Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 26th May 2013
Pluckley, Kent.
Our Pluckley ghost hunts are very popular which is why this particular event was held on a Sunday, albeit a Bank Holiday weekend in the hope that it wouldn’t be busy either in Pluckley or the woods, however there were a large number of people in the car park when we arrived and were leaving after spending a couple of hours getting muddy walking around the woods. By the time we started they had all left the woods, but we could still hear them shouting in the car park.
However as we walked deeper into the woods, thankfully we could hear less of their shouting and screaming. After stopping in the middle of the woods, which is where I normally start and after handing out some of our portable ghost hunting equipment the spirit energies started to make themselves known. Firstly by lighting up our KII (EMF) meters and then using the communication devices so that the guests could ask questions and get responses. Many people also took photos at this time and some of their photos contained some strange anomalies, namely mists. Light anomalies or orbs we ignore in the woods because it is probable that they are caused by an environmental issue; like pollen, moisture or insects. A male spirit called Thomas, aged 34 years old joined us briefly and some guests were able to use the electronic equipment to ask him questions.
From here we moved onto another active spot, in fact it is the spot where I and previous guests have heard a strange female scream, which is probably how the woods got its name.
At this location we were joined by a familiar male spirit to me, his name is Philip and he passed away in a motorcycle accident near to the woods in the 1960s. I asked Philip to move the arms of the guests when we were holding the séance, which he was able to do with ease. One of the guests was Spanish and did not understand any English, so it was quite a surprise to him when his hands started to move. Other guests including myself found this quite interesting because this particular person didn’t understand English then he could not have known what I was asking the spirit to do to him and others, which proved to the guests that it wasn’t mind over matter. Lots of guests also felt swaying motions and being pulled backwards into a sort of limbo position! Many guests were also touched (by the arms of other guests) on limbs that were recovering i.e. broken arms, shoulders, ribs etc.
At the end of this séance session I held an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment.
Unfortunately most of the questions contained too much background noise like coughing, whispering and general shuffles to hear any spirit response, however one question had a clear answer from Philip. This can be heard at http://youtu.be/exyvd-NVyI0
From here we moved onto another active spot within the woods, the particular area is a much more spooky part of the woods, the trees have grown in an odd way, which many guests say they look spooky and that the trees seem to watch!
Turning on my spirit box (a device that’s scans the FM radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms) and asking for the spirit present to say someone’s name it didn’t take long before we heard “Steve” plus some other names, although none of those were guests names. But we did hear the words “Go” and “Now”. With this the guests wanted to leave this particular part of the woods as that had spooked them out. Just as we were about to leave the area, two guests (a mother and her son) both heard a voice say “Jesus” however no-one else heard this, nor any noise that could be interpreted as a voice. This is something that happens frequently in this part of the woods, people have often heard voices or noises that no-one else hears.
This was an enjoyable ghost hunt and one in which many guests had some form of paranormal activity that they couldn’t explain happen to them.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 25th May 2013
Colchester, Essex
Normally at this ghost hunt we set up the majority of our remote cameras so that we and our guests can monitor the whole hotel during the ghost hunt, however due to a technical problem and the fact that we didn’t have enough time to set up all the equipment before the ghost hunt we only had half of our usual cameras. However those we set up in the most active areas and people were transfixed all night with the different activity seen from those cameras.
As usual I spent most of the night in the cellar, as it is a strange energy that resides here, people often experience the same types of feelings and sensations every time we visit.
More or less as soon as we started the séance a male spirit energy called Tommy Belcher (or Bletcher) joined us. He was about 34 years old and quite tall at 5’11”. A wealthy man who was wearing a three piece black suit with a top hat. He also sported a silver pocket watch and was from 1850s – 1860s and many would describe him as being a typical “Hooray Henry”. This energy was present throughout all three sessions that I held in the cellar.
The first group of guests experienced some light and gentle arm movement, which was generally on command and affected the majority of the guests. Tommy was also able to gently push some of the guests, once again this happened on command.
Some guests also felt tingling or warm sensations in their hands, although one guest had very cold hands, which he said was unusual for him.
