Pendulum, Dowsing Rod & Writing planchette

These are considered the traditional tools of the trade because they have been used for many years to contact and communicate with spirits. They all have other uses too, from finding water and oil (dowsing rod) to healing people (pendulum) to tricking people (writing planchette). The purpose of these tools is to communicate with the spirits using guidelines practised over many years.

Both pendulums and dowsing rods are used for binary questions (i.e. yes/no, left/right, male/female, good/bad) whereas a writing planchette can be used in a similar way to automatic writing; asking the spirit to draw/write something. There are no limitations on what the spirit can do, only their own ability.

On events it is very easy to get “addicted” to the modern devices (KII, Ghost Pro, Ovilus) to get your evidence but there is a better likelihood to get a better answer or a clearer answer using these tools as there is little scope to misinterpret the answer. As with all tools or devices it depends on the questions or how you ask the questions as to the clarity of the answer. We like using these because of that reason. The answers can be personal to the user and the user can feel the answer and know what is right or wrong from how the pendulum or dowsing rod feels. The writing planchette is a little different because its ideal when several people use it at the same time (about 4) with the questioner (the person asking the questions) not touching it.

You can purchase these items from many places including pagan style shops, Rune or Tarot card shops and online at Amazon or eBay. Prices range from £3 – £20 depending on the style and quality of the materials.

Red Lion Hotel – 1st October 2016 – Kym

Monday, January 23rd, 2017

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 1st October 2016
Colchester, Essex

Area: Cellar
Equipment: Table Tipping, Dowsing Rods & Pendulums
With all my groups, we started by using the dowsing rods & pendulums, and everyone could communicate with spirit, and some were feeling the presence of spirit too.  We would often ask spirit to point the rods to where they were standing, and we could back that up by feeling their presence.  One time we would move around the area, still sensing the spirit behind us and the rods would continue to move with us.  With the Table Tipping we were all getting some movement, with my first and last group we did ask spirit to copy our taps and whistles, and both times we had a response back.  One guest also felt a cold touch to his face from where we heard the whistle.  In my last group, we asked spirit to rotate all the pendulums clockwise if he wanted to join us for table tipping, and to our surprise they all did.  Whilst table tipping in that last session we asked spirit to walk the table to where he was standing, of which it did, and in that area the guests could feel coldness there.  With such a strong response on the table, using yes & no movements, we could communicate with the spirit.  At one point Janet (guest) asked a question that the spirit did not like (did you murder someone?) and the table walked rapidly to her taking her very much by surprise!  We continued to communicate with this spirit into the free session, and with Mike’s (guest) knowledge on the history of Colchester, we established this spirit was a Parliamentarian Soldier who fought in the 1648 Colchester Siege.  He felt responsible for the murder of his troops he sent to fight.  At this point, everyone felt an immense sadness.  We asked if he had passed to the other side, he answered no.  We asked if he needed help to pass over, and the table rocked to yes and no.  At this point we asked the spirit to go to the light, do not be frightened, and you will not be judged.  And immediately we all felt his presence go.  Thank you to Group A for sharing that experience with me – very special.

Rye Castle – 9th October 2015 (Kym)

Thursday, October 22nd, 2015

Rye Castle ghost hunt 9th October 2015
Rye, East Sussex

Area: Womens Tower/Prison
Equipment: Writing Planchette, Glass Work, Table Tipping, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group B – We started by using the dowsing rods & pendulums and everyone had movement except the male guest and Ted (curator).  There were several female spirits communicating with us, and we could feel the energies walking amongst us.  Ted was getting pushed back, sensing the energies didn’t want the men in the room.  We tried some table tipping and had continuous gentle rocking, no difference with females only touching.  We tried the writing planchette, but the table just kept rocking.  Tried some glasswork but only a little movement and again the table still rocked.  Switched back to table tipping which moved a lot, but gently.  Chloe (guest) started feeling sick, and felt like someone was holding her hips and gently rocking her.  She went outside for a short while, and came back when feeling better.  She also had an odd sensation of feeling like she had been here before.  We were all feeling a lot of energy around us, and were also being rocked with the table.

