Event Showcase: D Day Tunnels

https://www.ghosthuntevents.co.uk/d-day-tunnels.php
History of D Day Tunnels
The D Day Tunnels (Underground World War Two Command Centre) in Portsmouth, Hampshire are directly beneath Fort Southwick and they were excavated by the Royal Engineers in 1942.
700 staff worked here during the D-Day Normandy Landings by Allied troops during the Second World War.
After the war the tunnels ceased operations in 1949 then reopened during the 1956 Suez Crisis & during the Cold War. The Command Centre remained in use until 1974.
The existence of the D Day Tunnels was a closely guarded secret. The entrance to these tunnels are very uninteresting and unimposing.
Ghost Hunting
We have been investigating the #DDayTunnels since 2013 and have witnessed; strange whispering, voices, coughs, chills, talking, footsteps, doors closing and keys jangling not to mention pushing and shoving during our séances. The whole complex is eerie and it doesn’t matter what time of day or time of year you are in the tunnels it is always the same.
Just last year as we were waiting for the person to lock up, we were doing a final check to make sure we had all our equipment and two of us saw a person walking in the tunnels from a reasonable distance, we assumed it was the third member of our team although we wondered why he was walking in that direction but nevertheless we left the tunnels to wait outside and he was already outside and had been for 15 minutes! About 10 minutes after this the guy turned up to lock the venue, so it wasn’t him either!
Our favourite areas are; The large map room, the communication room and the old toilet area as well as the room halfway up the stairs (leading to the fort). Many of our guests have had some great personal experiences in the tunnels, but unfortunately for us we rarely have had cameras recording when the interesting stuff happens.

Explosion Museum ghost hunt 14th May 2016
Gosport, Hampshire

explosion-museum-1

As a team we love visiting this venue, because we have so much space and buildings for us and our guests to investigate, because we have not used all the buildings for all the activities that we undertake yet.

Being that the group was a small group (which is normal in the summer months) we didn’t split the group and instead each team member held their session with everyone present.

The first session was my séance session, which I chose to hold in a building that I have used before; C Mag, an old magazine room (for storing explosives).

A male spirit by the name of Roger joined us, he was aged in his late 30s or early 40s and an older gent aged in his late 50s who was a Navy Officer and in uniform.

Both these spirits were able to push people and manipulate us with a little force, one guest spent most of the session being pushed forwards or pulled backwards. At one point just about everyone had been pushed to the floor.

The second session was a joint table tilting and Ouija board session. Both activities took a while before anything useful was encountered and the table tilting eventually got going after a lot of encouragement. There is an excerpt of this at https://youtu.be/a5SoskKkpn0

On the Ouija board we eventually had some contact with a slave or a person who was forced to work and a young boy called Timothy who was 15 or 16 years old and also working at Priddy’s Hard. (now the site of the Explosion Museum)

The third session we let the guests loose with our gadgets in the old Admin building, this is a popular building for this activity as the building is big enough to allow the guests to roam from room to room and they may encounter different spirits in different parts of the building.

The fourth session was a Human Pendulum session in the Grand Magazine where guests were able to ask spirit questions and feel the spirit move them.

After this session all guests were able to explore the buildings and carry out their own ghost hunt. During this time guests could borrow our ghost hunting equipment.

This was another excellent ghost hunt with some good personal paranormal evidence encountered by the guests in various parts of the site using a whole manner of different activities. We look forward to our return in August.

Old Beneficiary School – 20th February 2016 – Steve

Old Beneficiary School ghost hunt 20th February 2016
Portsmouth, Hampshire

groundlings-theatre

This is an unusual building as we often have activity but not in relation to the building or its past use. This particular evening was no different. I was in the main theatre, the upstairs room for all my sessions.

The first group were joined by a Man who was reluctant to say anything, he wore a schoolboy type cap and was aged roughly in his early 30s. He seemed to be dressed in clothing associated with a summer party and he gave me the impression that he had something to do with importing fine spices into the country. There was also a woman called Grace who said that she washed the floors when this building was a school in 1890s. When we were near the back of the room there was a spirit here called Daniel who was a recent spirit, someone who had passed away recently, although he gave the year as 2006 and he took his own life in sad circumstances. He said he lived locally.