The second group to the cellar had much more activity, mainly because they were more open minded and did not restrict the sensations that Tommy was trying to achieve with them. Everybody had some form of spiritual movement, either their arms being moved at will and sometimes against their will or being pushed, swayed or pulled to the floor. Being pulled to the floor is a very common occurrence within the cellar. The staff of the hotel don’t like the cellar either and if they ever have to get something from the cellar they don’t hang about getting it!
One group of friends were being pulled to the floor, so one of them said to their friends “think up thoughts” and the more that they said up, the further down Tommy pulled them.
The Third group also had some gentle arm movement forced upon them by Tommy, but it seemed that Tommy wore himself out with the second group and even though the movements were defined, they were slow.
Many guests reported seeing shadows and movements through the tunnel part of the cellar, this is also a common occurrence as well as hearing footsteps and shuffling when at the other end of the cellar.
A very enjoyable ghost hunt was had by all, although after our controlled sessions few guests wanted to go back to the cellar as they did not want to be pushed, which always seems to occur to the guests that venture into the cellar by themselves.
No EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments were undertaken by me in the cellar because there was too much noise outside the hotel.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 18th May 2013
Chatham, Kent
Fort Horsted is one of our favourite locations, not least because we have investigated here numerous times and had some truly amazing results; it is always entertaining and amazing for one reason or another. This time was no different, although equally strange as no-one could have expected what turned out to be a first for us.
Everyone was split into two groups, which was somewhat larger than normal because one of our GHE team could not attend. However since we know the Fort extremely well this did not deter me & Carl from taking the guests to the most active areas. We also chose two areas that we the furthest from each other so that no noise from either group would affect the other.
The area that I chose is an area which we often hear and feel much the same sort of stuff time after time. We were joined by Annie a female nurse aged in her 20s from The First World War who was stationed at the Fort and a 1960s male spirit who was about 50 years old and quite grumpy.
I started with a séance, as this is the best way for the guests to get a physical experience. Arm movement started to occur quite quickly and usually on command, the guests could ask which way their arms should move in their heads and the spirit would comply. I also had several KII (EMF) meters in the room which also showed spiritual activity. Many whistles, bangs and mumbling voices were heard throughout the séance, which is actually quite normal in this area. One guest felt a touch on their head. When I suggested that guests hold out their hands in a particular area of the room so that Annie could touch them, those guests that participated could feel strange tingling sensations and that their hands were being squeezed and touched and in some cases people felt that their fingers were being pulled apart.
The second group to this area were also treated to the same spirit energies and once again lots of arm movement on command was felt by the guests, as well as lots of more physical movements some of which looked painful, especially as guests were moved in ways which they wouldn’t either choose to move or wouldn’t move as they know it would be painful.
We also moved to an upper room during this session and came across a spirit called Simon who was about 20 years old and smartly dressed. In this room we heard some odd sounds, which I likened to hearing a conversation that we couldn’t hear the words, just the sound of a conversation.
We advised the guests that after the controlled sessions they could venture off on their own, but many didn’t want to so essentially we carried on with controlled sessions and I joined a group doing a Ouija board experiment. The spirit energy was Welsh called something unpronounceable although was happy to be called Caddy. Caddy had difficulty in spelling although he was able to answer some simple Yes or No questions, but the majority of his responses just kept going to the letters G and O “GO”
I took a lot of guests, probably the majority to the Counterscarp Galleries, however very little happened because there were too many people making lots of noise, however one guest did hear her name being called out, which she thought was her friends, but they were with me and neither of them called out.
The stand out moment of the night didn’t happen with me, but happened with Carl in one of the magazine rooms, as the guests were randomly taking pictures, one of them thought that their picture contained a face, so then everyone in that group took a picture and many of them, not all, had photographed a face on the wall. Carl was keen to rule out Pareidolia so looked at the wall and rubbed any loose dust from the wall. Nothing could be seen when he stood in front of the wall, but when he stood back and some more photos were taken, the face could easily be seen and photographed. Below is the picture taken by the guest and we have circled the area to look at.

