Landguard Fort ghost hunt 6th November 2015
Felixstowe, Suffolk

landguard-fort

For this evening I chose one of the magazine rooms near to the Caponier told hold my séances.

We were joined in this room by two Second World War Army soldiers; Georgie and Frank, both aged in their early 20s and both wanted to have fun.

The first group didn’t get much in the way of physical movement, although we could hear lots of strange noises and footsteps.

The second group experienced lots of movement including pushing people against the walls and pulling them by their arms to the floor. Once again some strange noises were heard but no footsteps.

The third group all experienced their arms being moved and some people were swayed, pushed and twisted as well as being pulled to the floor. We have no idea if there were strange noises or not in this group since we were all laughing so much.

This was an excellent ghost hunt with everyone experiencing some form of paranormal activity either during the séances or one of the other sessions.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 21-6-2014

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 21st June 2014
Rochester, Kent

This was a combined ghost hunt and paranormal investigation night and we had set up six of our cameras so that the whole of the Officer’s Mess could be monitored from one room, the object of the night was for one group of guests to investigate the Officer Mess rooms whilst another group watch them and see if any paranormal activity occurred.

Whilst two groups were investigating the Officers Mess the other two groups of guests would be engaged in ghost hunt sessions, with one group table tilting and trying communication in the Caponier and another group in the Counterscarp galleries engrossed with séances.

I joined the first group in the Counterscarp Galleries where Jo was starting the séance as the second camera operator, there were two spirits, one a familiar male spirit who is called Captain Daniel Bedford and another prisoner spirit called Munro who I have never seen before. Both spirit energies were able to lift the arms of the guests and pull them backwards and forwards and even pull them to the floor by pushing their knees and pulling their arms down.

The second session I joined Kerry in the Caponier who was trying to get the spirit to communicate via Ouija board and glass movements or table tilting. Kerry’s first session the spirit were reluctant to move anything however the Ouija board started promisingly but didn’t last long. I then suggested that the two tables were placed in the corridor with half the guests on each table and I would try to start one table and Kerry on the other. Eventually a spirit was able to move the tables, which started with Kerry’s table first and whilst they were being spun around our table started to rock and wobble. It took a while but eventually the spirit managed to lift the table. Many times though this seemed to only want to move in one direction; towards the floor. After some encouragement from the guests the spirit did start to obey the instructions and eventually we had two tables being moved and twisted and turned in the corridor to the Caponier.

For the two final sessions I held my normal séances in the Counterscarp Gallery.

The first group we were joined by Captain Daniel Bedford again and he was able to lift all of the guests arms on command and once he moved all the guests he quickly moved on to pushing people, which I had requested. Many of the guests found this fascinating because they could feel that I was not manipulating their hands as I was barely touching them yet they were being pulled backwards or forwards and their arms were being stretched and pulled in all directions.

Jason (GHE Camera) then suggested that the spirit pull us to the floor, the guests liked the idea of this and asked as well and within a few minutes several people could feel pressure on their shoulders, backs and knees and then one by one we were all being pushed to the floor. This started as a gentle manoeuvre but once the spirit had pushed everyone down he continued to move people on the floor or used other people’s arms to push them further to the floor. This continued until everyone had been pushed to the floor and against the walls.

The final group to the Counterscarp gallery we had some gentle arm movement but nothing of the calibre of the previous group because none of the guests asked to be moved in any way. The only exception was the guest standing to my right who was pulled and pushed until his back was against the wall, but he was the only person who was moved in this way.

After these controlled sessions the guests were allowed to explore the areas of the fort that they enjoyed during our controlled sessions.

I joined the majority of the guests who were in the Caponier participating in a human pendulum experiment.

All in all this was a very enjoyable ghost hunt and paranormal investigation where the majority of the guests had some form of paranormal encounter or something happen to them that defied logic and gravity or was just unexplainable.

FORT BORSTAL GHOST HUNT  27th September 2013

I was looking forward to tonight…knew that it would be a great night!  Fort Borstal is fast becoming a special place to us all.  And with my first group ready to go we set of for the Officers Mess.  After explaining to the guests how to use the kit (Ghost Pro’s and KII’s) we all explored the several rooms off the long corridor.  With the Ghost Pro’s lit up everyone was able to ask the various spirits different questions.  We then tried the ouija board and writing planchette but no movement, however we were hearing various noises and tapping around us.  Encouraged by spirit present we tried some table tipping, and were all extremely surprised when the table started rocking very gently, with all guests touching the table very lightly.

