Fort Amherst – 13th December 2014 (Kerry)

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Fort Amherst 13th December 2014
Chatham, Kent

Equipment: Dowsing Rods, Pendulums and Ouija board
Area: Radio Room

1st Session

At the start of the session we used the rods and pendulums and each guest had a turn at using them. We all had lots of movement on these, and guests were getting responses to questions. Kym and one of the guests picked up on a short man called Bob, around 5’6”, with a moustache and short dark hair. Another guest kept feeling cold spots on her, although the room we were in was very warm.
During the Ouija session a spirit came through but we were unable to get any facts from them as the glass kept moving to No for every question we asked! Spirit made it clear they didn’t like us being there. Kym and Nick (guest) heard one of the metal beds in the room rattling. We then started calling out and listening for noises, to which there were two taps on the wall behind me, followed by a tap on the door and the metal urn. Nick wandered to the other end of the room by the door and heard a noise from behind it. At exactly the same time Kym saw a black shadow on the door.

2nd Session

We again started this session with the rods and pendulums and everyone experienced lots of movement and responses. Guests also mentioned feeling cold spots.
A French male spirit came through on the Ouija, who used to work at the Fort. There were several attempts to get his name but this couldn’t be determined, although we established his age as being 44. He seemed to like Gaynor (guest) to ask the questions and would respond better to her than anyone else. Gaynor said she kept being touched on her left shoulder and she sensed that he was near her as she felt cold on that side. We heard a whistle in the room so we asked spirit to copy our whistles to which they responded each time. One of the guests saw a flash at the end of the room by the door and when we asked the spirit via the Ouija if he was by the door, he responded with a Yes. The ghost pro also responded to confirm this. On leaving the room at the end of the session we all heard three successive groans behind us.

3rd Session

Lots of activity once again on the rods and pendulums. During the Ouija session a female spirit called Victoria came through. She was 28, died in 1925 and used to work at the Fort. She was happy to communicate with us and responded well to our questions. We heard two loud taps on one of the metal beds at the other end of the room, and we called out asking spirit to do it again, but they didn’t. I sensed there was someone standing by the door at the end of the room and when I asked if there was a spirit by the door, the glass moved to Yes.

4th Session

Once again people felt cold spots in the room during the rods and pendulums session, despite the room being the warmest in the Fort. A couple of the guests using the rods asked spirit to point them in the direction of where they were standing, and the rods moved round simultaneously to point in the same direction.
Through the Ouija in this session we connected with a male spirit called Nigel who was 27 years old. He said his wife was called Nancy, aged 28 and they had a 4 year old son called Stuart. There was lots of information coming through and we established that they all died from TB in 1907. He said both himself and his wife worked at the Fort, he was a soldier and she was a nurse.

Rye Castle ghost hunt – 10th October 2014

Rye Castle ghost hunt 10th October 2014
Rye, East Sussex

It is always with a little bit of sadness  when we come to end of the year, as this was the last investigation at Rye until April 2015 and often the last event is memorable for lots of reasons. This event was no different.

As usual I headed to the first floor of the Keep and started to hold a séance circle. Within a few minutes we were joined by Philip aged in his early 40s, quite a portly gent who gave the impression that he locked prisoners up.

Arm movement was felt by the guests as Philip went around the circle and affected the guests one by one, some guests were pulled backwards and other forwards. As is becoming relatively normal, the people either side of me were being pulled down to the floor. The people opposite me were pulled backwards and onto a table.

However the more time that passed the feeling was that there was more than one spirit responsible and then I heard a spirit say his name; Ezekiel was the name the spirit gave which didn’t correspond to the person I saw. The person I saw was not nice and possibly a murderer as some of the guests were sensing some discomfort around their necks. At the same time other guests saw shadows and movement in the shadows especially in the direction of the terrace doorway.

The second group, we started as normal and once again Philip returned and started to move the arms of the guests but once all guests had been moved at least once I saw Ezekiel and once again guests started to feel odd. I decided at this point to end the séance just in case things got out of hand (which has happened in the past).

At one point one guest was lying down and their head was banged on the floor. Tasha (guest) who was standing in one of the cells felt pinching on the back of her legs.