Group A – Started with the rods & pendulums but not much movement, although using my pendulum spirit confirmed he was the male spirit I had encountered before, and he would move the table for us, so we tried table tipping.  The table moved immediately however Tania (guest) felt the spirit did not want her on the table, and when she stepped back the table moved a lot more.  Again we were sensing when the spirit was behind us, and some of us felt unwelcome prods to our backs and arms.  We did also hear one heavy footstep near us, then a loud tap, then also a tap on the door, but when we looked out there was no-one there, and we hadn’t heard anything in the gravel outside.  We did some glasswork and got some answers: male spirit, was a jailer here, abused 30 women prisoners here, and other women that he brought here.  He was here in the 1200’s.  Using the writing planchette he drew the letter B.  Asked if this was his first initial he said no, asked if this was the initial of someone here – yes, however no-one had a name starting with B.  I asked if he knew someone here from a past life, he said yes, and that person’s name started with B.  Not everyone was comfortable knowing who it was so we didn’t ask.  We had some more random writing, then finished that session with some table tipping.

In the free session we wanted to try an experiment:  in the main tower we had some guests on the top level doing writing planchette, and some guests in the basement doing glasswork.  Some guests with Steve chose a number/shape for spirit to copy on both experiments, and was very pleased when the glass copied the number correctly.

I then joined some guests in the Women’s Tower and we started with table tipping.  We had the male spirit again, and were amazed by the amount of energy the spirit had.  We felt this by trying to push the table back down but was unable to.  The table would spin and walk around the room too.  We tried some glasswork and the spirit confirmed he was the jailer.  Asked if had done another job, yes he was a fisherman.  Neither paid well, but he stole.  He was caught and sent to prison.  He was murdered in prison.  Whilst he was a jailer he confirmed again that he abused the women here, but that he also liked men sexually.  Asking the colour of his hair, he had ginger hair and beard.  As the spirit seemed very willing to work with us we asked him to rotate the glass fast around the table, and then guests took it in turns whilst not touching the glass asking in their head for spirit to stop the glass and change directions, and to their amazement this happened correctly every time.  Guests also took it in turns to think of a shape/letter/number, and spirit would draw this about 50% of the time.

A fabulous night at Rye Castle, and we all look forward to returning there in Spring 2016.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 28-3-2015 (Kym)

Sunday, April 5th, 2015

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 28th March 2015
Chatham, Kent

Area: Hanging Room
Equipment: Ouija, Table Tipping, Writing Planchette, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group C – We started with 4 guests on table tipping, and the other 4 on Ouija.  The guests on the table had worked with spirit before so immediately starting getting movement.  They asked spirit to move the table showing yes & no, and were able to identify the spirit with them.  It was a male spirit called Ned, aged 34, had been strangled at the fort, and was Saxon.  On the Ouija we didn’t get any movement, so we started using the dowsing rods & pendulums and was able to ask spirit some questions.  We then swapped the guests over.  The table did start moving slightly, but we also heard taps underneath the table.  We then switched to the writing planchette, and stating that we only had 8 minutes left, the writing planchette started moving and drew and number 8.  As we were feeling the table moving we said if this spirit was a male, surely they cannot move both, but to our surprise the planchette and table both started moving.  And again we were hearing taps underneath the table.  The other group were using the rods and were getting lots of movement.