Fort Borstal

With my second group, again after a brief explanation of kit, everyone explored the area.  We then wanted to try the ouija table and had movement with the glass immediately.  The spirit gave us T K as his initials, and aged 9.  We then felt the energy change, and the spirit confirmed he was a sargeant.  The spirit didn’t seem to want to answer any questions so we let the glass move wherever.  The glass was moving continuously in circles and when any of the guests asked in their head for the glass to stop and change direction it did, including to those not on the table.  The guests also took it in turns to ask the spirit to draw various letters, numbers and shapes – to which the spirit responded.  Or if the spirit didn’t want to draw the letter, the glass would find the letter on the table and go there.  The glass was then moved all around the edge of the table, being very careful not to drop off the side.  The glass then very quickly stopped, so the guests continued exploring all the rooms, some with dowsing rods which amazed the guests when they moved whilst they were holding them.  Wendy & Andy (guests) went down to the last room and felt a male spirit with them.  We had placed a stone on the floor earlier and Andy was asking spirit to move it, but whilst asking this he could see lights above the stone.  Andy also felt a strong blow on his neck.  Wendy was feeling very uncomfortable in that room, and after a previous bad experience at Rye Castle had decided to come and find me.  They then wanted to try table tipping so the three of us tried this, and immediately we had the table rocking gently.  I called the other guests to join us, and some more joined in.  The table continued to rock, becoming more rapid, with eventually the table lifting off the ground.

Fort Borstal experiments

With the free session I joined Wendy & Andy in the Caponier and we had movement on the ouija board.  The spirit said he was male, aged 8 and the initials T S.  Andy also heard a male groan twice.  We then tried some table tipping but with only some slight movement we decided not to stay.  I then took my first group back down to the Officers Mess and with only 20 minutes left we went straight to room 4 for some table tipping.  Immediately we started feeling the table moving: rocking gently at the start.  Then with all our fingers very lightly on the table, the table started moving more rapidly.  All of us were amazed at this.

FORT BORSTAL GHOST HUNT 12th January 2013

I was with Steve most of the night but a couple of highlights for me were; during our second session in the casement galleries I went with some guests to the opposite end to Steve and three guests.  We held a séance circle and initially most of the guests felt like they were being swayed, like on a boat.  Then some guests had some gentle arm movement, to their amazement.  All were enjoying the feeling, until one guest felt like a hand around his wrist.  This unnerved him somewhat and after calming down we realised our session had ended.

After our two controlled sessions I took a group of guests to the Officers Mess.  We tried table tipping but unfortunately only heard the odd taps under the table, however we did hear heavy footsteps in the corridor.  Helen (team) who was filming went to investigate but it stopped.  When she came back into the room we would hear them again.  We then decided to try a séance circle in the corridor, this was very enjoyable as all the guests had some gentle arm movement.  The guests would ask in their head for spirit to move their arms a particular way, and to their surprise they got what they asked.

I then went with a group of guests to the Caponier.  As we went in a group of guests were just finishing talking to spirit on the Ouija table, however when we tried only slight movement on the glass was felt.  But to our amazement we heard a stone thrown on to the ground next to us.  We looked for the stone and found one in a small gulley.  Just when we resumed with the Ouija table we heard another stone fall to the ground.  Again when looking saw a white stone next to the first one, and we knew that one had not been there before.  Then whilst trying the Ouija table again we heard a third stone being thrown onto the wet concrete, however after much searching could not find it.  Here is a photo of the two stones.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 30-11-2012

FORT BORSTAL 30th November 2012

Group B
Myself & Jo were in the Officers Mess area, and started with a seance circle.  Immediately spirit made themselves known on the Ghost Pro’s and KII’s, by moving guests with gentle swaying and arm movement.  We heard a whistle, and one of the guests reported seeing a white shadow in the corridor.  As the spirit got used to moving us, we all ended up being in very different positions to when we started.  We then tried some glass movement which proved successful, but just as we were starting one of the guests watching had her arm moved up.  We established the spirit of James was present (he had made himself known to us previously) and some of the guests had established the name Greta from a spirit they were communicating with through the Ghost Pro.  Jo stayed in the first room with some guests and continued with a séance circle. A young girl called Emily made herself known, enjoying moving the guests arms, and they had the urge to sing Ring O Roses and Oranges & Lemons.

Group C
Our second group was very large, and we started with 17 persons doing a séance circle.  Many guests were gently swayed, and some had their arms moved.  We then split up into smaller groups, with myself staying with four guests and continuing with a séance circle.  We had gentle arm movement and being pushed.  We heard what sounded like a male burp/growl next to us, and one guest had her hair tugged several times.  Jo assisted a group doing glass movement – they had a female spirit called Sam aged in her thirties.

Group A
Again we started with a séance circle, and had some arm movement and swaying.  We also heard an unexplained noise in the corridor.  We then split into smaller groups, with myself with a group doing glass movement.  We established James was still with us, and seemed to enjoy taking the glass to the edge of the table.  He continued to do this throughout and would also take the glass all around the edge of the table, quite rapidly at items.  The KII and Ghost Pro that were under the table were lit up constantly.  I then took some of the guests back to base while Jo stayed behind with some guests that wanted to try glass movement and table tipping.  Jo & guests had a very active session with table tipping.