Many times we all heard a strange tapping sound, like someone rapping their fingers on a wooden desk or cabinet.

After the guests chose what activity they wished to do and I joined some in the Women’s Tower who were having some mixed responses with glass divination. However once I stepped into the room the energy levels increased and the guests had useful movements and answers to their questions. Thankfully I didn’t need to touch the glass.

This was a great ghost hunt and we cannot wait to return in 2015.

Colchester Town Hall ghost hunt – 2-8-2014

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014

Colchester Town Hall Ghost Hunt 2nd August 2014
Colchester, Essex

As with many of the venues that we investigate for the first time, we never know what to expect, nor how to find our way around the building to remember which staircase led to a room that we liked. Colchester Town Hall is a large building, with many spooky or even ghastly statues watching over, with several staircases and a warren of corridors, we loved it!

I had visited the building before, to meet with the staff and to assess whether I thought the building was worth investigating, so I had a vague recollection of the rooms and had all but decided to use the Mayor’s Parlour for my sessions. After being shown around the building again by the security guard I changed my mind and chose a small room in the sub-basement. That was a good choice!

The first group to this room I explained that we were going to hold a séance and ask the spirit to move people. After a little while we were joined by Michael, a burly and muscular Policeman, well actually a Bobby as he came from a time when the modern police force that we know today was in its infancy as he gave the year as 1866. Michael was aged in his late 40s or early 50s.

When I asked him to move people he started to move Kat (who was standing on my right) and gradually he lifted the arms of the majority with just Jack being left out (he was standing on my left). Many of the arm movements were on command and Michael moved people exactly as they asked, assuming they asked in a polite manner! Kat was also pushed and bent over in some very uncomfortable positions and a few times, she was pushed to the floor. Michael was able to pull people backwards and push them forwards and several time pull people down to the floor and tangle people’s arms once we were on the floor. Many times the people who were on the floor we unable to get up.

The second group to this room, the activity started even before I had said anything, with people on both sides of me being pulled backwards and after I asked for people hands and arms to be moved, in an instant half of the circle (my side) started to be moved, it took a while before the other half of the circle were moved, but eventually everyone was being moved in some way. Several times Alan and I were pulled to the floor several times neither of us could actually get up. Stavros was also being pulled backwards, unfortunately for him he had a wheelie bin behind him but that did not stop Michael (the same spirit from the first group).

Once everyone had been moved in some way I asked for Michael to move us all in the same way, I didn’t ask this out loud as I did not want what I said to influence anyone, but one by one everyone’s hands met in the middle of the circle and then when I asked out loud for the spirit to finish it, all our hands at the same time rose above all our heads. This is a typical symbol that I have asked spirit to move people in this way before as it is a symbol from the fictional Three Musketeers, known as the salute.

When asking for spirit to copy or repeat noises we heard some noises but could not be sure where in the room the noise emanated from or whether the noises was created from something outside.

Since this was the first investigation that we have held here we decided that instead of just letting the guests to wander around the venue freely, we would carry on with more controlled sessions but using different parts of the building and doing different activities. I chose the rooms above the Moot Hall, which were a warren of small rooms, some though had alcoves or cupboards.

In one of the room I switched on my Spirit Box and asked the guests to start to ask questions and generally keep asking questions. In my experience it takes about 15 minutes for any spirit to answer our questions via this method. I could sense a young boy in the room and I told the guests to encourage him to answer.

After a while we could hear sensible responses to questions, so when someone asked “Where are we?” We all heard Colchester very clearly, then a few minutes later “High Street” and along with other names and when asking for the spirit to say one of our names, apart from my name we all heard “Jack” who was a sceptical guest and was hoping for some evidence, hopefully this will convince him a little.

I joined some of the group who had broken off from everyone else and joined them in another room where I asked for taps/knocks to be repeated. Since one of the guests was wearing a hearing enhancer she could easily hear the responses, whereas the rest of us hear something but could not say whether it was correct.

The second group of people to these rooms we concentrated on a couple of the rooms where the spirit box worked well and after a little wait the spirit started to answer our questions. I left the guests to experience this as the spirit in question asked that I leave the room. Whilst I was gone the guests had cupboard doors moving on command, being poked in the back and some very clear answers via the spirit box including people’s names.

