Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 28th May 2016
Colchester, Essex
Area: Rooms 6 & 7
Equipment: Scrying, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums & Glass Work
With all four groups we started with scrying and were all seeing similar images: older female, with wrinkles, one side of the face and eye dropping, a male with a goatee beard, and a wide grin, with a lip curl sometimes. Would see shadows moving behind the reflection of people too. With the rods & pendulums all were able to communicate with the spirits.
We then tried glass work, and had little movement on most groups, but one group we had the spirit of a male, who had died in this room (room 6) in the 1900’s from a sudden illness. We asked if he had a message, responded with yes, asked if he needed help going to the light, again responded with yes, so we did our best to guide him.
With the first group doing glass work in room 7, myself and Karl & Charlie (guests) were feeling the energy of a spirit next to us. It felt colder, static/tingly, and the air just felt thicker. We moved in different places in the room, and the feelings were moving with us.
With one group (hen party) we also did the Human Pendulum in room 7, and had the spirit of a little boy with us. He didn’t know his age or the year he passed. He did die of an illness, some of his family did too. He had lived here in this building, and had a sister.
With the free session I joined a group of guests wanting to try some table tipping, so we set up in the bar area. The table started moving, very gently, then would lift up one side but do no more. Whilst doing this I felt and saw what I though was someone walk behind me, when I looked no-one was there. Two of the guests felt and saw the same.
A fantastic night at the Red Lion Hotel – we all love coming here.

Ouija & Table Tipping
With my first group we had the spirit of Fred on the Ouija. He was 27 years old, had died here, but didn’t work here. He had committed suicide by drinking bleach, due to what he saw whilst fighting for the Essex Regiment in World War Two. He had passed in 1949, and had three brothers. The second spirit that came through was a man from England in 1578. He was killed in October aged 56. He gave us the following info: OTKPYCMRUZQ saying it was a radio frequency. He said he was a house worker.
With my next group we had a female spirit called Tiffany, age 44 from 1423. Is married and has 2 children and lives here. Asked if she has lived before, she has had 5 lives, and will not re-incarnate anymore. She passed away in childbirth, and the previous spirit called Fred was her brother. She confirmed Fred was with the other group helping another male spirit move the table. Asked if she had a message for us, she spelt UTAN4, asked if she was thanking the four people on the Ouija table, she said yes.
On the table tipping they were communicating with a male spirit, who was married with children. Was happy to be here. Had worked here, and there were more than one spirit here. He had died here, was murdered, head trauma, a friend had killed him.
With my third group the spirit on the Ouija spelt their name as MAM. Asked if she was royalty she said yes. She was 37 years old from 1919. King George was on the throne, she had 4 children, and was related to King George. She said she was his sister. I did check these records, and although King George did have sisters, all passed in their 60’s and not in 1919.
With all three groups the table tipping was incredible, with all guests being amazed by what the spirits were able to do, lifting, rocking, spinning and walking the table around the room. With many guests experiencing this for the first time. It was a really fun night, and a venue I cannot wait to return.

Sandford Mill ghost hunt 5th March 2016
Chelmsford, Essex
After visiting this museum last year, we were keen to visit again to see if the activity that was experienced could occur again. We were not disappointed!
This time I chose the barn for all my séance sessions as it contained some more museum exhibits and the energy felt good.
There was a male spirit called Patrick in the barn with us. He was 34 years old and from the English Civil War era, he passed from being shot in the head.
The first group experienced lots of arm movement and pushing and pulling backwards, as did the second group, although we were also joined by another male spirit called Brian who lived near to the museum in mid 1750s. He told me that he had murdered children by drowning them in the river. The third group also felt the arm movement and gentle swaying of the first group but it was not as energetic.
This was another excellent ghost hunt with the majority of the guests experiencing some form of paranormal activity throughout of sessions. We look forward to returning later in 2016.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 29th October 2015
Colchester, Essex
The first two sessions were using kit and gadgets in the haunted bedrooms.
My séances sessions were held as usual in the cellar, the first group had the most activity and all hands were lifted and manipulated. The spirit responsible was called Henry, 46 years old and from 1810-12 when he was Hotel Manager.
The second group didn’t have as much movement although there was some swaying and rocking.
Towards the end of the night we were all in the Restaurant using a combination of Writing planchette and Ouija board and met a boy aged about 8 years old who was drawing various shapes and objects for the guests.
Another excellent ghost hunt and we hope to return in 2016

Colchester Town Hall ghost hunt 28th November 2015
Colchester, Essex
For my séance session I held all of them in the top floor flat or what used to be a flat, the two end rooms are the strangest with odd sensations being felt by guests over several events that we have hosted here.
This time though we were joined by a male spirit called Robert who was a Council Official in 1950s and 60s who was run over by a car on the high street. This particular spirit made those who encountered him feel dizzy, disorientated and made the room feel oppressive.
We were also joined by a spirit called Peter who was from 1902, he was aged about 15 and was responsible for touching some people’s bums and making odd noises.
There was also a spirit who was from Harwich and a Fishmonger who sold his fish in the weekly market.
All séances guests felt the spirit present by way of gentle arm movement or not so gentle movement with some people being pushed or dragged to the floor by their arms. Some of the guests felt the pain of the spirit i.e. head trauma. Whilst others saw things that they could not explain – a man standing at the end of the corridor wearing a Guy Fawkes style hat (flower pot)
This was an excellent ghost hunt with all guests having some form of paranormal encounter with the spirit present.
We look forward to returning to this venue

