Bicknor Woods 18th January 2013

This was quite interesting just getting into the woods, since the first snow of the year had fallen the night before and had now turned to ice, so instead of walking, we slid down the hill onto the footpath.
Once in the woods there was a strange quietness, just the sound of a few birds taking flight that we disturbed whilst walking on the path. There was also some light snowfall, but nothing that would hinder or stop the ghost hunt.
Our first location I gave the majority of the guests some KII meters and a ghost communicator, the levels of KII were extremely high although this came in waves. Electronic communication was also high as a young male energy joined us, although he would not tell us his age, although to me he seemed to be in his late teens.
Various strange noises we heard in the woods, especially the sound of someone approaching as we could hear snapping twigs, as if someone was walking towards us, but considering our eyes had adjusted to the dark we could see if anyone was approaching.
Some guests took photos and one photo that should have been of a tree and a fence post had another vertical line in the photo which looked like another tree, however the object didn’t go all the way to the ground, whether this was snow is uncertain as a flash from a camera fires at 1/60th of a second, which would have meant that the object was travelling in excess of 12 feet per second!
At the second location a little further along the path another male energy made himself know to me. He was called Chris and was approximately 20 years old. Once again there were lots of high KII spike and some communication via the equipment.
The third location I started to use my Sprit Box (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies at 100ms in reverse). After asking that the spirit say one of our names or tell us the day of the week we heard “back” and “have it” but no names, unfortunately there was a lot of interference which I can only assume was related to the atmospheric low pressure. However many people reported seeing various shadows and we all heard quite a lot of strange noises, some sounded like something heavy being dropped. Also some strange mists were seen and photographed.
At the fourth location which was back on the main path, we diverted to look at a tree that could have been easily used to hang people, as it had a branch at just about the right height. During the séance we were joined by Chris (the spirit from earlier) and an older gentleman in his 50s. Both these spirits were able to move the guests arms and push and pull some of the guests. Some people felt a swaying sensation (which is common for these woods) and a twisting sensation. Also during the séance we heard a lot of heavy sounds, similar to branches falling to the ground, but given there was no wind I cannot see any reason for branches to suddenly drop off the trees all around us.
At the end of the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. There were several clear responses, which can be heard at:-

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 11th January 2013
Pluckley, Kent
This was the first visit of 2013 to the woods and it was a very calm evening with no wind and to me it really wasn’t that cold either. The level of mud on the other hand hadn’t decreased since our last visit in December, but the level of spiritual activity was just as high.
The first session we encountered lots of KII (EMF) activity as well as lots of communication from our electronic equipment. We were joined by a male spirit energy, approximately 23 years old. He looked rather rough, with an unshaven face and he didn’t want to talk to me. He did however give some of the guests the sensation of being pushed.
Also present was Philip, a spirit energy who I have often encountered in these woods, as he had a motorcycle accident no too far from this location. There was also a female spirit energy present, but she seemed very shy and did not want to approach us.
During the resulting séance the spirit energies joined together to move the arms of some of the guests and to push and sway them.
The second location I shone the laser grid further along the pathway, as this has proved to be very successful on past visits, however this time nothing notable was seen in the grid even though the spirit energies present were communicating with us via our electronic equipment and saying that they were walking into the laser lights, but we didn’t see anything. Also in this area there were very high levels of EMF shown on our KII meters.
When I turned on my Spirit Box (a device that scans the FM radio channels at 100ms in reverse) we heard “Hi” and “Hello” almost immediately followed by various names, I had asked for the spirit to say one of our names, but these name were not the same as the people present. Then after a gap of about 5 minutes we heard “Steve & Stephen” followed by “Alfred, Robert, Bob”. When asking for the spirit to say the number of people we all clearly heard “9” but there were 11 of us. However one thing that we don’t know is whether the spirit that was using this device to talk to us could count.
During this time many guests heard strange noises in the woods and since we had not heard any animal noises all evening, I question what had made these strange noises, as it didn’t sound like an animal, more an impact sound.
Since many people were feeling cold we started to walk out of the woods, but stopped on a crossroad since the guests who were holding the electronic equipment started to see high spikes of EMF on the KII meters and communication resumed via the other equipment.
We then entered a small piece of woodland to try to hear if spirit would repeat a whistle, but nothing was heard apart from lots of dog barking.
This was a good ghost hunt with some “normal” activity felt by the guests, but many guests could not stand the coldness of the woods and the ghost hunt finished early.