In the shortened free time session, many of the guests continued with the activity that they were doing as the activity at this part of the night was impressive with just about anything that we asked the spirits to do, they achieved.

This was an exceptionally active night with lots of spirit activity; all the guests witnessed lots of physical paranormal activity and Ouija board sessions which were very interesting. Our six hour investigation flew by and we did not want to finish. We didn’t film this investigation which is a shame because it would have been interesting to watch, but this may have been a good thing as we often find that the events that we don’t film are more interesting than those that we do. We will be returning to this venue for another investigation and to use some of the rooms that we didn’t use this time around.

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt – 27-6-2014

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

Pluckley Screaming Woods ghost hunt 27th June 2014
Pluckley, Kent

We don’t often write reports for our outdoor events, but this ghost hunt was exceptional and worthy of being written about.

After walking to the centre of the woods and handing out the usual ghost hunting gadgets (KII EMF (Electromagnetic detectors) and Ghost Communication devices) and explaining how to use them, a spirit energy called Thomas stepped close to us, listening to what I was telling the guests about what is likely to happen. Thomas was about 5’9” aged in his late 20s and had a rugged appearance and unshaven. He wore a white/cream granddad shirt and dark green woollen trousers. In life he wouldn’t have been a pleasant person and would always be in trouble. However as a spirit he had realised his wrongs and was happy to communicate with us, which he did.

As we were talking Holly (guest) felt a very cold spot on the back of her lower legs, neither of the guests either side of her felt this sensation.

There was also another older gent spirit (aged in his late 60s or early 70s) present although he was trying to communicate with us very little of what he tried worked, or rather very little we heard or felt. Some guests also felt cold spots but the problem with this is that we were outside and whilst it wasn’t windy and the temperature was about 13 degrees Celsius any slight breeze couldn’t be ruled out.

After a lot of questions and answers and some photographs taken we moved on further into the woods at another crossroad.

Here I set up my laser grid and asked the spirit to step into the grid. I also turned on my spirit box (a device that scans the FM radio waves at 100ms in reverse) and asked the spirit, who was a familiar spirit to say something. After asking for Christian names to spoken we first heard “Holly”, then a while later “Kim” and when asking for how many people we all heard a clear “8”, although there were nine of us. On a couple of occasions I heard my name and other words although these were not about anyone present or in answer to a question. Nothing was seen in the grid although Maxine (guest) saw a blue light in the middle distance.

I suggested that we should create a séance circle to build the energy and allow the spirit to move and touch us whilst giving the guests a physical experience of spirit movement.

Within a matter of minutes the spirit energy that I had seen standing in the grid and had spoken some words on the spirit box, was standing behind me. This spirit is a familiar face to me as I have seen and witnessed his energy several times. His name is Philip and he passed away in a motorcycle accident in the 1960s. He was in his early 30s and he has said that the accident was his own doing.

Philip started by lifting the arms of the two people either side of me (Anita & Nicky) and I was able to prove to both people it wasn’t me lifting their arms. I then asked for either of these people to be moved or pushed, although neither moved at the time Anita told me afterwards she could feel the force pushing on her, but she had dug her feet in as not to move.

I then moved around the circle in between Bevan and Kim and once again Philip moved our arms, Bevan was very quiet when it was his hand moving, speechless in fact as he could not believe what was happening. When I asked for Philip to pull him backwards (I didn’t say this aloud) Bevan was really surprised when he got pulled backwards, although he now became vocal and said it was the best feeling. I wish in a way that I had filmed this as it would have made excellent viewing!

Unfortunately the spirit activity didn’t occur to Kim for some unknown reason. Other people in the séance circle were being wobbled and pushed forwards and backwards as well as having their arms lifted up and pulled to the floor including Maxine and Sarah who were on the other side of the circle.

Once again I moved around the circle so that as many guests as possible could feel this energy. This time I stood in between Holly and Jim and asked that Philip move these people in similar ways to the rest of the group as they were the only two people who had yet to feel this strange sensation. Almost immediately Holly and my hands were being moved although with Jim it took a little longer. Holly and my hands were moved in all directions, some of them were not very comfortable or just plain painful, but neither of us would choose these manoeuvres.