Group A – With this group the table started tipping immediately, and it was still Ned with us.  As only slight movement on the Ouija, everyone went on the table.  After a lot of movement, the table went quiet for a short while, but as soon as I suggested we try the writing planchette, the table started moving again.  They table ‘walked’ from one end of the room the other.  We then asked spirit to take the table to where he was standing, and the table walked to the top of the stairs, where I and Tim (guest) were standing.  We asked spirit some more questions, lifting the table towards myself and Tim for yes, away for no.  Ned was from Hungary, in the 1200’s, had three sons – Thomas, Sid and Rob.  The guests were asking spirit to give this information to them in their heads, and some guests were getting the same information.  The table would lift yes/ no to confirm this.  He also had a wife called Laura who had died in childbirth.  Two guests had pain in their lower back, and spirit confirmed he had affected them.  When asked to take the pain away, their backs stopped hurting.  We finished the session with spirit moving the table rapidly around the room, spinning in many random movements, to the point with just three guests touching the table with their ‘pinkies’.

Group B – Again we had Ned with us again, moving the table immediately for the guests.  Lots of spinning, tipping and rocking.  On the Ouija we had some movement, a male spirit aged 23 with he initials EJU.  He said there were 6 spirits in the room with us.  We did try the writing planchette and this time had a lot of drawing.  Asking spirit to draw his first initial a letter N was drawn.  Asking spirit to write the number of people touching the planchette (there were five) the number 5 was drawn.  After the session had finished, one guest said he had felt a tug on his trousers when I started with the circle.  With all of us holding hands he felt surprised to have felt this.
In the free session I joined two girls with a KII & Ghost Pro in the tunnel in area 10.  We did hear footsteps walking towards us, and felt tingles on us too.  Then we joined some more guests in room 10 table tipping.  The spirit that was with us was a French male that had been in this area earlier.  He was able to answer some questions by lifting the table to show yes & no.  He had passed over between 50 – 100 years ago, of natural causes aged over 50.  He had fought in WW2.  He was not connected to the fort, but his wife had worked here.  He was unhappy because his wife had an affair, and had a child with this man.  Although being unhappy he still felt happy to be here with us, and was able to move the table a lot.  We asked if he could make a noise that we could here, and we heard a whistle in the room.  We asked again and there was a whistle heard in the corridor.  We asked again as some guests were still unsure if they had heard it, and everyone heard a whistle again next to us.  Three female guests wanted to visit the new area above us, whilst the rest of us returned to base.  When these guests returned they said as they had been leaving the tunnel in the new area they heard a very loud female scream in the tunnel.  They stopped and started to return to the tunnel, but on hearing the scream again, decided not to go any further.

Would definitely like to check out that area when we return.

Rye Castle – 10th October 2014 (Kym)

Rye Castle ghost hunt 10th October 2014
Rye, East Sussex

Area: Women’s Tower/Prison
Equipment: Writing Planchette, Glass Work, Table Tipping, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group B – This was my first visit to Rye Castle this year, so was looking forward to the investigation.  Whilst setting up earlier I had noticed the Ghost Pro was doing a lot of random flashing so decided not to use any electronic equipment.  We started with the pendulums & rods, and all had some movement.  One person didn’t and seeing his frustration, I asked him to control my pendulum, so whilst I was holding it he would ask in his head for spirit to move the pendulum in a particular way, and each time my pendulum moved to his request.  This surprised him.  We were asking the spirit questions, and we were receiving the same information: male, British, died here in his 50’s, possibly 8 or 10 spirits with us.  Ted (curator) was feeling his pendulum being pulled from his fingers.  He felt he had the female spirit of Dorothy with him, but she wouldn’t come closer because the Jailor was present.  One guest, whilst holding the rods, asked for them to rotate continuous, and was surprised when they both did it instantly.  We tried the writing planchette but no movement.  We tried the glass, but only little movement.  We then tried table tipping, and the table lifted up slowly one side, but just stayed there until it fell over.  We tried again and it did the same.  Tash (guest) had started feeling pins & needles in her hand, and when she started feeling stabbing pains, looked down to see her hand had swollen a lot.  The pain then started moving up her arm.  We moved the guests around the table, but Tash’s hand remained swollen and painful.  However, Ted was now in the corner where Tash had been, and he was being pulled backwards off the table, until he was in the corner.  Ted decided he should step outside, and with only a little more movement on the table, we tried the writing planchette again, but without the paper and pen.  The planchette started moving around the table slowly, then the planchette started lifting up and down on one corner.  Then it moved to the edge of the table and started moving around the table edge.