I too investigated this phenomenon and have several photographs and I don’t really have a credible explanation for this, as we have hundreds of photos and videos from this Fort and of this room and we have never seen anything like this. If indeed it is a pareidolia effect then surely we would be able to all see it all the time. Which was not the case on the night.
Several EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments were undertaken throughout the night, but unfortunately nothing audible, or clearly audible could be heard in the recordings. In all of the possible EVP’s, we can hear the start of a response, but the background noise or noise made by a guest talking or shuffling ruins the possible EVP. Which is a shame as we have had many great EVP’s recorded at Fort Horsted.
All in all this was a great ghost hunt, with lots of physical and unexplainable paranormal activity felt by the guests throughout the night.

Toys Hill and Weardale Manor ghost hunt 17th May 2013
Toys Hill, Kent
Toys Hill and Weardale Manor is one of our locations where the level of activity that is experienced by the guests is always surprising, not least because the location doesn’t seem scary or likely to produce much spiritual activity, but actually is one of the more active outdoor locations.
This ghost hunt I always start in the same place, the site of the old manor house, as the level of paranormal activity felt by the guests is usually something memorable, but it takes time and patience for the guests to experience something.
As usual after asking everyone to turn their phones off the level of activity seen on our electronic equipment surged, this is relatively normal, as mobile phones interfere not only with our equipment but also the level of spiritual activity.
Guests wandered around the perimeter of the manor house, many had spiritual contact on our various equipment. One guest felt a touch on her head and at one point we were all standing on one of the terraces a guest asked that someone we touched or moved. Although I could not see the spirit energy present, I knew which person they were going to move and stood back one step and pointed to the person that was going to be moved, half of the guests could see who I pointed to. Almost immediately the guest that I pointed to felt a touch on her lower back.
Doing this time the spikes seen on our KII (EMF) Meters was outstanding.
From here were moved into the woods to hold a séance, as the woods seem to be where the spirit energies can move and manipulate people. A spirit energy in his mid-50s joined us, he was a farmer who produced cider. The séance started with lots of arm movement, which not only surprised the guests but also exciting and frightened them at the same time. This then progressed after I asked to pushing and pulling people forwards and backwards and generally whoever I asked the spirit to move, they moved.
Many guests felt physical movement either swaying or twisting and those standing nearest to me or opposite felt themselves being pulled downwards, eventually everyone was moved in some way. I asked many times for the spirit to do the same thing to everyone and eventually we all were moved into the “Musketeer’s All for one sign”. The séance ended with an odd movement felt by everyone, which was an anticlockwise twist which everyone moved at the same time.
As we were about to leave the woods I turned on my Spirit Box (a device that scan backwards through the FM radio frequencies at 100ms). Some basic Yes and No answers were heard to questions and then a guest asked how many men were present in our group and a very clear “One” was heard, which was correct.
Once again a very enjoyable ghost hunt and one in which all the guests felt some form of physical paranormal activity.

The Priest House ghost hunt 11th May 2013
West Hoathly, West Sussex
This investigation was different than many of our others, as the size of the venue is not large enough to split guests into groups, so we started with what we normally do at the end of the night and that is to let guests wander freely around the building using our equipment to communicate with the spirit energies.
There were two reasons for this, one, was to find active areas within the building and two, was to allow the guests to ask their questions about ghost hunting and as the evening progressed into darkness everyone would know their way around the building. As this is a 15th Century building, the floors, staircase and ceilings all have uniqueness about them!
Many guests found that the upper rooms were high in spirit energies and lots of communication took place using various equipment, many guests who brought their own EVP recorders also had responses to their questions.
As I was wandering around the building checking on various groups of guests I too noticed spirit energies and described who I met along the way.
In the bedroom I came across a young girl of about 8 years old, who was holding a rather beaten up teddy bear, when I asked her about the bear, she asked why I called it a “Teddy” bear. This may be because the phrase “Teddy” bear was invented by a US toy company in 1902 after the US President Theodore Roosevelt. The guest that was in this room at that time had recorded several anomalies on her recorder. Also in the same room was another female spirit energy aged in her 20s but acted very maturely as if she was in her 60s, when asking for her name, she refused to tell me. Both girls were dressed in clothing that I would associate with the mid-1800s.