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 21st December 2012

We were a little worried that holding an event so late in December would be too cold for us and our guests to enjoy the ghost hunt. However the weather and temperature was actually quite pleasant considering the time of year, albeit rather wet and very muddy on the pathways.
After making our way to my usual spot, which took longer than normal due to the vast amount of mud on the main pathway we gave every guest a piece of electronic equipment.
Within a matter of minutes our KII meters (EMF meters) started to light up with detected spirit energies passing us and since every guest had either a communication device or a KII we could actually see the motion of the spirit energies as they walked past us.
A male energy stopped and actually stuck around to talk to people and using the communication devices guests were able to ask him questions and get sensible responses. The male spirit energy however didn’t want to reveal his name to me, but he was approximately 45 years old and of a strong build. He also responded to questions but didn’t like us. He told us (via the communication devices) on more than one occasion to leave.
During this period many guests heard some strange noises and saw odd lights, these were not noises that could be related to the woods as they didn’t sound like any animal I have heard before. The lights too were not in the sky, but much closer to the ground although they didn’t look like animal eyes as they were the wrong colour (white and blue lights).
Many guests took photographs whilst we were using the electronic equipment and several guests photographed some strange mists and other anomalies on the pathway.
From this point we moved further along the path and through yet more mud until we came to a crossroads. This crossroad in past investigations has been the spot of some excellent paranormal activity witnessed by the guests.
Here we held a séance and a spirit energy called Jeffery joined us, he came from the direction that we had just walked. He was aged in his late 40s and from 1950s era and was a happy fellow who was able to move the arms of the guests and some guests were also treated to him pushing and pulling them backwards, nothing violent, but enough so that the guests knew that they were not responsible for losing their balance as it was controlled and on command. Some guests were also swayed from left to right as he passed them.
After the séance we set up our laser grid and some guests saw shadows within the grid and further along the path, this is something which happens a lot on this particular stretch of path. The shadows look human shape, although they are never totally clear.
We then turned on our SB7’s (Spirit boxes, which scan the FM radio stations at 100ms in reverse) and asked the spirit energies to say the name of a guest, or their own name. We repeatedly heard “Tom”, “Catherine” and “Tim” and considering we were using two boxes the names were not repeated at the same time but over the course of several sweeps alternatively. We also heard the name of some of the guests “Emma”, “Derek” and “Sharon”.
It was however noticeable odd that the high KII activity that we had at the first location had not repeated itself at this location apart from some brief moments when those who were holding the KII meters walked away from the group. When they were 6’ or more away from the group the KII meters lit up much like the activity that we had at the first location. Whereas the communication devices didn’t make any difference as we had good communication throughout the whole ghost hunt.
Once again a very enjoyable ghost hunt with varied and interesting paranormal activity witnessed by the guests.

Bicknor Woods ghost hunt 2nd December 2012

Bicknor Woods is one of those locations that always gets the adrenaline going, it is a strange woods, it is also the only woods where I would not venture on my own after dark.
Our first session we were joined by a male spirit energy by the name of Timothy who was in his 60s and a female energy who was 33 years old and from the early 1800s.
Both energies were able to communicate via our electronic equipment and their respective energies also showed up on our KII meters.
Whilst we were asking questions and getting responses several guests and I heard footfalls near to us, some admittedly sounded like small animals, but some sounded a lot heavier and more like the sound a person would make.
After a while I decided that the best way for the guests to really sense the spirit energies was to hold a séance and Timothy was happy to oblige. He started to move the hands of the majority of the guests and just as the guests got used to this strange sensation, Timothy then changed tactics and started to push people forwards and backwards. Many of the guests found this slightly odd at first and then really amazing as they were trying (unsuccessfully) to fight this and no matter what any guest did to stop themselves moving, Timothy just pushed them harder.
After just about everyone had been moved Timothy’s energy seemed to dissipate very quickly and therefore we stopped the séance. However as I was talking to some guests who had really enjoyed the pushing and pulling and were trying to explain how they were trying to resist we heard more footfalls behind us, which was exactly the direction that we were about to walk.
In another part of the woods whilst using the laser grid as I could sense the spirit energies and was hoping that they would interfere with the grid so that the guests could see them.
Whilst we were standing and looking there were many unexplainable noises, many of which sounded like people approaching, although we saw no torches. Several guests also commented that they could sense spirit energies sitting around the trees.
At the same time as watching in the grid I also turned on the Spirit Box (This is a device that scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms) in the hope that if we heard anything then we can be sure that no radio station broadcasts in this way. Although we heard several strange noises on the Spirit box, some could have been words, albeit very quiet nothing notable was heard, although a couple of guests had been touched and their jackets pulled whilst we were listening and watching.
Unfortunately nothing really happened at this location, but since all the guests were now feeling the cold we started to walk back.
Also due to the coldness no EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments were undertaken because the cold had drained the batteries on my recorder. Which was a shame because in these woods we usually get some great EVPs.
Once again an enjoyable ghost hunt which gave the majority of the guests some physical spiritual movement which they enjoyed.