Group A – Started with the rods & pendulums, most receiving movement, and we had between 20 – 25 spirits with us!  Adam (guest) whatever he tried would get no movement.  This seemed to be a pattern all night, as if he was being protected.  We started with some table tipping, and had some movement.  We tried glass work which worked better.  Adam, Ryan & Ted were feeling very cold on the backs of their lower legs. We also heard a noise from outside, the same time as Olly (guest) saw a shadow come into the room.  The spirit on the glass was female, aged 33, passed in the 1450’s, and was just passing through.  However she also said she was connected to Adam, and was protecting him.  Adam then asked some personal questions and was very surprised by the answers ie. asking spirit to draw with the glass the dates he was born, house number, and other significant information.
We had now started with the free session and guests went off to do their own investigation with equipment.  I returned to the Women’s Tower, and my last group were back there talking to the same spirit using the glass.  We did switch to the writing planchette and surprisingly we received a lot of drawings, including initials R G for the spirit, go, no, yes, and then Adams name and a heart.
We then went to the basement of the Castle, which had been used as a mortuary, and tried some table tipping.  With only 15 minutes left we asked spirit to step forward quickly, to which he did.  However with table lifting one way for yes, and opposite for no, it seemed spirit did not want Adam on the table.  With just Ryan and friend, the table started lifting and spinning to everyone’s amazement.

A great end to the night – looking forward to next time !

Landguard Fort – 4th October 2014 (Kym)

Landguard Fort ghost hunt 4th October 2014
Felixstowe, Suffolk

Area: Guard House with adjoining cell to rear
Equipment: Writing Planchette, KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group B – I had been looking forward to coming back to Landguard Fort since our last visit in April. One of my favourite places and I started by showing the guests how to use the rods and pendulums.  Once everyone had established their yes & no’s, we asked spirit who they were.  We had a male soldier, British and over 50.  We asked spirit to point the rods to where he was standing, and three of the four rods all pointed in the same direction.  We did use the Ghost Pro too which was answering questions.  We then moved to the cell and tried the writing planchette, but no movement, however some of us were swaying whilst kneeling on the floor and leaning on the table.  We did hear noises and footsteps near us, and were feeling cold breezes.  With just 10 minutes left we moved to the shower area and spent a little time in there.

Group C – With my next group we started with the rods & pendulums and had a lot of movement.  Most guests had a male spirit, but one person had a female.  The male was again a British Soldier, and had died here in battle.  One guest’s pendulum was rotating continuously in very large circles, and would change direction when asked.  We asked spirit to do this to the rods, and all started rotating, slowly, but kept going all the way round.  Again we asked spirit to point the rods to where he was standing, and they pointed to the same place as previous group.  We moved to the cell but had no movement on the writing planchette, so we took the Ouija table to the bathroom.  Although the glass didn’t move, the table was gently rocking whilst everyone’s fingers were on the glass.  Some guests were being swayed too.  With 10 minutes left we all moved to another room and whilst doing so two guests saw a shadow of someone move across opposite.  They both went to check but no-one there.  We did all go into another room for just a short while, but with no movement on the Ouija stopped for break.