In the corridor upstairs I came across a portly gentleman about 5’8” wearing a three piece black pin stripe suit, shiny black shoes with a top buckle and wearing a top hat his name was Harold. He also sported a trimmed grey beard and hat mostly black and grey hair. He walked around the room a lot, pacing but didn’t actually want to communicate with us.
Downstairs I decided it was time to do a séance to invite the spirit energies to do something and to let their presence to be felt by the guests. I had no idea what we would encounter in the séance, but I wasn’t expecting what happened, no-one could have done.
The spirit energy that came forward was called Toby Turner, aged in his mid-20s and of muscular build, he gave me the year of 1910. Toby was quickly able to move some people into odd positions and after some relatively mild and gentle arm movement, Toby increased the activity to include pulling people backwards, but just the top half of a person, so it became rather painful and literally back breaking. Toby also used the furniture in the room to assist his movements with us, using the table that we were standing in front of. He pulled our arms down to the table and then used the table as a pivot to pull us further down. However when Toby realised that the table was in the way he used this. There were many items on the table for display purposes, all tied together with fishing wire. Toby manipulated our arms to push the brass plates on the table, usually in a circular motion to twist and slide these items around the table. There were two groups of people who were doing this, myself and Mark’s (guest) hands and
Jo (GHE team) and Karen’s (guest) hands. We were standing opposite each other. Our hands were moving all the items on the table, because they were all tied together, once one started to move the rest of the items followed, which made a lot of noise and Toby was determined to push these items off the table, but those guests that were in front of the table were able to stop them falling off. This was strange because normally spirit energies do not interact with objects in this way.
The séance ended with Jo and Karen’s hand lunging or punching into Jeff (guest) and Justin (guest), the last punch into Justin’s stomach was actually quite forceful, so I stopped the séance.
After putting all the items back to their original positions we went upstairs to try to communicate with the spirits.
Once in the bedroom a female spirit energy called Dorothy was present, she was in her 60s, a spinster, who was very religious and didn’t like our presence, however many guests could feel her presence, either by touches on the head, or some guests who were sitting on some furniture felt like they were being pushed off.
Tapping noises and responses to taps were heard along with a whistled response. Also in this room we used an Ovilus (a device that turns EMF energy into spoken words) and Dorothy was able to use this to say some words including the name of a guest “Justin” and “Priest” plus answers to some questioned asked by the guests.
This was an enjoyable ghost hunt and one in which the majority of the guests felt some physical paranormal activity, but it was also a strange event, the séance will be remembered by us and those guests involved for a long time.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 4th May 2013
Rochester, Kent
We are finding that every time we investigate Fort Borstal, the activity that is experienced by the guests is getting greater and more frequent and certain rooms have certain experiences which are consistent.
This ghost hunt was one of those nights. I, as usual, had the Counterscarp Galleries as my zone for the night, as this is the most physically demanding with 200+ steps to descend and ascend.
However the walk is definitely worth it, as these counterscarp galleries are rather active and being that this area is underground it is always rather dark!
All three groups witnessed the same spirits and activity
The spirits that were present were; Captain Daniel Bedford, a soldier. Tony, a rather mean looking prisoner from when the Fort was built and his accomplice “Biffa” or Bernard, both these prisoners were in their early 30s and both were of a muscular build.
The activity of all groups in a seance usually started with some gentle arm movement and then pushing and pulling people in all manner of directions, usually in a surprising way that the guest had no idea what would be experienced next, sometimes I had an inkling what would happen to a particular person, but I too was surprised by what most of the guests experienced. This ranged from the gentle arm movement, to people be swayed and rocked, to people being pulling to the floor by their arms and in some cases dragged across the floor, those that ending up on the floor had difficulty and in some cases it was impossible to get up off the floor. Many guests reported that it felt like someone was sitting on them. There were also lots of instances of people being pushed against the walls; this was unusual because it looked very much like an execution.