During the séance we experienced lots of movement, including arm movement, footfalls, noises and squeaks that could not be explained.

The second group once again experienced some movement in the séance, although not as much as the first group. Although we did experience some of the strange noises and footfalls like the first group.

The third group didn’t experience any movement at all, nor did we hear any odd noises.

We look forward to returning later in the year

Marwell Hall ghost hunt 24th October 2015
Winchester, Hampshire

marwell-hall-close

This was our fourth time at this venue and we were hoping that some of the previous paranormal occurrences would happen again to corroborate those occurrences. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as expected although we did have an excellent night.

My séance circles were held downstairs in one of the rear facing rooms and we were joined by a spirit called Richard, a First World War soldier who was wearing puttees, he was 56 years old.

A female spirit called Alice aged in her 40s and a Nanny aged in her 20s were also present. There were also a number of spirit children in the room. This is unusual as I normally do not pick up children due to my dislike of them.

The first group experienced lots of movement, pushing, twisting and unusually we all ended up facing outward, when we started all facing inward. We had no idea how this happened. Towards the end of the session we all heard a child’s trumpet sound.

The second group also experienced lots of movement, but not to the same extent, this time it was just people being pushed and pulled whilst standing.

The third group however experienced lots of movement with everyone being touched, pushed, pulled or swayed as well as being pulled down to the floor by their arms and hands.

This was an excellent ghost hunt with lots of paranormal activity experienced by all those present.

Explosion Museum ghost hunt 14th November 2015
Gosport, Hampshire

explosion-museum-1

Both groups during the séance sessions experienced movement, there was a mentally challenged spirit responsible for the movement, he did not give his name nor any information about his self.

The first group one of the female guests felt their leg being lifted whilst we were standing in the séance circle.

In the second group, we were all pushed or pulled to the floor by the spirit.

An enjoyable ghost hunt that we look forward to returning to in the New Year.

Explosion Museum – 6th February 2016 – Kym

Explosion Museum ghost hunt 6th February 2016
Gosport, Hampshire

explosion-museum-1

AREA: P-BUILDING
EQUIPMENT: OUIJA, TABLE TIPPING, WRITING PLANCHETTE, GLASSWORK

We started the evening by having a tour around the Explosion Museum with the VIP’s, being led into some interesting areas that are not seen by the general public.  I chose to work in a huge building that would have been used, and still was being used, for storage and boat building/renovation.  The weather was very wet and windy at the start of the evening, with the door being continuously blown open and closed, but the skies became clear and still later.

We started with half the group on the Ouija, and the remainder of the group on the table tipping, but with only slight movement on both all seven guests tried the table tipping together.  However, before this we were hearing whistles when asking out for them, and one guest felt his chair move whilst sitting in it.  The table started moving immediately, lifting up at the side, twisting and spinning randomly.  We were also experiencing a coldness moving around us, and some felt they were being touched.  We did hear what sounded like the glass being moved across the Ouija table, but on checking the glass had not moved, or if it had, it had been moved back.

With my second group we had a little movement on the Ouija, with the glass twisting, but no communication.  The group on the table had some slight movement, they tried the writing planchette, but the table tried moving again.  So I brought all the guests together and we all tried the table tipping.  We had some gentle rocking, and were hearing noises around us, a mumble or murmur in one area, one guest saw a shadow in a different area at the same time were heard a rustle/movement there too.  We all tried the Ouija, the glass moved to the numbers 4 and 5, was this his age?  The glass started moving to yes but then stopped.

With my last group we had a little movement on the Ouija but no communication.  We then all tried the table tipping and it did start rocking very gently.  I encouraged the guests to interact with the spirit, and the more they did this, the more the table moved.  We then tried the writing planchette, had no movement, but the table was moving again, so we switched back to that.  And again with the guests asking, especially Janet, the table moved and spun as they asked.