Philip was continuing to move people’s arms and sway or push people however all of a sudden Nicky just seem to “zone out” and didn’t respond to her name being called. As I looked at her I thought I could see her face changing into an older woman, but since she answered in a quiet manner I didn’t think much more about it. Then Nicky more or less collapsed and the only reason why she was standing up was because the two people either side of her were holding her up. Many people called her name but she didn’t respond to anyone and just muttered a few quiet words. I was really expecting her to go into a trance state, however and fortunately (for the other guests) she didn’t. I then quickly pushed her into the centre of the circle and performed some instant healing as well as making Jim able to join her in the centre of the circle, quite a complicated procedure although one which I have done before. After a couple of minutes Nicky was feeling better and more herself and talking normally. Once Nicky was talking and acting in a normal manner I closed the séance circle. Nicky couldn’t remember anything of what just happened to her and she said that she felt really hot, but that was all she could remember. Everyone else felt surprised and wanted to know what just happened and more importantly why it happened to Nicky, which I explained. This particular spirit encounter alarmed or frightened the guests and afterwards they asked me if I was concerned, I answered that this is not the first time this has happened to a guest and it didn’t concern me as I have had to sort out bigger problems than this, although in this instance it helped that all the guests remained sensible and followed my instruction which ended the situation without anyone being in danger or badly affected.

From here we walked to another part of the woods and although nothing in particular happened everyone commented how quiet the woods were and how there were few animal sounds. It was quieter than normal (usually there are bird noises if nothing else) and when everyone stopped talking no sound at all could be heard which some of the guests found more alarming than hearing a noise.

This was an excellent ghost hunt with all guests getting some physical movement that they could not explain nor in some cases understand although everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Fort Borstal ghost hunt – 21-6-2014

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

Fort Borstal ghost hunt 21st June 2014
Rochester, Kent

This was a combined ghost hunt and paranormal investigation night and we had set up six of our cameras so that the whole of the Officer’s Mess could be monitored from one room, the object of the night was for one group of guests to investigate the Officer Mess rooms whilst another group watch them and see if any paranormal activity occurred.

Whilst two groups were investigating the Officers Mess the other two groups of guests would be engaged in ghost hunt sessions, with one group table tilting and trying communication in the Caponier and another group in the Counterscarp galleries engrossed with séances.

I joined the first group in the Counterscarp Galleries where Jo was starting the séance as the second camera operator, there were two spirits, one a familiar male spirit who is called Captain Daniel Bedford and another prisoner spirit called Munro who I have never seen before. Both spirit energies were able to lift the arms of the guests and pull them backwards and forwards and even pull them to the floor by pushing their knees and pulling their arms down.

The second session I joined Kerry in the Caponier who was trying to get the spirit to communicate via Ouija board and glass movements or table tilting. Kerry’s first session the spirit were reluctant to move anything however the Ouija board started promisingly but didn’t last long. I then suggested that the two tables were placed in the corridor with half the guests on each table and I would try to start one table and Kerry on the other. Eventually a spirit was able to move the tables, which started with Kerry’s table first and whilst they were being spun around our table started to rock and wobble. It took a while but eventually the spirit managed to lift the table. Many times though this seemed to only want to move in one direction; towards the floor. After some encouragement from the guests the spirit did start to obey the instructions and eventually we had two tables being moved and twisted and turned in the corridor to the Caponier.

For the two final sessions I held my normal séances in the Counterscarp Gallery.

The first group we were joined by Captain Daniel Bedford again and he was able to lift all of the guests arms on command and once he moved all the guests he quickly moved on to pushing people, which I had requested. Many of the guests found this fascinating because they could feel that I was not manipulating their hands as I was barely touching them yet they were being pulled backwards or forwards and their arms were being stretched and pulled in all directions.

Jason (GHE Camera) then suggested that the spirit pull us to the floor, the guests liked the idea of this and asked as well and within a few minutes several people could feel pressure on their shoulders, backs and knees and then one by one we were all being pushed to the floor. This started as a gentle manoeuvre but once the spirit had pushed everyone down he continued to move people on the floor or used other people’s arms to push them further to the floor. This continued until everyone had been pushed to the floor and against the walls.

