Wychling Woods ghost hunt – 26-8-2011
This was a private event for more than one purpose, but generally this is one of the scariest places in Kent. I have conducted two ghost hunts here and both times it has been amazing.
We started the evening in what I would call the scary location, after some varied photo taking by the guests and some orbs captured we started a séance circle to try to get spirit to move people and give them personal evidence.
Within a few minutes a male energy stepped forward, he was in his early 20s, of slim build and stood approximately 5’9” in height. This energy was reluctant to give his name, but he started by moving the hands of Mia (guest) and me and then shortly after Mia and Chloe (guest). Mia at this point I think it is fair to say was somewhat freaked out and generally really scared, although in my opinion there was nothing to be scared of, but then I do this all the time.
Mia could not believe that both her arms were being gently moved.
The male energy then moved around the circle, and many people commented that they could see lights, which could not have come from the road as the woodland is too thick for light to shine through the trees.
Graeme (guest) had what he called a sick stomach, but he stated that it felt tight like he was about to be sick. No one else had experienced this pain. Then the level of spiritual activity increased, a level of which I haven’t seen for some time. Mia’s alarm (on her phone) was ringing, which she stated at the time she didn’t set, because she knew she was going to be doing this ghost hunt.
Scott and Debbie (guests) both felt something brush past their faces. However Scott is 6’ in height and Debbie is about 5’ in height and therefore it could not have been a branch of a tree, as there were no branches that could have brushed past their faces at this height.
Graham (guest) and I were being pushed forward with such force that the only course of action was to step forward, it was at this point that Debbie broke the circle because she felt the brush past her face which she said really scared her.
As I said to everyone, “let’s drop hands” I reached down to my utility belt to find my torch, when I noticed that my belt had come undone. It was if it happened at that moment, because this utility belt has a special clip, where to undo it you have to use both hands to press the top & bottom catches and press the button in the middle. I heard no noise (it clicks when undone) and more importantly this belt carries all my equipment and is quite heavy it would have normally dropped to the floor, but on this occasion it didn’t. Very strange.
When Mia checked her alarm had been set to 23:23, which not only is an odd time, but she swore she did not set it. Was this spirit activity?
After conducting an EVP experiment and more photo taking and exploring this part of the woods, we moved to an odd area, the ground here feels (by walking on it) made up, something recently buried or a hole filled in.
Once again we held a séance circle and asked for spirit energy to step forward, within a few minutes three brothers stepped forward, they were of slim build and gave their name as Taylor (which I assume is their surname).
They gave me the impression that all three passed away in a farming accident, something to do with a thrashing machine, the year they gave was 1927.
It didn’t take long for these energies to start on the group and Graeme, Mia and I felt a massive pressure on our shoulders and our arms that wanted to drag us downwards. At first the energy was centred on me, but as we were all double bent it was hard to say who was feeling the most as we were all trying to fight back because none of us wanted to fall in the mud, but the energy was very strong. After a couple of tries, we managed to lift ourselves up.
However this was short lived, because the next wave of pressure we were heading downwards again, this time Chloe was involved. After about 15 minutes we were able to stand up once again. Then the spirits decided they were going to move our arms and the four of us who were pushed now were moving our arms. When I torch light came on, the rest of the group found this to be very entertaining. Once again Graeme, Scott, Sean, Kym & Graham (guests) all had stomach pains, the four of us who had been moved had no pain. Laura (guest) who was standing outside the circle heard lots of noises, according to her some of those noises sounded like someone walking through the woods, however no one ever arrived and it would be very difficult to walk through these woods without a torch.
Laura thought that there was someone standing beside her, until she called out the name of the person (Toby) and he answered several people abreast away from Laura. Many noises were also heard by most of us, some were odd, others very unusual considering it weren’t windy or raining, but there were several knocking sounds.
Mia also reported that her hair had been tugged and then without any warning she was pushed backwards with such force that Sean and I had to hold on very tight otherwise she would have fallen over. However the spirits were determined that she was going to fall and eventually Sean and I could not hold her anymore and we had slipped in the mud and she fell over.
This was a great ghost hunt and it is unfortunate that a public event could not be held here, because I firmly believe this is one of the scariest locations that I have ever investigated and I cannot wait to return some day.