Pluckley Woods ghost hunt 23rd November 2012

This particular evening was a crisp 2 degrees Celsius with a clear sky and some moonlight, which although looked atmospheric made the woods a lot lighter than when there is no moon, as the moonlight makes it seem much more open than it is. However with the moon, there wasn’t any need for a torch as the pathways could easily be seen.
I started in my usual spot and after a short while a male spirit energy approached us, he was 33 years old and from the 1890s and gave me the impression that he was a farmer as he wore green coloured trousers and a check shirt but I found it odd that he wasn’t wearing a hat, as in that period farmers would have worn hats.
After some brief KII activity and communication via our electronic equipment I started a séance to give the guests some physical evidence of the spirit energy present. Whilst the farmer spirit energy was present, another male energy came forward to touch and move the guests as part of the séance. His name was Michael and he had dark and hair and a stocky build.
Michael was able to gently move some of the guests arms and push one or two of the guests as well as using our hands to stroke the faces and hair of some of the guests, which was a strange sensation for all those concerned.
A female spirit energy was also present, although she took a while to approach us and as I was telling the guests that she was approaching, one of the guests commented that they thought that they could see a shadow on the path of a person approaching us.
During the séance many guests commented that they could see lights behind me, one guest described the lights as being similar to shooting stars but much smaller and nearer to the ground.
At the end of the séance I did an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment.
There were several responses to the question asked but even under extensive analysis the recordings could not be enhanced that much and it took a lot longer to figure out the words being spoken by the spirit. The best can be heard at:-

We would recommend listening to these several times to actually hear the words spoken.
The second location I set up the laser grid and pointed it along the path, some guests commented that they could see shadows within this grid, although I couldn’t because I was seeing the spirit energies.
Various spirit energies came and went, which the guests were able to detect on our KII meters and there was some communication via the gadgets.
There were also some strange noises heard further along the path and behind us, many of which sounded like footfalls of people.
Some guests ventured further along the path to investigate a light that they could see and the shadows in the grid.
At this point I started using our Spirit Box (a device that scans the FM radio waves in reverse at 100ms). First several names were heard, none of them belonging to anyone present, then we all heard “Hi” and “Hello”.
I asked how many guests were present and we all heard a very clear “5” then one of the guests who were investigating further along the pathway returned. I then asked the same question and we all heard a very clear “6” I also asked how many were further along the path and once again we all heard a very clear “3”. All of these answers were correct as there were 9 of us in total.
Once again a very successful ghost hunt with some good evidence, both physical and audible experienced by the guests.

Pluckley Woods private ghost hunt 9th November 2012

For a change Pluckley village was a nice quiet place, the woods even quieter, with no wind to speak of and no obvious animal noises.
We headed for what I call my usual area, as this has been the scene of so much activity every time I have done a ghost hunt here.
After an initial spike of EMF activity seen on our KII meters and some brief but informative communication via other electronic equipment I decided that it was time to hold a séance as this is the best way for the guests to experience paranormal activity.
We were joined by a male energy called Philip who was 22 years old and from the 1970s as he was wearing flared jeans and a shirt with big collars, he was also an RTA (Road Traffic Accident) victim. Philip was able to push some of the guests forwards and pull them back, some were swayed. Philip was also able to lift some of the guests arms. Many of the guests reported tingling and pins & needle sensations in their hands. Some guests also saw shadows further along the path. We were also joined by an older male energy (who did not give me his name) but this gentleman looked like a farmer, short and stocky build who had big hands.
At the end of the séance I held an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) experiment to try to record some ghost voices. There were several, although the two clearest can be heard at:-