The final group to the Counterscarp gallery we had some gentle arm movement but nothing of the calibre of the previous group because none of the guests asked to be moved in any way. The only exception was the guest standing to my right who was pulled and pushed until his back was against the wall, but he was the only person who was moved in this way.

After these controlled sessions the guests were allowed to explore the areas of the fort that they enjoyed during our controlled sessions.

I joined the majority of the guests who were in the Caponier participating in a human pendulum experiment.

All in all this was a very enjoyable ghost hunt and paranormal investigation where the majority of the guests had some form of paranormal encounter or something happen to them that defied logic and gravity or was just unexplainable.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 14-6-2014

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

Fort Horsted ghost hunt 14th June 2014
Chatham, Kent

Fort Horsted is one of our “special places” as we have held numerous ghost hunts here over the past three years, we have had many paranormal anomalies happen to use and our guests and every time we hold a ghost hunt here something memorable happens to some of the guests. This particular ghost hunt was no different although the most interesting thing happened in the last 20 minutes of our event.

Our event here on this particular date had less people than we are accustomed to, probably because it was England’s first World Cup football match. Nevertheless there were three groups.

The first group headed towards one of my favourite areas of the fort, this was a former magazine room at the far end of the fort and is the furthest away from all the other groups.

Here we met Thomas, aged in his early 60s and from the late 1960s era. Thomas seemed to be dressed as a handyman would have in that period of time. Thomas was a stocky built man with mostly a bald head.

I asked that Thomas move us in some way and this resulted in some of the guests arms being lifted and generally moved on their command. We also often heard footfalls and the sounds of people approaching us but as normal (we often hear these types of noises here) no-one arrived or entered the room.

The second group to this room had a much more productive session, with lots of arm movements, sometimes these were interlocked with each other or pulled to the floor. Thomas was still present and responsible for the movements.

We were also joined by a nurse called Alice who also assisted in moving people in various ways.

The third group also felt their arm moved, although this was not as exceptional as the second group although when we moved up to a room on the ramparts some very unusual and odd noises were heard. These noises sounded like someone walking across carpet, which is really strange because there is no carpet in the fort and there never would have been any.

In the free session is where the majority of the odd and unusual noises were heard as I had just taken a group down to the Counterscarp gallery and as soon as I got back to our base room, two guests asked if they could go to the same place. This is a physical place to get to as there are 90 steps to get there and 90 to get back!

Nevertheless I took these two guests down to see the Counterscarp Gallery as it is really interesting and the most secluded part of the fort. As we were walking between the right and left galleries we all heard strange breathing sounds and when I tapped on the railings we heard a clear response. If that wasn’t enough, we heard a mumbled conversation, women talking and a low or deep man’s voice. None of these noises could be explained because we were the only people in this part of the fort and not only that but we were also the last three people within the fort as all other guests had either left or were waiting with the rest of my team in the base room which is near the entrance to the fort.

All in all this was another successful ghost hunt that had an air of mystery about the place with activity happening just as we were supposed to be leaving and something else for us to investigate on our next visit.

Charlton House ghost hunt – 3-5-2014

Saturday, June 7th, 2014

Charlton House ghost hunt 3rd May 2014
Greenwich, London

This was our first ghost hunt at this location and we were unsure what to expect, although from my initial visit some rooms had more promise than others. However we know from experience that at night things and rooms can seem a lot different. I picked one of the largest rooms and also the room which I chose when I visited in the day time.

Whilst I was walking the rest of the team around with the caretaker who was unlocking the doors as we walked, we walked into the very room that I had chosen for all my sessions and then on the way out of the room a waste paper bin was in the middle of the corridor, none of us remember it being there when we started as we didn’t walk around it.

The first group to the long gallery room, (which was fully wood panelled) we started a séance and were joined by a Second World War Captain called Christopher. He told me that he was sent to this house during the war years to recuperate.

Christopher was able when asked to lift the arms of some of the guests and one particular guest was pulled backwards at various intervals which really surprised her, because it wasn’t as gentle as some of the movements, this seem to have more force which to stop herself falling over she had to take a step back.

