The Museum of East Dorset in Wimborne Minster, Dorset dates back to the 1500s. Formerly called The Priest's House Museum.

Hilda Coles inherited the ironmonger's business from her father, Tom Frank Coles, following his death in 1953. Seven years later she took the decision to close the shop and fulfil his long-held wish to turn the building, known as the Priest's House, into a museum. The museum opened on 31 July 1962.

The museum occupies a historic Grade II* listed building, a hall house dating from the late 16th or early 17th century.
Notable rooms are the 17th-century main hall and the 18th-century parlour and a 250 year old kitchen.
Mr Low's Victorian stationery shop (closed up for over 30 years) and the Coles' Ironmongers were both recreated from original shop stock.

John Bowdidge, a Gentleman, lived in the house between 1687 and 1695. Later the building was divided between several families. The front portion of the building was most likely used as a shop from the mid-1700s until 1960.

The outbuildings are Georgian, and the Tin Smith's and Forge are Victorian.

Ghostly Activity
Staff have heard noises and bangs when alone in the House. Books have impossibly 'jumped' off a book shelf! Along with a feeling of being watched. This museum has a lot of potential.

Harwich Redoubt Fort in Harwich, Essex was constructed between 1808 and 1810 to protect the port of Harwich against the threat of Napoleonic invasion. The fort was constructed on a hill, which allowed views in all directions.

French prisoners of war were made to help construct the fort. The fort has a central parade ground. It was originally armed with ten 24 pounder cannons. In 1861 a 68 pounder cannon was added to the fort's weapon range.

Later in 1903 three 12 pounder QF guns were added to the fort. Despite the ongoing modernisation no shot was fired in force. In the 1920s the redoubt was falling into disrepair. The fort was briefly used during the Second World War to house British troops awaiting trial. Restoration started in 1969 and still continues today.

Ghostly Activity
Witnesses have reportedly seen apparitions through the windows and heard unexplained footsteps. Many visitors to the fort have also reported being touched by unseen hands in the lower casements. There have also been many other mysterious noises and apparitions seen by visitors.

The fort is well known for the apparition of a headless soldier. In 1972 a soldier was decapitated by a cable attached to a 12 ton cannon which broke under the strain. It is rumoured that this soldier now roams the fort.