Group A – With the last controlled session we started with the rods & pendulums, and had lots of movement.  We then tried the writing planchette in the cell, and almost immediately it started moving.  We asked spirit to give their initials, and although not too clear we think it was either an S or P for their first name, and a Z for their second.  Then we asked spirit to copy the shape a guest had a drawn on paper (she was not on the planchette and didn’t show anyone).  A triangle was drawn by the planchette, a star was what we had asked for – quite close.  We asked spirit to copy again, this time a Z, but the planchette drew a circle with a square around it.  One guest who had a digital recorder hanging around his neck felt it being pulled.  We then spent the last few minutes back in the main room quietly, asking spirit to affect us, make a noise, etc.  One guest felt he was pushed a couple of times.
In the free session I joined a group of guests in the map room on the ouija table, although there was only small movements with the glass, we were hearing and feeling lots of thuds underneath the table.  Gill (guest) was also feeling taps on her back.  We then did try some table tipping, and got lots of rocking followed by the table tipping up and spinning around.

Theatre Royal – 6th September 2014 – Paranormal Investigator Kym

Theatre Royal ghost hunt 6th September 2014
Margate, Kent

Area: Third floor of auditorium
Equipment: Writing Planchette, Ouija Table, Ghost Pro, KII, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums

Group B – Kerry joined me for this session and she started with some guests on the Ouija table.  The first spirit that came through was a guests dad – and confirmed this by spelling his name – SID, but received no more.  Then the spirit of a girl came through but although receiving movement, no more information.  Meanwhile I was with guests on the writing planchette but as we were receiving no movement, we switched to using the pendulums.  The guests were very surprised by what they had.  After establishing their yes & no’s they moved around the area, especially in the back row, they were also sensing spirit around them, and some were touched and heard noises next to them.

Group C – Three guests started with the writing planchette and had movement immediately – lots of figures of 8 were drawn.  We tried showing spirit shapes/numbers under the table with our hands asking spirit to copy – the number 3 was copied very accurately when asked.  The movement of the planchette was very rapid, and deliberate, surprising the guests, especially when they took it turns to remove their fingers and it would still move with one or two.   Whilst I was kneeling next to the table I heard and felt a footstep behind me, the guest to my left heard it too, and we both looked around together thinking someone was there, but no-one.  We also heard taps on the sheet of paper that was leaning on the seat next to the guests, when asking for spirit to repeat it, the taps came again twice more.  Meanwhile on the Ouija table 5 guests were receiving a lot of movement, they had a male spirit called Taz who was an actor.  Lots of random letters, however did have the same swear word twice.  Wanting to know where the spirit was standing, the glass moved to Louise (guest).  Half joking Louise said are you sitting on my knee – the glass moved to yes.  We asked if the spirit could bounce up & down so she could feel him, and the rail she was sitting on started vibrating/moving.  Also established Louise reminded the spirit of his mum, and said they knew each other in a past life.  We did have a short time using the pendulums and again guests were extremely surprised by the movement they received.

Group D – Kerry joined me again, and they received movement almost immediately on the Ouija table.  They had a spirit of a boy age 10 – possibly Edward – he drew lots of shapes with the glass, and seemed to be drawn to Kat (guest).  As we were not receiving any movement on the writing planchette Kat suggested coming over, asking the boy to come and draw pictures.  I moved to the Ouija table to make room and the planchette started moving.  The boy was then able to draw the same shapes on the piece of paper.  Then another shape was drawn and we tried really hard to encourage the boy to draw the same shape with the glass, but only a little movement.

Group A – With my last group they knew what they were doing so was able to start with myself observing.  On the Ouija table 4 guests had a male age 64 from 1827, and was here to protect Tina (guest) who had a bad spirit next to her.  On the writing planchette they had the bad spirit talking to them.  He had murdered his wife because he loved John.  He went to prison and died there.  Both groups continued to communicate with spirit until the controlled sessions finished, then they all went off to explore with/without team.

It is fantastic to investigate a Theatre – and can’t to return!