From here we moved further into the woods to another familiar spot to me and one which has also proved to be a good spot, but for a different reason, namely Spirit Box activity. Our Spirit Boxes scan the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms, so if we hear anything going forward we can be sure that no radio station broadcast it, as no radio station broadcasts in reverse.
I also set up the laser grid at this point and many guests reported seeing shadows moving within this grid. There was also high levels of EMF energy (as seen on the KII meters) and a high level of communication via the other gadgets.
There was a female spirit energy around us called Elizabeth and she appeared to be quite strict, aged in her mid to late 40s and looked like a farmers wife.
On the Spirit box we heard “Hello”, “hi” and then I asked for the spirit to say the names of the people present. We heard very clearly “Steve”, “Jed”, “Tasha”, “Simon” and “Keith” with some names being repeated several times.
Also at the same time when guests were asking questions hopeful that they would be answered either on the Spirit Box or the communication equipment, we heard “Yes”, “No”, “Maybe” and “Shhhh”
After this very eventful session we moved deep into the woods with the idea that I would hold another séance. Before we arrived at an area where I thought this would be a good spot, I noticed that a male spirit energy was following us. He identified himself as Mark and looked to be in his early 20s and he seemed to be dressed in horse riding attire and carried a whip or crop. Once again I held a séance circle and Mark had no problem to manipulate the guests, with lots of people being pushed and swayed and pushed into each other, Tasha & Sara were even twisted to face different directions, Grace was also pulled downwards by her and Sara’s hands. There was also a lot of arm movement experienced by the guests.
At the end of the séance, guests were taking photographs and although nothing was seen at the time, one photo seems to have a “horse shaped” mist, see below.

Once again a thoroughly enjoyable ghost hunt which all the guests enjoyed, especially as it was their first proper ghost hunt. The Spirit box activity was probably the best and clearest that I have heard outdoors for a long time.

Toys Hill and Weardale Manor ghost hunt 3rd November 2012

We often find that this time of year is a better outdoor ghost hunt as there isn’t much noise outside, obviously being the weekend before Guy Fawkes we were treated to some interesting firework displays!
Our first session was under the trees where the manor house would have stood, this in the past has been the scene of quite a lot of activity and as usual there were high levels of EMF energy shown on our KII meters as well as some good communication via our other electronic equipment.
Some of the guests saw lights in the trees as well as shadows, these were not fireworks or car lights as they were too low to the ground. The shadows were unexplained although I have seen similar when holding previous ghost hunts at this location.
A couple of guests who had stayed with me under the trees (the rest had wandered off) felt a brush on their legs, they said that it had felt like a dog had brushed past them. This has also been reported here and one previous ghost hunt, we all heard the sound of a dog approaching.
After wandering deeper into the woods I stopped at a familiar area, as this has been the scene of so much activity on previous ghost hunts and held a séance here.
A male spirit energy called Daniel joined us, he gave his age as early 20s and the year as 1911. Daniel was easily able to move many of the guests arms, push them and generally sway them on the spot. Several guests also reported the feeling of people pulled downwards, and some were physically pulled downwards by their arms.
Dave (guest) was firstly pushed backwards, although I had noticed that he stood in front of a tree when we started and I am fairly sure he thought the same tree was behind him, but due to all the movement felt by the other guests, the tree was no longer directly behind Dave. So when he was pushed backwards he didn’t resist as he thought the tree would stop him from falling over, but he just missed the tree and fell over!
When Dave finally stood back up Daniel continued to push Dave until he fell face first into the mud which gave us all a good laugh! Whilst all this was going on some of the guests on the other side of the séance circle could hear footfalls and shadows behind them and asked that Carl (GHE Team member) go to investigate. As Carl was now opposite me and I could clearly see him, on my side of the circle we too heard the sound of footfalls behind us and the sound of twigs snapping, like someone had walked over the sticks. We also heard some heavy sounds, like something dropping from the trees or something heavy being dropped, but considering it wasn’t windy the source of this noise remains a mystery.
After we finished the Séance I turned on my Spirit Box (a device that scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms) and then asking for spirit to say our names. Several times we heard the name “Carl” and “Tom” (Tom was one of the guests) and “Hartnoll” (Tom’s surname) plus “Tommy” and “Donna” (another guest). During this time there was high levels of EMF energy which could be seen by the guests on our KII meters.
After leaving this area of the woods and heading back to the site of the old Manor I held an EVP (Electronic voice phenomena) experiment to record ghost voices. Once again a very good ghost hunt and one in which many of the guests felt spirit energy in the form of a physical sensation, plus the added bonus of hearing their names called out on the Spirit Box.

