was standing.  When we felt that area pockets of warmth was felt.

Now into the free session the guests decided to have a wander with kit, and Jason & I stayed in the room.  Jason was playing some WWII music, and the atmosphere started to change.  The temperature dropped rapidly until we were both shivering with cold.  We felt that several spirits had joined us.  The empty chair next to us kept creaking as if someone was sitting there.  Other noises were heard around us.

A great night as most of the guests were new to ghost hunting and many were sceptics…but all seemed to be converted by the end of the night!

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt – 14-9-2013

The Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 14th September 2013
Colchester, Essex

This was our 4th visit to The Red Lion Hotel of 2013 and since we always enjoy the experience because the level of activity at the hotel always changes but there are always some common paranormal occurrences that the guests experience.

Both my sessions were in the cellar because it is here that the guests often experience the true capability of spirit energies and the level of activity is always better than the rest of the hotel, mainly because the cellar hasn’t changed for many years.

The first group to the cellar we were joined by a male energy called Colin Warden, aged in his mid-30s and passed away in 1984 in Colchester after being involved in a road traffic accident.

First of all Colin started to sway people especially Jade (guest) as he was also carrying out my instruction to move people’s arms. Many guests felt their arms move, often in strange and uncomfortable positions and mostly these movements were on command as I asked the guests to ask in their heads the direction that they wanted their arms to be moved. Colin obliged although he also did his own thing once he figured out how to move people.

During this séance lots of strange noises were heard, many of them coming from behind the walls away from the outside noise of vehicles. Shareena (guest) thought she was looking towards a window as she commented that she had just seen an outline of a person walk past the “window”, but I pointed out that there was no window and when the session finished and the lights came on Shareena was really surprised that there wasn’t anything that even looked like a window.

Many guests during the séance felt hot and some felt cold but his changed rapidly as Colin made his way around the circle and several people reported that they felt as if they were being watched which made them feel uncomfortable.

Towards the end of the session I became aware that there was another spirit with his, he was called Gordon and he is also a spirit that I have seen before at the Red Lion, although on this occasion he didn’t interact with the guests.

One of the guests also felt there was a girl aged about 7 years old called Emily with us, but I couldn’t confirm this as I didn’t see any child spirit.

The second group to the cellar we had much the same arm movement activity at first. But this time the spirit (Colin) couldn’t move around the circle as the energy wasn’t good enough (the guests weren’t encouraging him), therefore I had to move around the circle for those opposite me to sense and feel the spirit energy.

David (guest) who I stood beside felt lots of movement and as the spirit (Colin) moved him forwards and backwards and then proceeded to pull him by his arms down towards the floor. No matter what either of us said which at that point was “up” Colin dragged us down.

Once the spirit had moved or touched the majority of people very little else happened because the guests were not encouraging Colin to do anything, just standing in silence. I therefore finished the séance and we finished the session.

After our controlled sessions I joined a group of people in the outer cellar area for a Ouija board session. The spirit spelt his name as Puw and was able to answer all the questions posed by the guests. We also tried using a glass since Puw didn’t want to answer too many questions and the guests were really impressed that the glass ran around the rim of the table at great speed and was able to stop and move in the opposite direction when asked.

Various noises were also heard during this session that were not related to us or outside as it sounded like someone rearranging baubles on a Christmas tree.

I also joined some guests in room 7 where we heard some names on the spirit box (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies at 100ms in reverse) but unfortunately they were not the names of the people present.

In a short session in the Parliament Restaurant any guest that stood in a particular part of the room felt the same sensations. The sensation of being dragged backwards through the wall.

This was an enjoyable ghost hunt for some people, although it could have been better across all groups if those present actively encouraged the spirit energies to do something. Standing or sitting in silence is never going to encourage anyone to do anything. Our events are participation events, where everyone has to want to participate and to encourage the spirit to do something.

Red Lion Hotel – 14-9-2013

Red Lion Hotel Ghost Hunt 14th September 2013

I was in rooms 6 & 7 for the night, and with my first group we started in room 6 with the writing planchette.  We had slight movement, but what did surprise us the planchette kept lifting up.  Two guests went into room 7 whilst the rest stayed in 6 and tried scrying in the mirror.  The guests were seeing an older man with a goatee beard (which surprised me as guests had seen exactly this the last time I was here in room 4).  Leaving the guests continuing with this I checked the guests in room 7 and they wanted to try some glass work, so setting this up we had the glass moving around the table immediately.  All the guests in room 6 joined us, and the guests all had the opportunity to experience this.  The glass continued to move around the table, in rapid circles when asked, however feeling the spirit was male (possibly Jack or Michael) when we did ask them to stop/change direction/move in a different way, we joked they were being arrogant and not responding to our requests, continuing to do their own thing.

With my second group we started in room 7 and whilst trying to get some glass movement, Jade (guest) felt her hair being tugged.  She described it as if one strand of hair was being pulled.  When she asked, slightly reluctantly, for it to be done again she felt her hair being pulled again.  When asking spirit to do this to others, her friend to her left felt it too.  Jade could also feel a coldness and presence to her left, which others felt too.  When holding the KII there it would light up.  I took photos at this time and orbs were seen on and around Jade.

We all then went to room 6, and with no movement on the writing planchette and glass we tried scrying.  Everyone looking saw changes – an older woman.  When we returned to the hub, Steve said he was watching us on the remote cameras and could see the spirit of an older woman standing in front of the person trying to show us her face.  He also saw the spirit of a man sitting on the bed with us!

With the end of the controlled sessions the guests had the opportunity to explore on their own with equipment.  For the last hour I took 6 guests down to the cellar and tried the ouija table + glass.  We had no movement on the glass, having a positive response on the ghost pro tried table tipping.  We needed patience this time and must have waited 10-15 minutes before we could feel the table lifting up one side and back down.  After making sure everyone was back away from the table so all guests could clearly see underneath we asked spirit to lift the table up again.  The table this time lifted up one side several inches, and with all our fingertips very lightly on the table, stayed there for several seconds.  We asked spirit to do this again, but unfortunately no more movement.  However myself and Dave (guest) felt cold touches to our hands, and Dave was then shocked more by feeling the coldness travel up his arm.

A fabulous night at the Red Lion, never fails to surprise us….looking forward to coming back on Halloween!