Fort Borstal 30th August 2014 – Paranormal Investigator Kym

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 30th August 2014
Rochester, Kent

Area: The Cartridge Stores
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Ouija

Group A  – Tonight I was lucky enough to be in a new area, and with my first group we started with using the pendulums.  Everyone started receiving movement, and once they had established their yes/no answers we asked the spirits questions.  Various spirits joined us, male & female, old and young, we had 9 spirits with us in total.
We then tried using the Ouija table and after a short while the glass started moving.  However after about 20 minutes of random words coming through, it seemed the spirits were staying with us briefly, then changing over.  We did notice the table creaking a lot from the frame underneath throughout.

Group B – With my second group again we started with the pendulums, and guests were able to ask the spirits questions about who they were.  We had similar responses to the first group.  We did then try the Ouija table, but only received one slight movement when just two people touching.  Again the table was creaking underneath.  We did then spend sometime on the Gun Emplacement area above, and some guests kept seeing a white shadow.  When we returned downstairs to return equipment to our room, two guests heard an unusual noise, growl/stomach noise.
Free Session – I joined most of the guests back in the cartridge stores as they had been trying to get some glass movement.  Again we had some slight movement, but as the table kept creaking underneath, we tried some table tipping.  However the table only lifted up once.
Interesting area, and one I look forward to returning again.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt – 31-5-2014 (Kym)

Thursday, June 26th, 2014

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 31st May 2014
Colchester, Essex

Area: Rooms 9 & 10
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Glass Work, Sprit Box & Ovilus III

Group C – I started by showing the guests how to use the rods & pendulums – which to their surprise they started moving.  One guest in particular was amazed by the way his pendulum was moving.  He asked spirit to show him the movement for yes & no, and was able to identify it was a male spirit.  Others were getting movement too.  By asking spirit if they wanted to do some glasswork with us, the pendulums/rods were showing a yes.  Everyone all put their fingers on the glass and it started moving immediately.  With encouragement from guests the glass started moving stronger.  The spirit did not want to answer questions so instead just seemed to play with us.  The guests took it in turns to ask in their head (inc 2 guests not on the glass) for spirit to do something with the glass ie. draw a shape/letter/number, or move the glass to a particular place on the table.  Each time to everyone’s amazement the glass moved exactly how they asked.  They also took it in turns to remove their fingers off the glass until just one left, and the glass would still move.  They then placed their fingers on the glass nail side down – and it was still moving!  Twisting too at request.  I did want to find out which spirit was with us, and spirit confirmed it was Alice, and the other two spirits in the room were the Judge and his son, the son had accidently died in the hotel.  I also wanted the guests to stand in the small corridor joining rooms 9 & 10, with both the doors closed.  All hearing footsteps in room 9 and when checking no-one there.  Also two guests noticed whilst standing there, after their eyes adjusted and could see a little, it suddenly went very dark.  We did turn on the spirit box and “yes” was heard twice in response to a question.  Some guests were sensing where spirit were, and when taking photos of that area would capture light anomalies.

Group A – Again we started with the rods & pendulums, and many had movement.  We then tried some glasswork, and the glass started moving immediately.  Sprit confirmed again it was Alice, one of three spirits with us.  The glass was moving randomly across the table, again drawing shapes or letters that the guests were thinking.  The glass continued to move with fingers touching nail side down, and also with just one person left touching.  Then one guest with just her finger left on the glass felt her finger being moved on top of the glass.  We all watched in surprise as this happened.  Guests spent time in the corridor, hearing noises in room 9, and two guests whilst laying on the bed in room 9 heard a loud bang in that room.  Kerry (team) joined one guest in the corridor and they experienced various touches on their knee, wrist and face, with the last touch happening to both of them in the same place.

Group B – With the last group before the free sessions, again I started by showing the guests how to use the rods & pendulums.  They had some movement.  We then tried glasswork, and the glass was moving very differently – slow and unsure.  The spirit confirmed it was a boy.  With a lot of encouragement the glass moved to all four corners of the table as asked.  And then drew circles as requested.  Everyone did spend some time in the corridor and again footsteps and noises were heard in room 9, and when checking no-one was there.