Colchester Town Hall ghost hunt 28th November 2015
Colchester, Essex
Area: Kitchen and adjoining rooms
Equipment: Table tipping / dowsing rods
Session 1: group C
I started this session in the Kitchen area. Working on two tables it was decided that the group split into two smaller groups so there was an even number of guests on the table. I explained to the guests to put one hand lightly on the tables and I stood on the middle of the room and called spirit forward to come and move the tables in some way. Initially there was no movement, one of the tables then started to gently rock back and fourth but no more movement even with encouragement from the group. At this point the guests decided to split up and take the tables to separate rooms to see if the spirit activity would be stronger. One group had no movement at all from the table even with my encouragement and theirs. So I decided to try the group with the dowsing rods. After explaining how they work to the guests showing a movement for yes and a movement for no, they all began to get activity and all started to asks questions. A couple of spirits came through that of a little girl and male spirit in his 50’s. However no more information was received. In the other room the group had the table moving and the K2 that I had placed on the chair was lighting up. I asked spirit if they could possibly light the K2 up to amber and hold it there and it did so, a which point the table started tipping on to one leg and spinning round really fast. All the guests started laughing and the K2 lit right up to red. After some more encouragement from the guests the table started to walk and went out of the door and right along the corridor stopped for a while and then walked straight back into the room. As the activity from spirit was so great, I decided to ask the guests if they would like to move one of the bigger tables in the room. The table I can only describe as a long school dinner table. We all placed our hands on the table and immediately the table started to tremble. Vanessa and Marie (guests) called out to spirit to ask possibly if they would move the table for us instead of making it tremble. Then all of sudden taking us all by surprise it started rocking really forcefully back and fourth.
Session 2: Group A
This group were the VIP’s being looked after by Kym (Team). It was decided that we all start the session back in the Kitchen area. Again initially the tables didn’t move, so I asked the group to encourage spirit to move the tables to which they did. Both tables slowly started to move just gently rocking back and fourth. Kym (Team) then decided to take a group into another room. My group and I stayed on the table in the kitchen as it had really started to move. The guests asked spirit to show them more with table to prove that they could do more. A this point the table tipped up on to one leg spun round in an anti-clockwise direction and walked us out into the corridor and straight into the other room where all the activity had taken place on the first session. The table walked right up to Kym’s group and stopped. Both tables then stopped moving. But we noticed that the K2 was lighting right up to red. I asked spirit to take it back down to the green light which it did, then asked if they would take it back up to red if we moved into the kitchen area and move one of the big tables in there, it shot straight up to red. After placing our hands on the table and calling out to spirit the table completely spun round in a full circle. We could not believe that this was happening. The table then stopped and we could here taps, bangs and scraping noises coming from under the table and we could also feel the vibrations through our hands. One of the guests asked spirit if they could possibly do that again for us and it did so straight away. At this point I and one other guest saw a shadow figure pass by the doorway. We went to investigate and the temperature in the corridor had dropped significantly.
Session 3: Group B
This session was started in the Kitchen. Initially there was no response from spirit even with encouragement from the guests. The table then stated to move very slowly rocking then suddenly started to spin went up on to one leg and held this position. With encouragement from Janet (guest) the table started to walk out into the corridor and down the stairs. This amazed the guests, so as we were getting a lot of activity from spirit, Janet (guest) decided that we move on to one of the big tables that I can only describe as a school dinner table. The table immediately started to rock back and fourth forcefully. At the same time during the session a number of guests saw shadow figures walking along the corridor and disappearing into the other room.

Town Hall ghost hunt 28th November 2015

The Mayor’s Parlour – Pendulums, Ouija, Writing Planchette
At the start of my first session we began by using the pendulums, and each guest had movement although some were taking longer to get going than others. Most of the guests established their yes and no directions and were communicating with spirit either out loud or in their heads.
We didn’t have much movement with the glass when doing Ouija, as it seemed spirit did not want to communicate in this way and kept moving the glass to goodbye.
We did however have a very successful session with the writing planchette, as it started moving more or less straight away, and was continuously doing so around the paper. We kept asking spirit to draw something for us or write their name or initial, and when we looked at what had been drawn, it looked like a bird. We also had a lot of activity on the ghost pros, and it was as though two different spirits were arguing with each other, as one kept contradicting the other. During this time, we started to hear taps on the table next to us where no one was sitting. I then asked spirit to copy my taps, to which it immediately did so. Guests were amazed by this, and a few of them also did some taps, to which spirit once again responded.
In another of my sessions spirit drew the letter J and the letter I with the writing planchette.
During my final session we contacted a spirit named Robert via the Ouija. He told us he was from 1865 and had a wife called Gill and a 6-year-old son, Anthony. He then told us that his son was strangled by a man called George, so Robert killed George and then killed himself by running under a horse and cart. He said that George was always with him tormenting him, and that they are both bad men. We asked Robert if he had a message for us, and he spelt out “will see you”. When asked if he meant he will see us in the cells downstairs, as this is where we were planning to go afterwards, he responded with yes.
At the end of the night we had a free session so we went down to the cells, and myself and Kym held a séance with the guests. Some of the guests including myself were being pushed slowly to the right and a couple of people’s arms were raised. We also heard some whistles, which sounded like they were coming from one of the cells.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 29th October 2015