There was also a female spirit present although she didn’t tell me her name but when this spirit was near to people they could smell on odd fragrance. It was similar to a strong bleach smell, although it wasn’t bleach.

The second group to the long gallery room had much more movement, mainly because they actively asked for things to happen to them, whereas the first group didn’t.

When we started the séance there were three male spirits in the room with us; a Doctor, a Major (Second World War Army) and another solider. All three were able to move and touch people and lift our arms on command. Many people were pushed, swayed and pulled backwards and two guests (Dan and Nadine) reported feeling odd sensations in their knees. These sensations were like numbness although all those affected knew their knees were not numb but could not describe the sensation. Stuart (guest) was gently rocked back and forth, not dissimilar to being on a boat. Dan (guest) was also pushed and pulled backwards and another guest (Nikki) was squashed between Stuart and Nadine as they were being moved.

At one stage during the session we all heard a dragging noise, similar to a wooden box being dragged over a wooden floor, but everyone heard this sound coming from different directions, however this may have been due to the acoustics of the room as the wood panelled walls made all sounds echo.

During the séance half of the group felt cold spots, which was odd because the whole building was very warm, the heating had obviously been set quite high as the ambient temperature in most rooms was 25 degrees Celsius.

When we moved into the adjacent room many of us heard footsteps in the room that we had just left as well as other noises which sounded like small items being dropped on to the floor. When Nadine and I were looked into the long gallery room to listen for noises I saw a female spirit, aged in her early 50s and similar to a teacher from the 1960s looking back at us. She didn’t say anything just stared at me.

The third group to the gallery room, we were joined by a female nurse spirit, her name was Anne-Marie and when I asked for her to move the guests arms everyone felt something eventually, but this nurse took a liking to Pam, Belinda, Courtney and Jenny (guests) and moved them more than the others. When I asked Anne-Marie to push or wobble the guests many people felt unstable and some were pushed forwards or pulled backwards especially Pam and Courtney and others felt light touches on their arms or shoulders.

During the séance we all heard another odd noise, it sounded similar to laboured breathing and a whistle was clearly heard by everyone. Once again several people felt cold spots which moved from beside different people. When we moved into the other room we had several responses to taps and knocks made by me as I had requested the spirit copy or repeat the knocks, the lighter I tapped the more likely the response.

After the controlled sessions we always allow the guests to go to any room of their choice and hold their own vigils, sometimes the team will join them, whilst other times the team will just oversee what guests are doing. I joined a group in a room that we didn’t use during our controlled sessions and met a young girl of about 8 years old who was bossy and a male spirit called Henry who didn’t like me at all, although I have no idea why because he never said. Two other team members were sitting on the floor on the opposite side of the room and both felt cold spots move around them. No other sensations or noises were heard whilst in this room although the room felt strange and odd but we have no idea why.

This was an excellent ghost hunt and we hope to return to this venue in 2015. Many of the guests had some paranormal activity that they could not logically explain or things happened to them that defied physics.

Rye Castle ghost hunt – 26-4-2014

Friday, June 6th, 2014

Rye Castle ghost hunt 26th April 2014
Rye, East Sussex

Rye Castle is one of those special places, were it seems innocuous during the day time, but at night things aren’t quite what people expect. That’s why we like it!

Normally all guests are split into two groups, one group in the Women’s Tower, the rest with me in the main Keep, but this time we held a larger séance in the main keep first.

We were joined by Charles, a provincial bobby (countryside) who wore a large cape and carried a storm lantern and Clive who was a local petty criminal aged in his early 30s, wearing a white granddad shirt and green woollen trousers.

The séance started with gentle arm movement, which is what I asked for and then spirit took this to another level by twisting our arms with other people and pushing people off balance. Many of the guests who asked to be moved, touched or pushed got their wish come true as spirit was able to move everyone eventually by pushing them forward and pulling the guests backwards.

At the end of the séance a familiar feeling was felt by everyone in the room, this is something that we have witnessed a few times before, but this feeling is getting more frequent. It is the feeling of being unstable when standing up, after a while all guests had to hold on to something or lean on something as standing unaided felt odd and many reported that if they didn’t they had the sensation that they would fall over.