Although not all the activity was extreme physical behaviour many times throughout the night, with different groups, several people arms and hands were pulled to the floor and “draw” a smiley face in the dust. Which many guests felt this was an odd thing to do.
This was an exceptionally active night, with every guest getting some form of physical paranormal activity that amazed them.

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 28th April 2013

This was the last of the early evening ghost hunts until much later in the year and also one of the occasions where some of the guests failed to notify us that they weren’t coming until moments before we were due to start.
Those that did turn up were treated to an excellent ghost hunt with lots of physical paranormal experiences.
The first session after handing out some of our usual ghost hunting equipment, lots of activity was detected on the KII (EMF) Meters and on our communication devices, where the guests were able to communicate with the spirit energy that was present. His name was David McGloughan (not sure of the spelling) although the spirit energy in question said “you can call me Dave”. He was 32 years old, quite tall at 5’11” and of a muscular build, wearing a cream granddad shirt and tan or light brown trousers and big heavy black boots. He had a round face, light brown hair and a stubble beard.
I had intended to hold a séance here, but didn’t as we needed to move due to the coldness of the woods, so after we walked on and stopped at another crossroads.
At this location there was another spirit energy; Tom aged in his mid-50s and about 5’6” in height, he was unshaven and had large sideburns that extended down to his chin.
Guests were busy taking photographs as some of them had some very unusual mists or apparitions in them, it wasn’t a misty night, in fact there was no weather to speak of, it wasn’t cold either.
After I set up the laser grid there was lots more communication via electronic equipment and KII activity, but nothing notable was seen in the grid. During this time there were some very unusual noises, which didn’t sound like the normal woodland creatures or the trees. This sounded more like purposeful tapping, more like a musical instrument and when I whistled out a distinct whistle back was heard, albeit a very faint one.
At this moment we were interrupted by the sound of people who were shouting, mainly because they were lost and were trying to shout to the rest of their party whom they obviously got separated from. This went on for a while, which I found very amusing as I know where every path goes and we could clearly hear their anxiety. In reality they were only about 500 yards apart but on different parallel paths that don’t join up.
After one of these groups decided to head back towards their car we were able to carry on.
I held a séance where we originally came across the spirit energy Dave, Tom also followed us to this point. Everyone felt their presence as their arms we all moved on command and when I asked for the spirits to gently push people, they were happy to oblige. Many guests were also “wobbled” or swayed which the guests found slightly amusing. Tara (guest) had both her arms pulled backwards.
All the guests were moved in some way and some of the movements were all what the guests asked for (in their heads).
After the séance I turned on my spirit box (a device that scans at 100ms on the FM radio band in reverse). Some words were heard but they were very faint and not clearly audible.
As we were leaving the woods we came across a group of people who were glad to see someone, however they were expecting their friends and not us and were disappointed when I told them where their friends were walking, because their friends were walking on a path that would eventually take them around the whole woods, which is a 5 mile walk.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 30th March 2013
Colchester, Essex
We always enjoy coming to The Red Lion Hotel in Colchester as something usually happens that hasn’t happened before plus we have known phenomena that seems to always happen to some guests.
The Red Lion Hotel also allows us to set up all our remote cameras so that all guests can monitor what is happening throughout the hotel, which is especially useful as some of the rooms we use are not big enough for all the guests to be in at the same time.
I as always chose the cellar for my sessions, mainly because this is where a lot of activity happens and guests get a unique experience.
With the first group I encountered a spirit energy called Jerry, he was about 70 years old and from the 1950s, he was a very happy fellow who liked to prove his existence to the guests. We were also joined by a young female energy, called Catherine, who preferred to be called Kate, she was from 1910 era and about 27 years old and spent most of the session watching and laughing at what we were doing. There was also a third spirit energy that “popped in” throughout the session, he was called Christopher, aged in his mid-30s, and quite a stocky build and from the 1960s era.
The session started with some gentle arm movement, which quickly progressed into pushing people and pulling them to the floor. Many guests felt their arms move in strange ways plus many also reported some very cold sensations and breezes. (There are normally no breezes in the cellar). After the séance finished some guests said that their arms felt strange, described by one guest as his arms did not feel that they belonged to him and he had to really concentrate to move his own arms.