Equipment: Ouija & Table Tilting
We tried the Ouija, but unfortunately no movement, however with the table tipping it started rocking very gently, with creaks and taps coming from underneath. After seeing a shadow walk past the tunnel Adam (guest) stood there and could feel alot of coldness around him. When he stepped away the coldness stopped, when he stepped back the coldness was there again. Then we all heard a whistle next to us. With the second group we again had some gentle rocking on the table, and guests could feel a coldness between them, when Jasmine (guest) moved the coldness moved with her. Then she had a cold blow in her ear which made her jump a little. With the Ouija the guests communicated with three slaves from Nigeria, the first one called Zaf year 1243. The second was called Nag, but was killed by the third spirit who was Alf the slave master. Then another spirit stepped forward who knew one of the guests. His name was Nev, and knew Joanne (guest) from childhood, which left her quite emotional.

With both groups we learnt how to use the dowsing rods and pendulums and was able to communicate with the spirits there. We tried some scrying too. With the second group using the glass to communicate with spirit, we had a young boy with us. The boy was drawn to Jasmine (guest) in particular, and said he would like to do some drawing with us using the writing planchette. So we moved down to the restaurant to try and was amazed with the drawings that came through, the first in particular was the number 8 which we believe was his age.
Some guests were trying the Ouija again and were talking to another slave called B9

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 3rd October 2015

Due to the management at the hotel this event did not go as smoothly as previous events and we had to use public parts of the hotel that we would not normally use for the ghost hunt. That said the information and activity experienced by the guests was relatively normal for the venue.
The first two sessions that I undertook were using our ghost hunting equipment and gadgets, all guests had communication with various spirits including a spirit box where voices were clearly heard answering questions asked by the guests. [A spirit box is a device that scans radio frequencies in reverse at 100ms]
The following two sessions I held séances in the cellar of the hotel with spirit happily and capable of moving the majority of the circles. Some people were pushed, swayed and gently rocked, some people had to be asked to be moved whilst others were moved whether they asked or not. Some of the guests were pulled by their arms to the floor, whilst other were raised high above their heads.
Some people were not moved at all, but these guests did not speak for the entire session. Therefore nothing happened to them.
All in all this event ran as smoothly as we could manage given the difficult circumstances the manager of the hotel had enforced on us. The majority of the guests had great paranormal experiences which left some of the speechless.

Sandford Mill ghost hunt 19th September 2015
Chelmsford, Essex
This was our first ghost hunt at this location and we were all looking forward to it with different groups spread out throughout the whole site and no two groups in the same building the scene was set for a very interesting night.
All my sessions were in the cottages which date back to 1890s and we tried séances in the two upstairs rooms of both cottages.
The first group we met a Canadian Airman who was called Toby, he was billeted in the cottage during the Second World War although he didn’t like the person who was billeted with him. Toby was a young man at 27 years old who was able to move people with ease in the group. He was however very shy and felt intimidated by us and was reluctant to complete a task that we asked of him e.g. making a noise.
The second room we met a female energy and children, the children were also from Second World War era and were evacuated to Sandford Mill during the Second World War. The female energy was from the Edwardian era and whilst quite strict she came across as being a teacher although she never confirmed this.
During both séances we heard noises on the landing, Nick (the caretaker) felt something touch his head as he was standing on the landing looking into the room. Jason (GHE camera) was standing beside Nick and could hear noises on the landing and downstairs.
On entering the second cottage and heading upstairs we could all feel the difference in energy, it felt much more calm and peaceful. I had the impression that this cottage was lived in by a nice couple, it felt like two elderly people lived here and the cottage had a warm comfortable feeling about it.
The second group to the first cottage felt the same sort of feeling in both rooms and James (guest) could also pick up on trouble and chaos, he gave his thoughts on the matter and what he felt. James thought that the children were locked into the room when they were in trouble and he also picked up on a foreboding atmosphere. During our séance in the front upstairs room we asked for spirit to make some noise (we asked in the first session too) and we all heard taps and purposeful bangs. The noises sounded like someone trying to use Morse code or trying to repeat the noises we made.
During the séances the spirit were more able to lift people’s arms or rock and sway them gently, this was repeated in both the first and second sessions and both times the guests that had this happen stated that it felt like they were on a boat.
In the second session all of the guests were part of the séance so no-one was outside of the circle, which is a shame as I was hoping that we could have had someone who was standing outside of the circle and for them to have been touched or prodded as the spirit seem very eager to touch someone who isn’t on the room and instead standing on the landing.
This was an excellent ghost hunt and we hope to return to Sandford mill sometime in the near future.