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 26th October 2012

This is what I would call the first winter ghost hunt, cold and rather muddy, however this did not detract from the level of paranormal activity experienced by the guests.
The first location we had some good but brief moments of KII activity and some communication via our electronic equipment, but the majority of the time we were hearing footfalls and other strange noises from within the woods. Given the nature of these woods it could not have been a person as they would have needed a torch to navigate, which we didn’t see.
A female energy was present, although she did not tell me her name as she felt quite shy, however she was wearing a flowery dress and looked to be in her 30s.
Also present was a male spirit called Timothy and during the resulting séance, some arm movement was felt by the guests.
The second location, once again strange noises and footfalls were heard but still no obvious answer to the noise. I set up the laser grid but nothing was seen in this grid. Whilst we were looking into the grid I turned on my SB7 (Spirit Box) which scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms intervals. As it is scanning in reverse we can be fairly sure any voices heard in normal time are from spirit because no radio station broadcasts in reverse.
On the SB7 we heard “Hello” and the names of some of the guests “Laura” “Lisa” and my name “Steve” and strangely when asking questions out loud the spirit responsible didn’t just say yes, they said “I understand” or “Correct” which is rather odd. There were lots of word spoken although not all could be understood.
Once again a very enjoyable ghost hunt and one in which the guests had a number of paranormal occurrences or experiences that they could not explain, not to mention the very good session with the Spirit Box.

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt, 6th October 2012

This event was organised with military precision, simply because it was in aid of The Children’s Trust charity and we had the same amount of guests that we would normally have for an indoor event, so the car parking was one such issue. We also had certain members of the team in fixed areas, normally our ghost hunts follow a set path, whereas this event we had a central meet point and all teams went off from this point.
That said the event ran without and problems and there were other people wandering the woods, but we didn’t see them all night.
My area was not only the furthest from our start point but also the most active with numerous paranormal occurrences that have happened here from various public and private events.
The first group here had very high levels of KII activity and some communication via our electronic equipment, but since time was an issue with this event, I held a séance quite quickly so that the guests could experience some physical spiritual activity.
We were joined by a female energy called Grace, she was about 26 years old and gave me the year as 1870. She looked like a typical farm girl wearing a blue dress which was well worn and she had long brunette coloured hair.
Grace treated the guests to some gentle but purposeful arm movement.
At the end of the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment, although at the time when the recording was played back we all heard some possible ghost voices, on inspection and clarification on a computer there were no understandable voices audible.
The Second group once again experienced high levels of KII activity as well as some brief communication via our electronic gadgets, however upon commencement of the séance a male spirit energy by the name of Tommy came forward. He was a strict and sensible spirit energy, aged in his late 60s and about 5’7” in height. Tommy gave me the impression that he was a local farm trader, as he seemed to be carrying a crate of fruit.
During the séance Tommy was able to move the guests arms as well as push and pull them. Some guests felt a series of cold spots behind them, which seem to come and go as well as seeing shadows and light formations within the woods. Footfalls were also heard approaching us, but no-one arrived.

The Third group we more or less went straight into a séance as Tommy was still about and he was able to give the guests some more arm movement and push them gently. However the atmosphere changed quite quickly as another male energy came forward, however I couldn’t see him clearly, he was however about 6’ tall and of a broad build. He took an instant dislike to one of the guests and started to affect her. The guest felt extremely hot and had to be removed from the séance circle. However as soon as she returned the same energy did exactly the same thing to the guest. I decided that it was probably best not to continue the séance circle. On speaking to the guest afterwards she said that although she could hear me, it sounded like she was underwater as everything seemed to be muffled and distorted. She felt very hot throughout the séance and thought she was going to faint on more than one occasion. However after we had finished the séance circle the guest said that she felt normal again, albeit a little drained from the experience.
Once again a very good ghost hunt with some excellent paranormal activity encountered by the guests.

Pluckley Screaming Woods – 6th October 2012

Group C
Sean (team) and I took the first group to an area that is very active and immediately we had activity on the KII and Ghost Pro’s. I had the name Emily in my head, so asked if the spirit present was Emily, the ghost pro answered yes. We established Emily comes here to play and that she was less than 10 years old. She could see that it was dark, and prefers it in the daylight. We used the PSB7 with various inaudible words coming through, however sean was wearing his ear amplifiers and heard my name clearly (Kym). We also heard whistles when calling out.
Group B
Whilst taking the second group to the same area, myself and a guest heard a groan to our left. Again we were having KII and Ghost Pro activity. Whilst using the PSB7 we heard the name Bill – when asking spirit if that was his name we got yes. Whilst standing quietly and listening, Sean was able to hear mens voices through his ear amplifiers, but there were no men in this group and all other groups were too far away to be heard.
Group C
Again we took the third group to the same area. We had KII and Ghost Pro activity, initially confirming Bill was with us again. We could also hear unexplained noises around, and felt we were being watched throughout the evening.