Free Session
For the last session I took a group of guests to the Caponier for a ouija board session.  The spirit that came forward said they were called Emily age 9 and needed help to pass over.  However when I got Steve to help, he said the spirit present was a male called Geoff age 79 from 1944, and that he was tricking us.  Geoff also said he was the ‘Emily’ from the earlier séance session.  Just a reminder that spirits like to play tricks on us too. Great night again at Fort Borstal and look forward to returning.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt, Rochester – 20-10-2012

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 20th October 2012
Fort Borstal, Rochester, Kent

Fort Borstal is one of those sites as a Ghost Hunt company we never thought we would be able to investigate, because it is privately owned. However we were nicely surprised after the owners contacted us wanting to know whether we would be interested in investigating their Fort.

Considering this is one of the five that was built especially to protect Chatham and we already investigate Fort Horsted (which is the largest) we were very keen to see what this Fort had in terms of spiritual activity. We were not disappointed.

The approach to this Fort is strange, not least because of the lack of lighting and it certainly looks a scary place upon arrival and as my team said to me, very atmospheric.

For this ghost hunt we had three distinctly different areas to investigate; The Caponier, which as the worst staircase in the world to navigate, 92 steps down (and back up!), The Officers Mess, which was a secret area even to those soldiers stationed there in The Second World War and a third underground Caponier.

My area for the night was the main Caponier (with the wonderful staircase [sic])

The first group had varying degrees of activity on our electronic equipment; some spikes of KII activity and some communication, but I thought it would be better to hold a séance since this particular place doesn’t get any people visiting and the energy levels would naturally be low.

A male energy by the name of Thomas came forward, he told me that he was a Colour Sergeant (Sergeant Major) in the Army. He was about 6’2” aged in his 20s and of stocky build and he was wearing civilian clothing (a blue shirt). He also gave me the impression that he was a funny character and had a wicked sense of humour. The was also another male energy present; Dave a private. Both were from the Second World War era.

During the séance many voices, mumbling and footsteps were heard, although given where the other two groups were, no person on site could have been responsible for these noises.

Both Thomas and Dave treated most of the guests to some gentle arm movement as they in turn went from one person to another to manipulate them.

At the end of the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiment. Due to the natural echo because of the long tunnels cancelling out the background noise was quite difficult, as was listening for ghost voices, however the clearest and most audible from this session can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/9euwDXfViZc

The Second group I took to the other end of the Caponier (as it is a double Caponier).  Almost immediately there was good communication from our electronic equipment but no KII spikes. During the resulting séance a WWII Soldier by the name of Jeremy came forward and was able to move some of the guests arms. There was also a female energy present, aged about 20 years old and called Isabelle. During the séance we heard lots of noises, some in the tunnels and one very loud sound that came from the dry moat, this sounded like wood being banged (an impact sound). Several whistles we also heard, although when we heard them no-one could say in which direction the sound came from.

The Third group I took to the same area as the first group, although very little happened because the group were busy laughing and joking with each other and paying little interest to the reason why we were there i.e. ghost hunting.

The strangest sound that we heard was the sound of footfalls, as if someone was approaching but given the staircase and the fact that it was dark, we would have easily seen someone approach, as they would have needed a torch to navigate the staircase.

After we finished our controlled part of the night, we let the guests (under supervision) return to any area which they enjoyed or wanted to experience again in a smaller group or on their own.

I spent some time with another member of my team in the Officer’s Mess just for about 10 minutes or so but during those 10 minutes the both of us heard; a door slam (there are no doors to slam), lots of footsteps, knocking sounds and female voices. We also did several EVP recordings as there was a male energy present who seemed to be of great importance. This energy didn’t like either of us being there and made us feel uncomfortable. Carl who was listening with sound enhancement equipment heard some responses when I asked whether this spirit energy was from Yorkshire. Carl heard “go” “leave” and some laughing.

I too also heard sounds but couldn’t hear any words although I did have a strange chemical taste in my mouth. We both also saw some strange lights further along the corridor.

On analysing our EVP recordings the following results can be heard at:-

http://youtu.be/CZe02y2bBJw
http://youtu.be/ad4R00PIaHE

After this the remaining guests joined us in this area to experience the same feelings that we had both just felt. Although the uncomfortable feeling had dissipated, probably due to the fact that any area isn’t scary when there are lots of people about, we did hear some noises, taps, knocking, whistles and some loud bangs.

However one of the guests did capture a strange photograph, which seems to have the shape of a person at the end of the corridor. Both the photographs below are copyrighted to Emma Coyle.

All in all a very enjoyable ghost hunt, especially since we were the first ghost hunting company to investigate Fort Borstal, hopefully future visits to this location we will have more activity experienced by us and our guests.