With the controlled sessions over, and an hour left of the night, I joined three guests, in the Admin Building.  We went to the shower/toilet area in the back left of the building and started with the Ouija board on the table we use for table tipping.  The planchette started moving immediately, and went to “Hello”.  We then asked for spirit to spell his first name and got “OFUK” – interesting!  The planchette went to “goodbye”, but we asked spirit to stay with us for some table tipping.  With our fingertips lightly on the table, the table started moving.  We managed to get the table to lift towards Mark for yes, and opposite for no, and was able to ask spirit some questions.  He was a male spirit from WW2 who had murdered someone here.  Mark suddenly felt a coldness behind him and heard a footstep next to him, which made him jump.  We had also heard a footstep earlier in a different place.  We then put the Ouija board back on the table without the planchette, and with us touching the board asked spirit to move it, to our surprise the Ouija board started moving on the table.  We then asked it to rotate, which it did.  With only a short time left, we went back to the table tipping, and again the table started lifting, spinning and started to walk out the room.  We did also have a spirit box on for some of the time and were hearing corresponding words to the answers on the board i.e. hello and yes.

A fabulous end to the night at a terrific venue!

Old Beneficiary School – 5th December 2015 – Louise

Old Beneficiary School ghost hunt 5th December 2015
Portsmouth, Hampshire

groundlings-theatre

Area: In front of the stage
Equipment: Table Tipping/ Ouija Board and Dowsing Rods

I started all the sessions on the Ouija board. Not everyone wanted to participate in this activity but all were more than happy to watch. The guests sat round the table and I asked spirit to step forward and come and communicate with us by moving the glass. Very little happened and the glass didn’t move despite all the encouragement to spirit to come and tell us their story. I told the guests to keep encouraging as I went to join two other guests that had started to work on the table tipping. Initially this was also very slow to start, but then the table began to gently rock from side to side. At this point a really cold sensation passed right through us as we heard a loud bang come from the wall right beside us. Jason (team) called out to spirit to make the again if that was them to make the noise again and straight away the noise was heard again but louder. With More encouragement from the guests on the table the table slid itself across the floor to the Ouija table and stopped.  As there was no movement from the glass the remaining guests decided to join us on the table. Shuffling noises and loud footsteps were heard coming from the on the stage and got us all a bit worried at this point. On investigation nothing was found but the footsteps carried on throughout the rest of the session. As there was now more energy on the table it started to rock back and fourth tipped on to one leg and spin us around. One of the guests asked spirit if they could walk the table to the door before we leave. To out surprise the table very gently started to walk towards the door. All encouraging spirit saying how well they were doing the table then walked very quickly and stopped very abruptly when it reached the door. Activity stopped at this point except that we thought we heard laughter of small children as we left the room.

Army Flying Museum ghost hunt 23rd January 2016
Middle Wallop, Hampshire

army-flying-museum-new

Equipment: Table tipping/ Ouija board

For this session it was decided that I use a conference room. I started the session by splitting the group into to smaller groups. Five started on the Table tipping and five started on the Ouija board. At first the glass didn’t move even with the encouragement from the group to spirit. After some time the glass started to move very slowly around the table then went to hello. Saying hello back to the spirit that had joined us, they went on to tell us that they were male and German and fought in the WW1 and during battle his plane was bombed from the sky. The spirit failed to give us his name even with the group asking politely.
On the table tipping, the table started rocking back and fourth but very slow. As the table became a bit more active through asking spirit to come and move the table more for us, we asked them to tip the table to the right if they wanted to communicate through the table to which point it tilted to the right. Establishing a yes and no answer by asking spirit to tilt to the right for yes and the left for no, we discovered the spirit that came through was connected to one of the guests. A girl came through who used to go to school with two of guests and had died young, but just wanted them to know that she was ok.

Explosion Museum – 14th November 2015 (Louise)

Explosion Museum ghost hunt 14th November 2015
Gosport, Hampshire

explosion-museum-1

I knew this was going to be an interesting night as I chose to go to a different part of the museum that has not been investigated before.