During the free session I joined the last remaining guests and team in the cellar for a ‘human pendulum’.  Julie (guest) was a willing volunteer in the centre of the circle with Sue (team) directing.  This was amazing to see, spirit moving Julie forward for ‘yes’ and to her left for a ‘no’.  We established the spirit was a chef called Jacob who had died in a fire, which was started deliberately.  Some team & guests had experienced this spirit earlier in the night.  We all took it in turns to ask spirit questions.

A great end to a truly memorable night – looking forward to the next one at The Red Lion!

Charlton House ghost hunt – 3-5-2014 (Kym)

Saturday, June 7th, 2014

Charlton House ghost hunt 3rd May 2014
Greenwich, London

Area: Cellar
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Glass Work

All the team were looking forward to this venue – we get just a bit excited at a new place.  I was in the cellar for the night, so went down on my own to get a feel for that area.  Standing in the dark with ghost pro, I had a spirit standing behind me – I asked if he could touch me, and felt a prod on my lower back.  When I mentioned this to another team member she had read about an older male spirit pinching female’s bums here – well that was a first!

Group C – Kerry (team) joined me on this session with Jason filming.  Kerry & I started with the eight guests showing them how to use the rods & pendulums to communicate with spirit.  We had male & female spirits with us, a total of seven confirmed.  Four guests with Kerry started some glass work, whilst I showed the remaining guests the other areas in the cellar, which they explored with kit.  Kerry & guests had a female spirit with them, who had been a patient here in the 1920’s.  We asked her to use the glass to draw her age when she passed – 27.  We asked her to draw the first letter of the illness she died from – L – we asked leukaemia – no – we asked lymphoma – yes.  We asked her to draw the first initial of her name – M – then second intial – A – asked if her name was Margaret – yes.  She also confirmed she was not married, but had a daughter – called Bobby – who was with her in spirit.  Noises were heard when everyone was in the same area – a thump down the corridor twice, and two taps on the floor in front of Jason whilst filming.  The latter happened after we had asked spirit to make a noise.  Cold touches to our hands – on and off the glass – were felt.  Kerry had also felt a touch on her left shoulder.

Group A – I started again with showing guests how to use the rods & pendulums.  We then moved to some glasswork.  Five guests did this whilst the three guys went to expore wth kit.  They had been in a room asking for spirit to make a noise, and myself with guests had asked spirit to go and make a noise near them.  As they left that room a large bang was heard.  They came to check it wasn’t us, and I encouraged them to show me what had happened.  There was a large metal door lying flat on a bench, and when we banged it that was the sound.  They then stayed near there again whilst I returned to the other guests, and again the three guys came running back to us very quickly – they had heard and felt a loud breath next to them.  I swapped the guys with the other guests to try some glass work.  The glass started moving and I asked James (guest) to think of a shape and ask spirit to draw with the glass – the shape drawn was a triangle which was what James had been thinking.  Spirit then started drawing circles with the glass, and when James & Joe asked spirit to stop and change direction in their head – to their surprise the glass did exactly that!

Group B – with the third group these guests (two groups of four) had been on many ghost hunts with us before, and initially half went to explore whilst the rest wanted to try glass work.  The glass did move a little, but not much so they tried some rods & pendulums.  The other group were having a lot of KII activity.  After 30 mins guests swapped, and the group on the lone vigil didn’t stay in the cellar long – one guest was feeling unwell and had a headache.  Us that remained kept hearing footsteps running above us – I went to check twice and each time no-one had been walking around upstairs, and when returning to cellar, Carl (filming) could not hear me upstairs at all.  We stayed down a little while longer – and both KII’s on the table were lighting up to red continuously. We were trying the rods & pendulums too which were moving a lot.  Carl also heard a noise behind him – sounded like a metal grid moving.

Charlton House was a very exciting new venue – one we all can’t wait to return to.