Anyone who was standing near to the front window felt the sensation of being pulled into the wall, whether this had anything to do with the general sensation in the room remains a mystery.

Half of the guests stayed with me the rest headed into the Woman’s Tower, those with me went into the mortuary part of the tower, and this is now the lower part of the tower.

Some unusual noises were heard, although we all heard them we couldn’t explain what it actually sounded like, the noises were just plain odd.

Whilst I was talking to the guests a World War Two soldier joined us and it would seem just to listen to what was said because he didn’t interact with us. Going upstairs to the main keep into one of the old cells we met a fairly short male spirit his name aptly was Dicky who had been persecuted for killing a chicken. The guests in this cell were able to feel his presence.

Going into the Woman’s Tower one guest reported feeling a tightening sensation around her neck and throat and feeling dizzy. When I stood in the same spot I too felt much the same although the sensation of being dizzy was more prominent. As the session progressed the sensation of feeling dizzy, unsteady and general swaying became more pronounced.

There were two spirits present, one a young female spirit aged in her late teens and a male spirit who took a dislike for me. Whilst we were here in the tower we heard a strange breathing noise, like someone who had difficulty trying to breathe or someone taking their last breath. When I asked for the spirit to touch or move people Katie (guest) felt nauseous. When we were in the lower part of the tower we all heard footsteps on the concrete steps leading to the upstairs and walking across the floor above us, we were the only people in the tower at the time and the tower doesn’t adjoin anything.

At the end of the evening all the guests were in the keep whilst Ted, the museum guide was locking the Woman’s Tower and we were watching on the CCTV. There was a chain that when put in place across the room seemed to sway, nothing unusual in this, but it took a very long time to stop swaying and then when it nearly stopped, it started swaying again. We wondered whether this was due to Ted shutting the door and creating a draft, but as we watched the swaying get more pronounced Ted walked into the Keep. This continued for at least 5 more minutes before coming to rest.

Once again a great night and our first for 2014 at Rye Castle, hopefully the rest of our ghost hunts at Rye will be just as active.

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt – 12-4-2014 (Kym)

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Red Lion Hotel ghost hunt 12th April 2014
Colchester, Essex

Area: Rooms 9 & 10
Equipment: KII’s, Ghost Pro’s, Dowsing Rods, Pendulums, Glass Work

Group D – I started with explaining how to use the rods & pendulums and immediately we had lots of movement.  We then asked spirit to show movement for yes & no answers, and guests were then able to find out what spirits they had with them, one of them being a male.  Those people sitting on the bed felt the bed move, which has happened many times before in room 10.  They were also looking at the light showing through under the door from the hallway, and could see a shadow which appeared to be moving.  We were also hearing taps & creaks in a different places in the room.  We tried fingers on the glass to see if spirit wanted to communicate this way, and after a couple of short movements, the spirit did answer by moving the glass to yes to being a male, but then no more.  Then Ellen felt a touch on her face, looking to see if her friend’s hair had touched her, she was too far way but she had felt her hair being touched.  At the same time I saw a flash of white light on the bed behind them.  In this room there is a short corridor to room 9, and the guests took it in turns to stand here with both doors shut.  They had similar experiences; touches, with noises and creaks in that area, and what sounded like movement in room 9 – no-one was in there.  Also two guests had seen light coming from under the door, but then it disappeared and everything went very dark.  Annette (guest) who was sitting on the bed could feel herself being pushed back.

Group A – Started with rods & pendulums which moved immediately, guests then established their yes & no movements, and were able to ask spirit questions.  We tried the glass work – but only slight movement.  I then asked if anyone wanted to spend some time in the closed corridor, and the first two females after what seemed like less than a minute came rushing back out.  They had both seen a face in front up them – they described it as being a face lit up under moonlight.  The glass started moving around the table more, and answered yes to being male and a judge.  Asking if he had been the face in the corridor, he answered yes.  He then was unwilling to answer any more questions and just kept randomly moving the glass.  However when he wanted to answer a question he would take the glass to one person in particular, and would then reply to his questions.  We then realised our session had over-run by 10 mins and the glass returned to the centre of the table as if to say ‘goodbye’.