With the second group, the spirit energies; Jerry and Kate were still present and once again many guests had their arms moved, usually on command, but after a while Jerry got bored of doing what people asked and decided to move people’s arms where he wanted them to go. Once again after I asked for people to be pushed, Jerry obliged and started to push some of the guests as well as making them bend over, by pulling their arms to the floor, which at times was very uncomfortable.
During this session, towards the end, several guests all reported seeing a face behind me, or between me and another guest, which at the time I couldn’t see on the screen, it was too far away to see with any clarity, however we have reviewed this footage and cannot see anything suspicious, however a compilation of the activity experienced in the cellar sessions is available to watch on our video site http://www.ghosthuntevents.tv/ so you can watch for yourselves.
The third group to the cellar encountered similar activity, only this time Christopher, the spirit energy that “popped in” throughout the first session stuck around much longer and spent time affecting the guests. Once again arm movement was quite quick and purposeful but only affected a few guests, mainly towards my end of the séance circle with a few guests either side of me being affected. Many guests at the other end of the circle reported warm sensations around their knees and other strange sensations in their forearms. One guest commented that it felt like someone holding on to his forearm.
After our three controlled sessions, we allow (as we always do at The Red Lion Hotel) for the guests to hold their own ghost hunt or vigil in any of the areas that we have used throughout the night and they may use our ghost hunting equipment.
I joined a group back in the cellar as they wanted to experience more movements and this time we were joined by a spirit energy that was called either Jeremy or Jeremia, who didn’t really tell me anything about himself and a young boy of about 8 years old called Tommy.
Once again lots of arm movement was felt by the guests, along with some strange tummy rubbing and lots of pushing and pulling people backwards. Just about everyone at one time or another was pulled to the floor. Many of the people affected in this session couldn’t lift themselves off the floor; they all said it felt like someone sitting on them, restricting their movements. Towards the end of this session our arms were moved in such a way that we were tangled with each other.
At one particular moment one guest who was not either stuck to the floor or had his arms tangled with other guests noted a face on the camera screen behind me. This particular guest was not in the second group and didn’t know that the second group to the cellar saw something similar.
Just as we were about to leave the cellar several KII (EMF Meter) Meters lit up, we had a number of KII’s in the cellar but all night no activity was seen on them apart from this brief moment.
No EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a ghost voices) were recorded in the cellar because of the loud noises heard from outside throughout the evening.

Toys Hill and Weardale Manor ghost hunt 26th April 2013
Toys Hill, Kent
Toys Hill and Weardale Manor is a strange place, during the day it a favourite location for walkers as the place is very serene and wonderful views over East Sussex towards Reigate. At night the atmosphere changes and although not in a scary way, but the location seems to have a more watchful feeling. Many guests often feel that they are being watched especially when we are standing around in the area that used to be the Manor house.
This night was no different. Whilst standing in parts of the current landscape, which would have been indoors in the past many people felt uneasy, although our KII (EMF) Meters lit up as the spirit walked amongst us. Our communication devices also allowed the guests to talk to the spirit energies.
Richard (guest) felt strange tingling sensations in his neck, not around his neck, but he said that it felt as if something was manipulating his neck muscles, which he also said felt quite nice, as it was similar to a massage.
After a period of time, we moved away from the remains of the Manor house, as the spirit energy contact was getting less and more sporadic and walked into the woods.
We were joined by a spirit energy called Thomas who was 67 years old, mostly bald and of a thin build, 5’11” in height who was an engineer in life and wearing a blue and white striped shirt, and the sleeves were rolled up. Although he didn’t tell me the era that he was from, by his mannerisms and how he spoke I would have said that he was from the 20th Century.
I started to hold a séance circle, as in the past this has been very fruitful. Once again various people within the group started to feel their arms tingle. Richard also informed us that it felt as if something solid was holding his bicep, like a cane or a walking stick.
Emma (guest) had her arms moved by Thomas and she also felt dizzy and sick at times, this seemed to occur when her arms were moving.