Session 1:
I was joined by Sue and Jason (Team). Being a small group it was decided that the guests start with table tilting. I asked the spirits to step forward and join us and move the table for us in some way. Initially the table did not move. I asked the guests if they could all encourage spirit to come and move the table. With the energy from all the group the table began gently rocking at which point all the guests started laughing. Telling the guests that spirit like laughter one of the guests started telling jokes. This seemed to really work as the table lifted on to two legs and then quickly on to one leg and spun round in a clockwise direction. With more encouragement from the group the table started to slowly walk. The guests were all amazed by this as the table carried on walking the whole length of the room and back again.
I then asked the guests if they would like to try and communicate with spirit through the Ouija Board to which they all replied yes. With the help of Sue (team), the glass started to move very slowly. I encouraged spirit to step forward and communicate and please tell us their story. The glass went straight to hello. Sue then asked if we were talking to a male spirit to which spirit replied yes. He went on to tell us that his name was Peter and we found out he was a very private person and a little shy to talk to us. However, with encouragement from the whole group he then told us that he had two brothers called Edward and Cameron. At this point he seemed to come through very strong and went on to tell us that Cameron had killed him and his brother Edward by putting cyanide poisoning in their food. He told us that he had done this as revenge over an inheritance that was left by their Nan. He then went onto say his Mum was still alive and well when he received the inheritance but later fell ill. He nursed her through her illness but had no help from his other two brothers and this made him upset and angry as he worshipped his Mum. He gave the date of 1901 and said he was in charge of a warehouse that dealt with ammunition. This session was special as the movements on the board were very strong and quick and unusually he spelt out sentences and not just words

Session 2:
Again I started this session with the table tipping. Asking all the guests to encourage spirit to come and move the table, it started to gently rock back and fourth. I asked spirit to move the table like it had in session one. The table then tipped up onto one leg and spun round really first with all the guests finding it hard to keep up. Keep encouraging spirit, the table walked round in a full circle clockwise and then back again anti-clockwise. Asking spirit to communicate using the table tipping it right for a yes answer and left for a no answer, one of the guests asked if we were talking to a male spirit. The table tipped to the right and then back down and we could not get any more movement from the table.
We then moved onto the Ouija board and called spirit to come and join us. The glass only did very small movements on the table, but did eventually spell out the name of Hugh but no further communications
Session 3
In this session I was joined by Wayne and Paula (team). All of the guests asked if we could start on the table tipping as none of them had tried this before. Telling the guests, they all had to encourage spirit to come and move the table, they didn’t hesitate. Initially the table gently rocked from side to side. I asked spirit to come and move the table in some other way. The table tipped up on to two legs and held this position for some time. I stepped away from the table but told the guests to keep encouraging spirit to move the table for them. During this session we heard a loud bang come from the corner of the room and what sounded like a chair being scraped across the floor. We then heard really loud footsteps, and then it sounded like they were running towards us. At this point the table walked very first towards the Ouija board and abruptly stopped. We all took this as the spirit wanting to communicate through the board. As soon as we put our fingers on the glass it moved straight away spelling out the name Peter. I asked if we were talking to the same spirit as from session 1 and he confirmed yes. He then went on to confirm the names of is brothers Edward and Cameron, the cyanide poisoning, the family dispute over the inheritance left by his Nan and him having to look after his Mum. But then to our amazement he spelt out the sentence ‘thank you for being here I have loved speaking to you’ and we all cried.

Totally amazing night that blew the guests and the team members minds away.

Marwell Hall ghost hunt 24th October 2015
Winchester, Hampshire

marwell-hall-close

Area: Library
Equipment: Ouija, Table Tipping, Glass Work, Writing Planchette
With the first group we had some slight movement with the table rocking gently.  In the second group we had a little communication with spirit on the Ouija – young girls with the initial F R or the first two letters of her name.  However, in the third group we had much more interaction on the Ouija: Vera aged 78 and lived here.  Then Anna aged 82 who was friends with Vera.  They lived here together, and passed away together.  Anna had 3 children but one died.  Guests were also asking the spirit to spell their names, which to their surprise spirit did, spelling Cath and Donna.  However, I wanted to try an experiment and asked the guests if they minded being blindfolded.  With their consent we asked spirit to spell their names again, to which the two names were spelt correctly, and with ease.  I also asked spirit to spell another guests’ name, of which Amy was spelt, who was also on the table.  Spirit also stated the ages of Amy & Cath correctly.  We then tried some table tipping, and the table started moving quite easily.  Rocking, spinning then walking out the room, and tried going up a few of the stairs.  We then asked the spirit to walk the table back into the library which it did.  One of the many questions asked was do you have a favourite book, and the spirit, whose name was Michael was able to direct us to his favourite book on the shelf about horses.