Group B – Again started with rods & pendulums, and one person in particular, Hannah, had lots of movement with her pendulum.  She was able to establish – sometimes with the pendulum answering yes or no, other times with thoughts in her head, the spirit was a boy age 7, called Percy.  He was the oldest of four, had a brother called Jack, and two sisters called Penny & Molly.  He lived in a house here before the hotel was built with his mother & father.  There was a garden with flowers, and he liked climbing trees, but had fallen out before.  His dad built houses, they had servants, and he didn’t like vegetables, but had birthday cake.  We asked for him to jump on the bed, but he said no, saying he had something wrong with his leg.  We asked how he passed, and he said he was poorly/sick, he had a bad head, and had died of a brain tumour.  During this session two guests stood in the corridor, and were very alarmed when they heard footsteps in room 9 and the door handle turn.  I suggested they go in that room, and whilst on the bed they saw the curtain move (no windows open and the radiator underneath was turned off) and they heard more noises around the room.

Group C – Starting with rods & pendulums we had lots of movement.  After establishing their yes & no’s, they asked if the spirit was Alice – yes.  Whilst talking to Alice two male guests went to stand in the corridor, but came out extremely shaken saying “have any of you been walking around in room 9”.  None of us had moved, and as it was now the free session I suggested they stay and experience the two rooms a little more.

A fab night as always at the Red Lion, until next time….

Oliver Cromwell’s House ghost hunt – 5-4-2014

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

Oliver Cromwell’s House ghost hunt 5th April 2014
Ely, Cambridgeshire

This was the first ghost hunt that we have undertaken at Oliver Cromwell’s House and as a team had no idea what to expect from the night. I had previously visited in the day time albeit months previously and had my suspicions about which rooms would be eventful, fortunately those rooms and some others we had some great paranormal occurrences.

On this particular evening I wasn’t feeling too well and because the groups were smaller I decided that I would join in with other groups rather than hold my own sessions.

The first session I joined in with Sue and Carl (GHE team) in one of the bigger rooms, lots of communication was apparent from our electronic devices although little of no KII (EMF) energy was seen on the meters.

When Sue held scrying sessions in the mirror in the room various people who tried this saw their faces change as did the people who were watching.

The second session I joined in with Sue and Kerry (GHE team) and after I scared Kerry by entering a different door to get the Study we settled down with a séance. There were some gentle movements and swaying felt by some people, but since I wasn’t part of the séance I spent the time describing the spirit energies that I could see. In this room there was a Mayor or a very important person. He was dressed in a black suit, aged in his mid to late 50s and generally was a quiet man.

From here we moved into the Bedroom and this time I joined in the séance circle. Some slight arm movement was felt between the people either side of me and we all heard some odd noises. One of the noises sounded like the radiator cooling down, but after asking the staff about the heating, they told us that the heating had not been on all day and thus should not have been making any noise.

The third session I joined in the séance with Jo (GHE team) as I was feeling better and felt that I could cope with the physical movement that would undoubtedly occur. This time we started in the Bedroom and we were joined by a male spirit called Peter who had passed away relatively recently, I was given the year 1980 and he had passed away in a Motorcycle RTA (Road Traffic Accident) on the road outside Oliver Cromwell’s House.

Peter proceeded to lift the hands of the guests and push and pull us. This is exactly what I had asked for and when Peter got the hang of doing this several of the guests were intertwined with each other. Others were dragged by their arms across the room and other guests had their hands moved in rather painful ways.

Once the movements stopped we moved in the adjoining Study where cold spots and draughts were felt although no-one could work out where the draughts were coming from as the majority of us were sitting on the floor and we couldn’t work out how a draught could be felt if someone was sitting next to the person who felt the cold spot or draught when that person couldn’t.

Several odd noises were also heard in this room and one of the noises sounded like the candle sticks being moved as it sounded like metal on a stone floor. However we don’t know and it may be possible for us to check this sound on the video that was recorded in the room.

The other sessions with table tilting and Ouija boards which were held in the downstairs rooms were very successful with lots of movements and in the case of the Ouija board lots of useful communications were received by the guests.

All in all a very enjoyable ghost hunt and a location that we hope to return to in the future.