Since Thomas didn’t seem to have enough energy to move some people, I moved around the circle to assist with the energy requirements. When I was standing beside Katie (guest) her arm with me moved suddenly that it surprised her, she was also questioning the movement, so I asked her boyfriend to ask which way her and my arms should move in his head. There is then no way that either Katie or myself are going to know what he asked in his head. Katie was then really surprised when our arms moved and in the direction that was asked for, twice!
After the séance some guests left as they had moaned since the start that it was cold, I asked them why they were not wearing the correct attire for the conditions (a warm coat for instance), given that we were standing on a hill at midnight in April, to which they answered that they didn’t think it would be this cold. It was about 7 degrees Celsius and with a keen northerly wind and completely clear skies.
Those that remained, the spirit energy Thomas had not finished and as we stood there he was able to gently push and sway people, we were not holding hands at the time and the guests found this very strange and exhilarating at the same time.
At the end of this session I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena A.K.A. ghost voice) experiment. There were answers after all the questions, but unfortunately the majority of these were too quiet to hear properly or when amplified the recording was distorted.

Rowfant House ghost hunt 6th April 2013
Crawley, West Sussex
Rowfant House is one of the secret gems of the countryside, once owned by a very important and influential family who let Winston Churchill stay during the Second World War and is now home to the Latvian Lutheran Church in England.
We had no idea what to expect at this ghost hunt as it was the first ghost hunt undertaken at this venue by anyone. We were not disappointed as activity seemed to happen all night long.
All the guests were split into three smaller groups which were headed by different members of the GHE team, I had commandeered a bedroom for my sessions as I felt that something terrible happened in this room. It was also the same room that Churchill used when he stayed at Rowfant House.
There were two spirit energies that were present all night with me, the first was Captain Terry McLoughlan, aged in his early 30s and was in what is now the RAF and from the First World War era. Terry was of slim build, about 5’10” in height with light brown hair. He was dressed in a very smart uniform. The second was Annabelle, aged in her early 20s with long brown hair wearing a dirty white dress. She suffered from Eczema and when I first noticed her she had a smell of ammonia about or associated with her.
The first group to enter this room felt some unusual cold spots and high levels of KII EMF energy along with some long conversations on our communication devices. Many guests smelt carbolic soap throughout the session.
During the séance some guests felt arm movement along with some pushing and swaying which was Terry making himself known. After the séance some guests sitting down felt tingling sensations and very heavy heads, others who were all sitting on the sofa felt very serene and relaxed. The person who was sitting in a chair favoured by Winston Churchill felt very depressed (they did not know at that time that it was Churchill’s chair, this I told them after the session had finished).
Many of the guests took photos during the session, some of which contained light anomalies or orbs.
The second group, in this room smelt soap once again, although two guests thought that it may have been bleach. During the session there were many strange flashes of light seen outside the windows, had it been thundery then I would have said it was lightening, but it wasn’t. Just after one of these flashes some guests thought they saw a face outside the window. It wasn’t a real person because we were on the first floor! However it remains unexplained what they saw.
Andy (guest) whilst sitting in a chair felt very important and I didn’t tell him until after the session finished that this was Churchill’s chair. Others who were sitting in the same seats as the first group felt the complete opposite (of the first group) many feeling uncomfortable and edgy. I felt very dizzy and I was sitting on the bed.
The third group had the most physical activity and during the séance, which included lots of arm movement, pushing and pulling the guests backwards and twisting arms behind people’s backs. One guest felt sick and had to leave the room. Many times our hands were moved in a circular motion, sometimes in mid-air and sometimes close to the floor, why remains a mystery. Jason (guest) and I were pulled by our arms to the floor. A third spirit energy came into the room towards the end of the session, he was a mischievous male energy who wanted to touch certain people in the group and many guests felt a cob web sensation around their face.
Once again some of us who were facing the window saw strange flashes of light outside, although we still have no explanation as to what could have caused this.
After the séance had finished I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice experiment. Many of the guests’ questions had some sort of response although we couldn’t work out what they all said.

For the very first ghost hunt at Rowfant house we were amazed at the level of activity that the guests encountered throughout the night.
